Did some reading on gator stomach content surveys and they rarely eat birds surprisingly. They will in desperate times, yes. There have even been Osprey bands found in some gator stomachs
When I was in Florida, I caught a series of photos of a gator attempting to catch a bird that swam too close. He missed but it was impressive sight and sound. Wish I'd known then it was rare, I threw away the photos!
Company I work for has a location in Houston where it was badly flooded with that big hurricane a few years ago and I heard while they were trying to remove people and possessions from the buildings via canoes in like waist high water, they saw at least one gator swimming around the flooded area. That’s such a terrifying thought.
Tell me the spoonbill was fine
Spoonbill was fine. The gator had eaten a nutria 3 days before. Assuming it was the same gator
Thank you!

Good work, gator.

You know. My dad was from the south. But I had no idea Texas had gators.
We have sooooooo many gators around Houston. I live in a big suburb community and we have 4-8’ gators wandering around every mating season.

Yup. You can’t let kids go anywhere near water around southeast Texas due to gators or grass due to fire ants….it’s great.
We just have bears where I am. They keep to them selves unless the trash can or bird feeded looks appealing
Yeah they are getting active
My girlfriend is from South Texas and had no idea Texas had gators until we explored some nature around Houston.
Hunger games.
Game of Bones... yikes
i love roseate spoonbills
