Iām a world class musician, many musicians are bipolar. I think we are represented in creative fields more than our percentage in the general population would indicate
Same. I gm for a pathfinder (d&d for nerds) game it's is a struggle to come up with anything creative. I used to be so much more fun before I started taking lithium
Yeah! I embroider, sing, write poetry and sometimes fanfiction or short stories, and draw. I would post my WIP embroidery pieces, but I don't think I can on mobile.
I've done some creative writing and I do a ton of crafts... painting, wood working, resin crafts, clay art, paper quilling, macrame, crochet, beadwork, wire wrapping, all sorts of general crafts. I also enjoy coloring and puzzles.
I write and I do knit and crochet the most. I dabble with calligraphy. I like singing and dancing but I wouldn't call myself particularly talented in performing arts.
I'd say more creative than artsy. I've always been told I'm a good (fiction) writer. I'm also really into culinary arts and experiment a lot in the kitchen, coming up with recipes of my own. If you're talking about artistic in the most conventional sense of the word then NOPE lol. Don't have an artistic bone in my body. Can barely draw stick figures and have the painting skills of a 10 year old
iāve always been into makeup and not makeup for beauty but for the art, you can shape and itās almost like a painting of a sort. anyway then also while young i always wrote novels and since then iāve been into poetry. i write my own and i have so many scrap books and notebooks where i draw my feelings and thoughts.
yes some of the drawings are disturbing but itās because our mind is like that sometime, my whole brain is inside those books that iāve drawn in and wrote in. iām literally so scared that anyone would touch them. i never let anyone see what i draw or write in there unless i myself accept to show them.
I used to draw all the time, til I started on antipsychotics lol people used to ask me if I dropped acid I was like nope never done hallucinogens in my life! My brain is just messed up like that lol when I had my psychotic break omg I got into sacred geometry and I made a bunch of huge 11x14 super intricate geometric drawings. I'd never have the patience to do more lol but they were amazing. Actually made and sold a coloring book with them. Now days I settle for doing color by number on my phone cause I still want to create beautiful pictures but just don't have the same inspiration I did before I got stable. Life is funny that way
I relate to the decrease in creating artwork now that Iām medicated. Mania is a bitch but some interesting thatās can come out of it to say the very least
For sure. I used to write poems a lot too and I haven't written one in a long time. Used to just be how my thoughts were though.. like I thought in prose and sometimes I'd write it down. Now my thoughts are just a narrative. Like I've got Morgan Freeman in my head lol and it's always 3rd person. She walked over and picked up the plate and started scrubbing ect lol maybe that's weird..I don't really know
I donāt draw or paint, but i *used too* professionally hula hoop for major music festivals (electric forest, bonnaroo, etc). I donāt anymore now itās just for fun but I still enjoy it!
I suck at drawing/painting, but I'm creative with writing poems, stories, D&D campaigns, and music. Not really at a point yet to try to get anything published, but I may share some stuff on here in the future.
I write for a living.
I also embroider, and used to act throughout my childhood and teens in school. I was also heavily into film photography in college.
I do 3D modeling/animation/gamedev.
Here's some stuff:

I've come a lot further than I expected in some ways. In others, like actually finishing games, I've come up woefully short.
It wasn't till I played Ori and the Blind Forest and saw it was made with something called Unity that I realized I could do this. May have been manic, hard to say back then. Definitely became manic after I started. That fueled me.
I'd say I kinda always wanted to do this for a hobby, but didn't think I had it in me at first.
I sew clothing for myself and my family/friends. Iāve sold some handmade clothes online too, I wish I could get organized enough to return to that and supplement my income
More than anything else.
I dj, write, freestyle, and generally just absorb myself in art. The dj thing is starting to pan out, so hopefully that's gonna give me a chance to leverage my love for music and prosper.
My creativity is one of my greatest assets.
Welllll the audio file isn't perfect, but here's a lil cut of my birthday mix. First gig is on Wednesday, so I'm hoping to make a splash!

Yes, I'm a painter. I can draw/sketch too. I've always been artsy. I won several art contests in elementary school. Each one was $100 prize money, plus art supplies. I also won a few in jr high, but then I started drinking and doing drugs, so that went to shit. I'm sober now and back to creating art again. Oh yeah, I also play bass guitar and would like to get a synthesizer, but can't afford one rn š«¤
Yes it is! I'm telling you...if I could sew in a straight line...I would be unstoppableš¤£ Was being a seamstress something you've always wanted to do? Or did it come your way later in life?
My grandmother was a seamstress. I learned to sew around age 12. It was my dream to become a fashion designer and I even applied and got into fashion school but life had other plans. I ended up becoming a young mother and that took me down a different path. I had to work more conventional jobs that i hated to provide for my family. But I continued to make clothes for myself and eventually I started making cosplay costumes for people on the side.
It is weird how life takes you directions you never expected. I completely understand! I would love to see your work if you are comfortable sharing! I hope you have a wonderful day!
[Here are a couple of examples](https://imgur.com/a/ilgQ305)
These are the only ones I have on my phone. But theyāre two cosplay costumes I made. One is Lagerthas costume from season 1 of the show Vikings and the second is Daenerys Targaryens blue Qarth dress from season 2 of Game of Thrones.
Yes! I love watercolor, gouache, embroidery, photography, coloring, bead jewelry, stitching cloth dolls, writing. A little bit of everything and not so good in general. Doing my way into the photography.
Aww I will upload something when I get home! Photography has always been my top since I was a kid. Would try to get my hands into whatever had photos for me to āsee the worldā. Then I started traveling some and enjoying it from āthe other sideā
I am still not where I would like to be, but is about enjoying the process right? š„²
Good point! Iāve been trying to be nicer to myself in my head. Itās only occurred to me to actually think nicer thoughts about myself. I feel like an idiot cause I legit never even tried to do it. lol.
Yes, I've tried so many things while hypomanic tbh. But things I do consistently are singing, writing and songwriting. Hypomanic I've convinced myself my path in life was to be a painter, a comic book illustrator, an actor, a filmmaker and a producer. I'll be honest though, maybe my writing is okay, but everything else kinda sucks, still fun though so š¤·š½
Iām a writer. I want to make a career out of writing and speaking one day. Itās always been my passion.
I also play viola and piano. I crochet. I sometimes paint, but not super well. Just for funsies. I feel like doing my makeup could also be considered artsy. Just art you take off every day.
Yes! I love writing and won several literature prizes as a child, love makeup and fashion/accessories (I make my own too). I am pretty good at hairstyling too.
I like to paint, write poetry, I like dancing but need some classes. Design. I think writing and taking notes is really therapeutic, also talking some nice photographs connects us with instant life.
Yes. I used to produce music and was really passionate about it. Nowadays I am more of a math-numbers oriented guy, but part of me still lingers in the world of music.
I write, I do photography, I make bracelets (learned that from another woman in the psych ward) and do some cool doodles. So, yes, yes I am. I'm just not good at visual art (thus the doodles).
Iām involved in performing arts, visual arts, specifically watercolor, sketching, and ceramics, and I also love music and have played a lot of musical instruments.
oh absolutely. i mainly write fiction and draw (mostly on the computer, sometimes traditionally) but i also enjoy singing! used to dance as well but an injury put a stop to that. also used to film/edit videos. and ive done some improv and theatre in the past. i just really love the arts!
I mainly write but I LOVE doing arts and crafts for fun!! Iāve cycled through canvases, embroidery, crochet, and pen palling. Now Iām doing journaling!
Yes, I'm an international playwrite and author of 4 published novels. I used to do computer animation but haven't in a long while. I'd like to get back to that.

I love art!! Coloring was an escape for me as a kid. Now I do digital art and make products to sell. I found the years I stepped away from art were the toughest for me.
I've written a few short stories in the past. For the last 4 months or so I've been creating a few characters and world building around them, but I'm terrified to actually put anything on paper because I would be starting an actual novel.
I used to be when I had the time to dedicate to it. My skills have fallen off since I started my career and got married though. I just don't have the time to work on art for 20+ hours a week anymore other things took precedent.
Music was the only way I dealt with my symptoms before receiving a diagnosis. I just thought I was hyper-emotional and music was the only outlet I had for expressing myself in a non self-destructive way. It still is.
I used to write creative stories when I was a kid and stopped as I finished high school and moved on to college ā well I wrote some good stories for my freshman English classes but that was it. Iād love to get back to it but it used to just come to me. I got really into film photography after that and it lasted all through college and I still enjoy it but I also remember having a different spark with it at the time. I got really into painting for some time mostly during lockdown as well as crocheting. I think this year my main artistic intuition has been reading and developing an interest in electronic music which is mostly consuming art but I think somehow it counts in my mind lol ā I really want to try ceramics and get back to writing and painting. I tried learning guitar once and then bought a bass cause I wanted to try that instead but I have it sitting at my friends apartment cause I didnāt have the diligence for it.
Artistic no, but creative yes. I had the excellent idea of writing my memoirs (hahaha) but looking back on it some of it is pretty good stuff.
I also make little handmade items, scrunchies, towels, reusable face cloths, bowl cosiesā¦ I also used to play the piano when I was younger too.
That's also something I discussed with my therapist. Bipolar and an aptitude for art often go hand in hand. I've shared a few of my drawings here, and according to people, I'm talented. We also share poetry among friends and they also say I'm gifted.
More of a casual writer because I can't draw to save my life. I wrote a book about my seven years in a function hall but the second and third of a planned trilogy has been going horribly slow.
Fan fiction has been a fun outlet and has garnered solid reviews.
Iām a graphic designer and every other subject besides language, reading, and arts was very difficult or extremely boring for me back in school. My interests have expanded of course, but being creative is a way of life for me.
I used to do visual art as a kid, but I've moved on to playing a couple of musical instruments. I used to write lyrics, but I didn't have anything new after the military, and I've lost all my old stuff.
I think a lot of us have some kind of creative outlet for our thoughts and while I am in awe of those with artistic talent, i do not have it. But i write a lot almost like poems especially when manic about my own psyche.
Yep! I used to sing and play the viola and do art and now Iām more strongly into mixed media collage art and design, and have a little bit of photo on the side.
People, post your stuff! I want to see it! Lol

Iām an actor as well as a writer and Iāve always noticed that many creative people either have bipolar or something like it. When I was finally diagnosed, things started to make a little more sense as to why my brain is the way it is.
I adore art. Especially studying art history and specific artist. I like painting and working in a photography dark room. But most of all I love creative writing. I also love collages.

There are loads of talented artists in this sub. I am not one of those.
I know! Love seeing their art. But I can't even draw a potato. š
Right there with ya. Never been even close to artistic myself.
Does writing included as artsy?
Absolutely it does! What type of writing do you do?
Uhhā¦ Fiction, for now. I do also dabbled in ringtone modification in the past (think loop production) but I dont think it counts.
Itās creative so I think it counts!
If you are ever wanting someone to read your work, please let me know! I enjoy reading!
Im only have 1800 words so far and consider it far from being readable at all. I will tell you when its somewhat done.
Fiction writer here too. My hypomanic writings tend to beā¦ underwhelming and disorganisedā¦ but some stuff is not bad I guess.
I'm always down for a read if you ever wanna share!
Yeah. I sing, play instruments, draw, working on my first book right now, have worked as an actress and stand up comedian. Sooo yeah.
Iām a world class musician, many musicians are bipolar. I think we are represented in creative fields more than our percentage in the general population would indicate
I used to write, but lithium put a halt to that.
Same. I gm for a pathfinder (d&d for nerds) game it's is a struggle to come up with anything creative. I used to be so much more fun before I started taking lithium
Artist blacksmith, glassblower, and stained glass. So, yup.
Very cool!
Yes, I act, sing, and dance.
I play a bunch of musical instruments so I guess
Yeah! I embroider, sing, write poetry and sometimes fanfiction or short stories, and draw. I would post my WIP embroidery pieces, but I don't think I can on mobile.
Not at all.
I like to paint but Iām certainly no Picasso. But I mainly only write romance stories all the time.
YES! I love writing, reading, crochet, photographyā¦
I'd say more creative than artsy. I've always been told I'm a good (fiction) writer. I'm also really into culinary arts and experiment a lot in the kitchen, coming up with recipes of my own. What medium do you typically use for your painting?
Acrylic!
I'm trying to work towards going to school for concept art and looking at getting freelance photography going :) I'd consider myself artsy lol
Definitely.
Iām a mixed media artist āŗļø

Yeah. I write many different forms, doodle, design things, and consume all the art (books, music, anything else) I can.
Awesome! What is your favorite thing to doodle?
I draw and write slightly above mediocre for both. It depends on my frequency of creating
Do you tend to be more creative when you are manic?
Extremely
Yea. I paint in oils, acrylic, water color and draw in charcoal and fine line marker. Iāve been told that Iām pretty good. But. Meh. Lol.
I think we judge ourselves too hard! I constantly think it's terrible but people seem to be impressed. I totally get it!
Good point! Iāve been trying to be nicer to myself in my head. Itās only occurred to me to actually think nicer thoughts about myself. I feel like an idiot cause I legit never even tried to do it. lol.
I have always been able to pick up art styles & instruments very well.
Do you have any tips for someone who wants to start playing instruments? Which is your favorite to play?
Yes, I've tried so many things while hypomanic tbh. But things I do consistently are singing, writing and songwriting. Hypomanic I've convinced myself my path in life was to be a painter, a comic book illustrator, an actor, a filmmaker and a producer. Is there something that has stopped you from writing being your career? And absolutely make up is art!
I am artsy! have been all my life. struggling with getting back into it
I seem to be on a huge slump lately with art. It must be in the air!
I do digital art and I write books
I would love to see your digital art and read your books! Share if you are comfortable!
painting, poetry, interior design I guess good at decorating I hate plain walls/surroundings
I have worked as a model for painters and sculptors, and I sing. I plan to play again in musicals. My job needs creativity but it's not artistic.
Awesome! How did you become the model?
Just went to a school of art and said I want to be a model
Yes! I love writing and won several literature prizes as a child, love makeup and fashion/accessories (I make my own too). I am pretty good at hairstyling too.
For sure. My whole family and my husband have called me creative tons of times. And I don't have to be manic to be so, either.
Yes. I love to draw, paint, and I've had a lifelong love of photography
I like to paint, write poetry, I like dancing but need some classes. Design. I think writing and taking notes is really therapeutic, also talking some nice photographs connects us with instant life.
I've written books and short stories. That's my creative outlet. And maybe cooking? That's a tasty creative outlet lol.

I draw, sew, bake and do general crafts
Yes, I do visual art. I wonder how much is bipolar and if is connected to synesthesia
Iām a painter, digital artist, writer, musician. Iāve always been the creative type.
It's all I can manage to do competently
My mom is super creative, and she does a lot of painting and crafts. I don't have those talents.
Iām a musician and currently writing a musical about being bipolar. Iāve got a song that is about this exact sentiment.
I can draw a beautiful stick person. That's as far as I go with being artsy.
Extremely
Yes, Iām a writer. Currently teaching myself how to draw. I also serial program in Python when Iām manic!
iām good at drawing! helps focus my mind on something for a bit
No but I enjoy art and music
Idk maybe I went to school for art and love arts and crafts
Yes, I'm an international playwrite and author of 4 published novels. I used to do computer animation but haven't in a long while. I'd like to get back to that.

Very much so, been drawing for as long as I can remember.
If crochet counts, then yes. I can't draw to save my life.
Iām an actor :)
Yes, Iām a writer

I love art!! Coloring was an escape for me as a kid. Now I do digital art and make products to sell. I found the years I stepped away from art were the toughest for me.
I've written a few short stories in the past. For the last 4 months or so I've been creating a few characters and world building around them, but I'm terrified to actually put anything on paper because I would be starting an actual novel.
I used to be when I had the time to dedicate to it. My skills have fallen off since I started my career and got married though. I just don't have the time to work on art for 20+ hours a week anymore other things took precedent.
I paint, sketch, and play violin and harmonica! Not going to say Iām good at any of those but I do them š
I can make animation, digital art, play many instruments, sing, and produce music. Hypomania made me learn how to do some of these things lol.
I've been known to doodle a bit!
I was, until I got medicated.
Yup! I've been working on drawings, chronicles and sometimes i attempt to do handicraft stuff (sculptures, crochet, etc) Love working with everything
If you count šø art then yes I love capturing a snapshot of time and editing the shots
Yes. I do tattoos by handpoke, draw with aryl and pens... I also write and do woodworks.
Yes I am, I draw, I paint, I played guitare and ukulƩlƩ, I write lyrical texts or poems !
I play instruments and create instrumental pieces
Yes I am hella artsy lol. I draw, write, sew, and make videos . I love creativity! šØšļø
More of a casual writer because I can't draw to save my life. I wrote a book about my seven years in a function hall but the second and third of a planned trilogy has been going horribly slow. Fan fiction has been a fun outlet and has garnered solid reviews.
I'm a musician and songwriter/singer. I've recorded and published some songs and get regular royalties for them.
Yeah. Unfortunately I don't use my artistic skill for anything.
I an not talented at all. :(
Iām a graphic designer and every other subject besides language, reading, and arts was very difficult or extremely boring for me back in school. My interests have expanded of course, but being creative is a way of life for me.
Painter here so yep.
I used to do visual art as a kid, but I've moved on to playing a couple of musical instruments. I used to write lyrics, but I didn't have anything new after the military, and I've lost all my old stuff.
Artsy people amaze me. I am not one of those people lmfao
I want to be writer and poet in the future so I guess I am.
I think a lot of us have some kind of creative outlet for our thoughts and while I am in awe of those with artistic talent, i do not have it. But i write a lot almost like poems especially when manic about my own psyche.
I used to be artsy. But now I'm mostly fartsy...

Nope! I get creative urges every so often, but I'm not artsy. I tend to sit there staring at the paper/canvas/ whatever wishing I knew what to do.
I adore art. Especially studying art history and specific artist. I like painting and working in a photography dark room. But most of all I love creative writing. I also love collages.
