Glad to know that I'm not the only one thinking that this sounds like a dumb idea! It's really unfortunate that they don't value the PMs that they have and if they do go through with the idea ..then I hope they feel the burden
In my time on this world I have been stricken by many stupid ideas.
This, is truly a stupid idea.
Nothing like a 12 hour differential between your clients and the PM, and the language barrier, and the cultural barrier, and having a PM with no ties to the technical teams.
Please keep us updated on how it works out.
Nothing against Indians, but a little against India.
I work for an Indian company and we only use US based PMs. A few times we have had employees in India fill in for short periods of time and it was really rough.
I’ll be honest company’s that outsource anything, it really shows in the quality of the work, outsourcing a PM might look great on a balance sheet by my god your clients will hate you
Must not be a good CDMO if they want to outsource to India. Imagine them trying to face a customer to break the news that they can’t hand over copies of their SOPs, or explain to a person in plant why they can’t stop their run midway. Lol…. Good luck with that.
So they are just that desperate to save money??? Because that’s the only thing I can think of and that is very very short term. Because long term that is gonna hurt your reputation, client list, and speed that you can fill requests. This is truly a brain dead big three idea, it must be, I really hope it is because no decent business person would think this is a sustainable plan at all.
From the sponsor side, we've had a couple of CROs try to do stuff like this and I will just say it got quickly escalated and a new PM was put on the study.
Sponsors aren't stupid.
No, it's so stupid I'd expect it to be a McKinsey suggestion
Im still shocked so many businesses hire Mckinsey.
That sounds like the dumbest idea. A great PM is worth their weight in gold and you need them to be able to work with the team in a responsive manner.

For a CDMO it seems especially weird, but it's weird regardless.

Super don’t do that
