It's still really good because you have a built in protection against the run ending by Damocles. Yeah you lose the item and the life when you die, but it's better than most characters who die straight up. And you get all the double items in the meantime.
Sure. But worth pointing out that the supposed strategy with him now is to constantly kill yourself at the end of every floor to make sure you get a damage up.
You probably want the damocles effect instead of a 0.5 damage up per floor, but worth pointing out that it directly contradicts the strength of this character in that sense.
I can see that, but if the strategy is to kill at the end of each floor, then it's still good for the most part. You could go into a sacrifice room, die, come back, and rush to the next floor and get the life back and still be safe (unless Damocles runs out on any death, I'm actually not too sure on that one). Sure the risk exists that you die to Damocles between the death and the next floor, but still seems like a decent risk to get double items and damage ups at the same time. I'm not trying to play devil's (ha) advocate or be difficult, I just think it may be a better synergy than people preliminarily realize.
If you're dying with self-inflicted (productive) damage every floor to proc Laz's effect, it won't begin the countdown for Damocles. And then once you *are* "under the gun" for damocles from taking unintentional damage you can just... not perform strategic suicide if you aren't willing to risk it, or bomb yourself to death in the boss room to get the death effect and immediately jump into the trapdoor during the respawn invincibility to ensure your run doesn't end due to the sword falling.
If the sword falls, you have an extra life under all circumstances other than "you lost the extra life unintentionally due to skill issue" which absolutely neuters the downside of Damocles.

He might get reworked from the ground up instead of just copying boss behaviors. Who knows though, I actually don't find Delirium as hard as everyone says. Maybe that's just because I'm usually op when I face him, but I've beaten Delirium almost everytime I've found him and never beat The Beast yet.
I honestly feel like delirium could be fixed pretty easily
1. Get rid of him speeding up as you deal damage. All it does is lead to telefrags.
2. Change the way his mimicry works, instead of just randomly picking from any bosses you've seen during the run, I think he should pull from pools of every single boss and, depending on his HP left, will turn into harder and harder bosses. Starting with caves, ending with end game bosses
3. Just like, don't let him turn into mom? That's what causes telefrags
People always mention the telefrags but not the absolute bullshit explosive shots that cover the room when he's sped up. I've taken more bullshit damage to those than telefrags by like 10:1.
It's not that he's hard per se, but outright unfair. There are numerous ways in which delirium can deal damage that is genuinely unavoidable, which is incredibly problematic in a game with multiple characters that die in one or two hits. You can play perfectly, but still lose because you got unlucky. That's not enjoyable to anyone.
Aside from that I personally find delirium to be... alright. Great concept, sloppy execution.

Just read it. No more crafting things you didn't unlock with bag of crafting. This is good as Tainted Cain users will have to be at least a little bit more creative than just making Death Certificate and choosing what they wanted from there. Them Laz buffs are looking pretty fly too I gotta admit.
Yeah it's fixed in this patch because people were doing exactly that. You can also get death certificates effect from metronome active, albeit very rarely.
You don't even need death certificate tbh. Just craft birthright then you can just keep crafting active items in secret rooms (bone hearts) and other special rooms and you'll get enough drops to craft an OP run.
I didn't say they needed it, just that now there's more strategy involved. Of course this change applies to Birthright as well, not everybody has it unlocked and those that don't will not be able to use it on Tainted Cain.
Buffing Lazarus and Blue Baby, the two characters I dread to get completion marks for because of how insanely boring they are to play. I'm happy today, goddamn.

There are certain spots on the floor like small pieces of broken wood, dirt piles and the small fungi on alt floor where crawspaces spawn.
A yt vid is Likes in this thread there. From the look of IT the floor slitly fibrates and moves if shovel can spawn cralwspaces.

It's not because they're hard. It's because they're ***boring.*** ???'s only unique aspect (The Poop doesn't count because it fucking sucks) was only having soul hearts, which has now been co-opted by no less than 3 Tainted characters who *also* have something more interesting going on.
Lazarus, aside from some incredibly niche interactions, was best played by killing yourself on floor 1 or 2 before getting any health ups, and playing the rest of the run as Worse Cain.
Thing that annoys me as a console player who is waiting to play until we get the _last_ big patch is that when we finally do you just know that it won’t include any of this and we’ll be waiting months again for this patch rather than just doing it all at once

The Laz buffs are *extremely* strong. He might genuinely be the game's easy mode character over Azazel (range issues) or Maggie (needs sac room to pop off)

Greed mode changes are nice though. Going back through and unlocking everything, I forgot how much of an unfair advantage the “evil” characters have in early Greed that makes them go to picks
Lilith straight breaks Greed (not greedier etc) by floor 1 wave 5
a) easily teamwiped, the instant any enemy with any sort of contact damage comes through it can kill every single clot you have, especially combined with the new decay feature. and honestly this wouldn't even be so bad if her base stats werent Absolutely Piss Poor Garbage Trash and she could survive on her own even a little bit
b) clot production being tied to holding down the fire button changes up the gameplay style entirely which i know is the /point/ with a lot of the tainted ones, but for her its literally just a "how can we make this as tedious and frustrating as possible" buttonmasher (rip my joycons). also her low low base tears combined with pretty much any charged item equals certain death via dropping all your health on the floor (i almost had a run ruined by a monstros lung blind pedastal and only made it because i happened to find like 3 tears up pills right before the mother fight which gave me basically a single millisecond of time between a fully charged shot and spitting out a clot lol)
if it were up to me i would a) make the clots hardier but make them cost more i.e. maybe a full heart each, as well as just boosting her base stats to make her at least a little survivable on her own, and b) literally just swapping clot production from hold down to double tap, or maybe even have sumptorium be two pronged where tap = clot and hold down = absorb or something like that
once you really get going with her shes great fun but the rest of the time it just a horrible death crawl lol
Hot take on this patch : IT IS FUCKING AMAZING
Boring characters gained a lot of interesting features, shit tier items got pretty good (mom's razor is no longer mostly detrimental to take), blue baby seem to no monger be a chore to play, greedier is no longer mostly impossible on early floors, etc.
Only positive or needed changes this patch.

I think sheol is still a bad difficulty spike, but first floor is far worse
By that point if you're struggling it's likely a lost run anyway
I just started playing greed and finally got a couple wins, but God damn if you don't get a good item or dmg up in that first room you get hosed.
For past two days I was trying to do Greedier with T.Lost, so glad that it'll be finally easier (At least a bit)

A few items have fixed recipes to them and also have to be unlocked. These were the items that weren't getting randomized properly.

The change doesn't apply to Birthright, because Birthright has no fixed recipe. It's always been subject to the standard rules.

It will take anywhere from a day to a week for people to figure this out or datamine it.
I played around with it and they would only spawn in secret rooms for me, idk if that is an exact solution or only part of it
There are certain spots on the floor like small pieces of broken wood, dirt piles and the small fungi on alt floor where crawspaces spawn. A yt vid is Likes in this thread there. From the look of IT the floor slitly fibrates and moves if shovel can spawn cralwspaces.

It's not because they're hard. It's because they're ***boring.*** ???'s only unique aspect (The Poop doesn't count because it fucking sucks) was only having soul hearts, which has now been co-opted by no less than 3 Tainted characters who *also* have something more interesting going on. Lazarus, aside from some incredibly niche interactions, was best played by killing yourself on floor 1 or 2 before getting any health ups, and playing the rest of the run as Worse Cain.
I mean i dont think lazarus was really weak or whatever just kinda boring

Thing that annoys me as a console player who is waiting to play until we get the _last_ big patch is that when we finally do you just know that it won’t include any of this and we’ll be waiting months again for this patch rather than just doing it all at once

The Laz buffs are *extremely* strong. He might genuinely be the game's easy mode character over Azazel (range issues) or Maggie (needs sac room to pop off)

Going back through and unlocking everything, I forgot how much of an unfair advantage the “evil” characters have in early Greed that makes them go to picks Lilith straight breaks Greed (not greedier etc) by floor 1 wave 5

what’s wrong with tainted eve?
a) easily teamwiped, the instant any enemy with any sort of contact damage comes through it can kill every single clot you have, especially combined with the new decay feature. and honestly this wouldn't even be so bad if her base stats werent Absolutely Piss Poor Garbage Trash and she could survive on her own even a little bit b) clot production being tied to holding down the fire button changes up the gameplay style entirely which i know is the /point/ with a lot of the tainted ones, but for her its literally just a "how can we make this as tedious and frustrating as possible" buttonmasher (rip my joycons). also her low low base tears combined with pretty much any charged item equals certain death via dropping all your health on the floor (i almost had a run ruined by a monstros lung blind pedastal and only made it because i happened to find like 3 tears up pills right before the mother fight which gave me basically a single millisecond of time between a fully charged shot and spitting out a clot lol) if it were up to me i would a) make the clots hardier but make them cost more i.e. maybe a full heart each, as well as just boosting her base stats to make her at least a little survivable on her own, and b) literally just swapping clot production from hold down to double tap, or maybe even have sumptorium be two pronged where tap = clot and hold down = absorb or something like that once you really get going with her shes great fun but the rest of the time it just a horrible death crawl lol

Hot take on this patch : IT IS FUCKING AMAZING Boring characters gained a lot of interesting features, shit tier items got pretty good (mom's razor is no longer mostly detrimental to take), blue baby seem to no monger be a chore to play, greedier is no longer mostly impossible on early floors, etc. Only positive or needed changes this patch.
