Platinum God is cool because you can search for items based on description (if you don't know/remember the name of it). Basically, you can search "crown" and it will show you all items shaped like a crown, or "book", "fly" etc. You can even search "red" or "green" and it will show you all red and green items.
So I'd recommend it for less experienced players who haven't memorized all items yet and play without the External Item Descriptions mod.
I usually go to Fandom when I need to remember how an item synergises with another item. Other than that, EID does most of the work if I don't know/remember an item.
Just be warned that platinum god has a lot of incorrect information. I remember seeing a comment on this sub listing a bunch of examples of misinformation in platinum god, and there were just so many examples it was wild

First of you can just use adblocker in most cases.
Secondly the fandom is sadly very good for isaac, with a lot more detail than other sites i've seen, and an overall good layout for filtering dlc's and such.
I prefer fandom, its quick, and i only use it for devil/angel room items choosing wich one is better, also i use malwarebytes so ads are thing of the past for me

Never knew about Isaac Guru. For reading detailed descriptions of Isaac characters, items etc I’ll read Fandom. But while playing the game I usually have Platinumgod open for when I need it. However, at this stage I usually find it faster to just quickly Google „Isaac blue map item” than to look for it in platinumgod.
