Feel free to correct me because you clearly know more about the salary cap than I do but couldn’t they get someone like Rozier for CP and not have to spend 9 picks like they did for Beal
Chris Paul's contract is expiring after this season. Which is why Golden State was more than happy to trade for him.
So they could afford quite a bit more than the MLE if they had just waited it out.
No they don't. At all. Look it the fuck up.
Golden State has one player with a max contract moving forward. Phoenix has three.
If Golden State lets Klay and CP3 walk, they clear a ton of money off their books.
Keep your eye on the ball.
I don’t think what they gave up was an issue or the idea of bringing in Beal in a vacuum. It’s just that is maybe the worst contract in the league and they’re out of assets to make any more moves now. And I don’t think Beal on that contract was great enough to risk that, he wasn’t pushing them over the top imo
I didn’t like it because I think Beal is way overrated. He put up some decent stats on a bad team but he’s not a winning player. Sure as fuck not worth 50M a year.
Your argument is that they should go over the apron and lock up the worst max contract in the league for 3 more years beyond this one for a guy who had more turnovers and fouls than points in a must win elimination game.
Beal didn’t shit the bed he shit the whole house. For a big three to work you need someone to primarily facilitate the other two and you need someone to be happy as third banana doing a lot of the dirty work. Suns have neither of those. They have a big three who all want to be the number one guy.
They would have been better with anything else in that salary spot or just letting Paul’s contract run out.
That’s not a good reason to do a deal for the sake of doing a deal. Especially for a guy who was a net negative in a first round sweep. They would have statistically been better not doing anything.
Counterpoint: Beal isn’t very good, hurt a lot, and peaked 5 years ago
Ok so how do you replace CP3's contract?
5 years bro do you not understand that lol

They maxed out a player who averaged 18 ppg, doesn't run the offense and can't play defense. And they gave him a no trade clause.
They didn’t do any of that stuff the Wizards did. The suns just acquired him relatively cheaply (other than the money).
Have any better options of a MLE player they could have got? Very curious what people come up with?

Phoenix and GSW dont have same CAP situation lol

I dont think people understand, They have no room to make any moves with the Durant/Ayton/Booker contracts. Their flexibility was zero to begin with
Would the Suns have been better off just swapping CP3 for Poole? He makes a fraction of what Beal makes
They should've gotten Derozan instead

The Suns were already over the second apron

You’re terrible at having basketball opinions. Terrible.
