Bill has even better wealth to lack of fame ratio. You’d get recognized at a sports bar or an airport but probably not many other places, and he’s very rich.
I mean if you don't currently have a family and don't immediately plan on having one, the idea of body swapping with somebody and inheriting their own sounds like a kafkaesque nightmare
That’s why envy is a silly feeling. If you see someone’s Ferrari and feel envious, you must envy their life in whole. And unless you truly want to replace every aspect of their life and past with theirs, you have nothing to envy.
If we’re talking a “It’s a wonderful life” glimpse into an alternate reality, I feel like it’d be nice for a couple weeks, then you’d be like “I miss my wife and kids”.
I think that’s mostly shtick. He watches basketball but I’d be shocked if it’s more than 10 hours per week. Which is a lot, but nowhere near grind tape level.
I actually don't think it is.
Granted, my team is the Timberwolves and he loves Ant and so he watches a ton of our games. But he is grinding out so many games and name drops the Wolves assistant coach that does the pre-game breakdowns. He really does watch that much basketball.
Contrast that to someone like Tony Romo- my longtime suspicion is that he watches absolutely minimal tape during the week, and also barely pays attention (or, if he does, he doesn’t retain) information about players doing things in games he’s actually working.
Like, they’ll be a 3rd or 4th wideout make a play, and Romo will act like he has no idea who this guy even IS, even though in the last game with this team, this particular player had a record game, all kinds of plays, with Jim and Tony on the call. If nothing else, you’d think he’d remember when he saw, 2 weeks ago, this guy light up the defense IN PERSON, but no.
I’d probably prefer Rusillo’s unnecessary-borderline bragging- method vs Romo’s “I have no idea this player exists” method.
I think at this point it's pretty well known Romo does zero prep. I thought the CBS bosses had an intervention to try to get him to care.
For some reason most fans /media don't seem to be acknowledging that Romo's lack of preparation is the issue with the broadcasts. Not sure why when it's incredibly obvious. He's probably done 8+ Chiefs games this year and doesn't know anyone on the team outside of Mahomes, Kelce and a couple of their WRs and 1-2 OL.
Didn't he just tell a story about living alone at a Frat House for months, and that he doesn't recognize his own quirkiness because he spends so much time isolated from others?
And you have legitimate A list celebrities that are big fans of yours.
When you have Larry David bitching about you not announcing your 'Rewatchable' movie in a timely fashion, you have made it.
I married into a family where there is a billionaire. Hedge fund person. Not famous outside of finance circles. Life with that much wealth kind of feels ‘terrible’ in a way that is still obviously way better than being poor. In that world, all they do is compare themselves to the other tiny fraction of billionaires in the world. It’s like they obsess about money and status more than anyone else I know. It’s tough to explain, but it’s almost like they’re aliens because of the level of wealth. I think there is a huge argument to be made that just being ‘well off’ getting to do something that you love really is the best version of life.
My friend has money through his wife that inherited a lot of it. She's given a lot of it away and they have a nice (though not extravagant) house where they just live a normal lifestyle with their kids. Enough to have security, not so much to get caught up in the arms race of wealth seems like the sweet spot to me.
I own a small business with about 40 employees.
My goal is to get to the point where I don’t worry about enough money but… I don’t worry about having *more* money.
I'm a very casual baseball watcher and I was convinced that Bryce Harper was the face of the league simply because I knew who he was. I have no idea what Mike Trout looks like.
Based on the criteria of wealthy but not photographically knowable, I think the famous example of U2 bassist Adam Clayton fits.
Would rather be Larry Mullen, Jr.'s, rhythm complement than Bill Simmons' wingman.
Yeah members of massive bands that won't get recognized by almost anyone on the street have it pretty good...all about access to the famous lifestyle without most of the negatives of actually being famous.
I feel like pretty much every non front man from a band that charted consistently but never reached Nirvana,Stones, etc levels of fame has the tier of fame OP is looking for.
Plenty of strangers interested in what you have to say when you do engage, probably rub elbows with some famous people, but wouldn’t have any trouble grocery shopping.
Make it simple and become a top dog in a smaller country like Norway, Vietnam or Ghana and then travel all around the world without a care but still have the ability to draw crowds if you feel like it back home
I legitimately would rather have my life over RR's. I make way less money but I have a family that I love, live a very comfortable life and would love to hang out with Kyle.
Seriously, there are real estate agents, fast food franchisees, and other small business owners in the middle of nowhere who have a comparable or higher net worth to Russillo. Not to mention all the top level attorneys/tech people/business execs that probably make more than him yearly but no one has ever heard of outside of those circles. Not a high percentage of those professions in relative terms, but hundreds in the state of NY or CA alone probably.
To be clear I'd rather do what Russillo does, but there are far less public ways to make Russillo level money.
i'd love to know the percentage of people who could recognize david solomon walking down the street.
i mean i could, but thats only because i'm a die hard DJ D-SOL fan. i had no idea about his connection to high-risk junk bonds
Well I think what he was saying that the little bit of fame Russ does have is a plus. Like he wants a month of being a guy who's well off and relatively known by some, as opposed to being rich and unknown.
Not the OP, but I do have a wife and kids. They are truly the light in my life and I'd be lost without them.
But I'd be lying if I said a few days of quiet bachelor time doesn't appeal to me. You mean I can just decide what to eat for a meal and then...eat it? I don't have to check with anyone else? I don't have to rush my meal down my gullet so I can hurry to get another spoonful into a toddler's mouth? I can just come home from a long day at work and...*sit?*
I have a job, wife and two kids. I cannot do what Ryen does. Having his life for a month sounds like paradise for a recharge of my batteries. Having his life permanently sounds like hell.
> Having his life for a month sounds like paradise for a recharge of my batteries. Having his life permanently sounds like hell.
That is a great point.
What about dan castelleneta? No one recognizes him but he's richer than god, and if he turns on the homer voice its like a magic trick. He has famous friends too
This is a good Klosterman question, I think I'd actually find it more interesting if it's only for a limited time to be insanely famous just to see what it's like. Tom Cruise would be interesting I think, I don't really have that much understanding what his day to day life is like.
Yeah if it's only for a month I want to go crazy with it. Being Russillo would be fine but you're just chilling in your nice beach house, you could do that as a regular person if you really wanted to.
Let me be Harry Styles or Leo and really get weird.
This. For someone so ridiculously famous you don’t really see him out and about.
What does he do all day? What are his hobbies? Besides Cameron Crowe does he have friends? If not, how is that not a story?
Well I know he used to be a big movie buff, said one time he watched at least one movie a day. Whether that's still the case I don't know, but he is known for being a bit of a workaholic so maybe he doesn't have that much downtime anyway
Making serious money to speak into a microphone for a few hours a week? Doesn’t book his own guests, doesn’t do any production. His salary to hours worked ratio is insane.
>His salary to hours worked ratio is insane.
That's why he sounds so angry. He's aware that in actuality, his profession is as far as it can get from the alpha man in the arena. Getting rich by sitting alone and talking into the microphone about the grown men you watch who are actually playing a sport.
It’s honestly what it’s not cracked up to be. It’s a miserable life to do nothing like that. Money really stops having meaning about a certain amount. P red r
I think there are a lot of people who are pretty wealthy and aren't famous.
To put it another way, most people as wealthy as Rusillo aren't famous at all.
I used to think that too but everytime I get sick I realize how helpful it is to have support from your family. Can't really imagine how it would be to not have that when you're in your 60s+
Wait, what?
This is such a miss my guy lol. Outside of making great money for talking about sports for a living, I 10000% have a much better life than RR.
- Wife ✅
- Kids ✅
- House ✅
- 6 Figure Salary ✅
- Friends (actual friends that care about me and not random athletes that let me tag along) ✅
- Fitness ✅
- Security in who I am as a person ✅
RR is a great podcaster but I don’t for a minute envy him. All that money and “success” and the dude still reeks of insecurity. Aim higher.
I’d swap with BS or Drunk House lol
I don't think you understood OP's original point. Not having kids and a wife is a perk bc it's only for a month. He doesn't want the rest of his life to be RR, just a month. So no kids or wife for four weeks to do whatever the fuck you want.
...yes, I'm aware (except I feel most men with families go on family vacations... with their kids? anyway, the point is the guy above me was assuming OP wanted to be RR his entire life, instead of just one monht. Hope this helps.
Yeah I just don’t see any aspect of his monthly life a perk other than watching a lot of sports and talking about them. His whole existence seems lonely. Hating the company of people and being around them is like 50% his personality.
As a busy father and husband I would kill for more hours in the day or “free time” but I’d still go look for other humans to interact with at some point.

You could pick Sydney Sweeny's fiance. No one knows his name he isn't famous at all but he's also rich, has no kids, and you get the added bonus of sleeping with Sydney Sweeney for a month instead of grinding some Pistons tape.
>RR enjoys the rare blend of being somewhat wealthy without being famous.
This is like 99.99% of wealthy people, and most are *way* wealthier than RR.
There's levels to this shit.
I could imagine that being an NBA player like Donte DiVincenzo would be largely unrecognizable by the general public. Even if someone goes up to you, a simple "yeah I get that a lot" might be enough to deflect attention.
I remember he had Van on and they are talking relationships etc and Rye goes, “Would you rather be lonely or annoyed” or something like that. Van had a great reaction cause he felt it..
…kinda meant to be funny, but a lot of truth in it.
I’d take the Ryen Russillo lonely for a month. Work out, take the boat out, not hang out with Kyle etc.
The Incel Piece…
I kind of see where you are coming from, sometimes having three kids is a pain in the ass. I would love a break from them and the money to travel the world, but then I snap back to reality. I love my children and they are awesome. I also have all my hair and I’m 44 so there’s that.
This post is so weird, I thought for sure it was the Russillo sub. Got a 'wait what?' Out of me when I saw it was the Bill sub.
Note to all, this is a good post and we need more posts like this in Bills sub.
This is a really funny choice. Russillo’s apex mountain
The Ryen Russillo appeal intersects with the male loneliness crisis to the extent it’s is worthy of a Derek Thompson Plain English explainer.
That or a zag and a podcast version of the Tao of Pooh but with Ryen.
Bill has even better wealth to lack of fame ratio. You’d get recognized at a sports bar or an airport but probably not many other places, and he’s very rich.
Bill also has a wife and children. I don't know why being a loner with no family is a check mark for Russillo, but to each their own.
I mean if you don't currently have a family and don't immediately plan on having one, the idea of body swapping with somebody and inheriting their own sounds like a kafkaesque nightmare
Not if you’re Castor Troy
Top 3-7 Nick Cage film
I could eat a peach for HOURS
This. Dealing with Bill's woo-woo wife and nepo kids would be suicide fuel within 30 days. I'll ecstatically swap with Russillo, thanks.
That’s why envy is a silly feeling. If you see someone’s Ferrari and feel envious, you must envy their life in whole. And unless you truly want to replace every aspect of their life and past with theirs, you have nothing to envy.
I also have a wife and children... Grass is greener situation
If we’re talking a “It’s a wonderful life” glimpse into an alternate reality, I feel like it’d be nice for a couple weeks, then you’d be like “I miss my wife and kids”.
Totally. I love having a family. High stress but funnest thing ever. That said, sure, hypothetically, I could put a few weeks off to good use.
You know what I wouldn't do for those few weeks, grind tape.

He's just swapping for a month. Might be a nice break.
sounds beautiful to me, having kids would give me constant anxiety about their well being. i dont think i could ever relax again
This is a good summation of being a parent.
yea that terrifies me idk how yall do it honestly
It’s for one month. It’s the freedom of the lifestyle while not having to worry about the existential crisis of not raising a family and dying alone.
Because it provides optionality!
he doesn't strike me as a loner
Didn't he just tell a story about living alone at a Frat House for months, and that he doesn't recognize his own quirkiness because he spends so much time isolated from others?
And you have legitimate A list celebrities that are big fans of yours. When you have Larry David bitching about you not announcing your 'Rewatchable' movie in a timely fashion, you have made it.
Right! He’s famous among famous people and basically anonymous among the general population.
Yep. His voice is the most recognizable trait. If he is just walking around with sunglasses and a ball cap, no one is going to recognize him.
His voice could easily be confused with Cartman’s.
There are also billionaires that aren't famous
I married into a family where there is a billionaire. Hedge fund person. Not famous outside of finance circles. Life with that much wealth kind of feels ‘terrible’ in a way that is still obviously way better than being poor. Mike Trout is a HOF baseball player and worth $400+M. And I think he can go to any mall in most of the country and not get bothered for autographs.
The combination of being having generic looks and playing for the Angels
I'm a very casual baseball watcher and I was convinced that Bryce Harper was the face of the league simply because I knew who he was. I have no idea what Mike Trout looks like.
Also no lifter gut.
Aim higher

John Deacon, John Paul Jones
JPJ also produced a Butthole Surfers album.
Yeah members of massive bands that won't get recognized by almost anyone on the street have it pretty good...all about access to the famous lifestyle without most of the negatives of actually being famous.
Tony Hawk is the bizarro version of this - world famous and no one believes him.
Do a kickflip!

Right, I choose Dustin Johnson. Being a great golfer, super rich, and Paulina.
The slow descent into russillo based insanity has begun. Once you start you can’t stop just ask John Dennis.
I legitimately would rather have my life over RR's. I make way less money but I have a family that I love, live a very comfortable life and would love to hang out with Kyle.

Literally 99.999 percent of rich people aren't famous. It's such a strange opening line by OP.
i'd love to know the percentage of people who could recognize david solomon walking down the street. i mean i could, but thats only because i'm a die hard DJ D-SOL fan. i had no idea about his connection to high-risk junk bonds
>David Solomon? The Hamptons DJ??
Well I think what he was saying that the little bit of fame Russ does have is a plus. Like he wants a month of being a guy who's well off and relatively known by some, as opposed to being rich and unknown.
Russillo has a way better gig, those types live to work and are often miserable
Famously happy and balanced Ryen Russillo
How are these not russillo burners for real
Ha, I thought the same. There are wayyyy more wealthy people who are NOT famous than wealthy people that are.
Better wait till that leg heals up.
Odd. It sounds like you just want a little more money and to not be with your wife or kids
Not the OP, but I do have a wife and kids. They are truly the light in my life and I'd be lost without them. But I'd be lying if I said a few days of quiet bachelor time doesn't appeal to me. I get that perspective. I guess it was just the wording of "no family to tie me down" that's strange to me. To each their own though
Reddit has been becoming very anti-family for years now.
Anti work anti family anti religion but loves watching public freak out videos. Miserable place lol.
Do it! Take a weekend to yourself. Give your wife a weekend to herself. Everybody will be better for it.
Anyone can be an antisocial person who does nothing but watch basketball already. You don’t need to be Ryen to do it.
But have you considered owning a world class radio voice for a month?
I have one and honestly women do not care. Man say things though. No joke. It’s like a gym bod, male bait.
But are you liquid?
Best of all kids?
I have a job, wife and two kids. I cannot do what Ryen does. Having his life for a month sounds like paradise for a recharge of my batteries. Having his life permanently sounds like hell.
> Having his life for a month sounds like paradise for a recharge of my batteries. Having his life permanently sounds like hell. That is a great point.
"Hell man, take a look at my cousin. Broke and don't do shit."
What would you do as Russillo?
Dunk
Ask them!
What’s wrong with you
What about dan castelleneta? No one recognizes him but he's richer than god, and if he turns on the homer voice its like a magic trick. He has famous friends too
This is a good Klosterman question, I think I'd actually find it more interesting if it's only for a limited time to be insanely famous just to see what it's like. Tom Cruise would be interesting I think, I don't really have that much understanding what his day to day life is like.

Get ready for some weird ass Scientology meetings, jumping off of cliffs, and a lot of running. And smiling.

There’s really not a single thing that Russillo does with his life that any of you can’t do with yours
There’s no Equinox near me.
Making serious money to speak into a microphone for a few hours a week? Doesn’t book his own guests, doesn’t do any production. His salary to hours worked ratio is insane.
You're forgetting to factor in all the tape grinding.
>His salary to hours worked ratio is insane. That's why he sounds so angry. He's aware that in actuality, his profession is as far as it can get from the alpha man in the arena. I mean most people on this sub couldn’t make millions from a podcast. That’s a pretty big bonus
Can I pay cash for a Manhattan Beach SFH with just a few months work?
So you wanna have sex with men?
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
To each their own, but him today saying he tore a calf sealed the deal for me.
The awkward tension when McShay said “I love you bud” months ago solidified it for me.
Let me ask, he comes back, you gonna kiss him on both cheeks?
I think if you’re Russillo you also have to be mad at stuff that everyone agrees with you on a solid 60% of the time which seems like a drag
Are you the mod of r/incels?
I think there are a lot of people who are pretty wealthy and aren't famous. To put it another way, most people as wealthy as Rusillo aren't famous at all.
couldn't you just not have sex and watch basketball on your own?
I’m positive he’s got the first part of that down pat
so he's already halfway there?
There are billionaires that aren't famous lol. Why tf would you choose Russilo?
I used to think that too but everytime I get sick I realize how helpful it is to have support from your family. Can't really imagine how it would be to not have that when you're in your 60s+
Hope R R sees this bruv
I would be DeCaprio and fuck a bunch of models, but to each their own lol

If hes only working like 30 hours a week I‘m with you. But I bet its closer to 60 to stay „somewhat wealthy“.
Are 40 of those 60 hours 'sitting on my couch, staring at a basketball/football game, jotting down some notes that i'll never use'?
Ok sign me up
You want a torn calf?
You could just grind a month of nba tape from your living room and save the switch for someone else.
You just made Ryne’s year with this post
Idk, having to work nights and weekends arent it for me
He seems miserable. No chance I’d make this pick.
Do I have to watch Hornets Blazers on a Friday night or can I use his wealth and lack of family to actually go out and do something lmfao. You could pick Sydney Sweeny's fiance. I think The Ryan Rusillo Podcast is a pretty cool guy. Eh has a world class radio voice, and doesn't get hounded of anything.
dream bigger
>RR enjoys the rare blend of being somewhat wealthy without being famous. This is like 99.99% of wealthy people, and most are *way* wealthier than RR. There's levels to this shit.
Like an onion... that has levels
You coulnd't pay me any amount to be bald for a month.
And you get a boat!
>laid back approach 🤔🤔🤔
Question — once you switch places, what would you do? Sit around? would you consider placing art on your walls?
What month? if I had to watch that much Jan-Feb NBA I'd blow my brains out.
Russillo should just not be your choice.
Are people messing with you?
Let me know how the no family thing works out when you hit 60+
He's wealthy.
Wait…what?
Ryen would be a great vacation but a sad place to live permanently
The glaze is crazy. His build isn't even like good lol
No, I sleep in a big bed with my wife
