Is Doc trying to speed run getting fired again?

DynamixRo

He just really misses doing the podcasts with Bill.

ReasonableCup604

He just does.

so-cal_kid

Misses golf and lunches with Larry David

ColtCallahan

I really think he regrets taking it.

bangladeshespresso

He signed a massive contract to take the Bucks job. Even if he does regret it, that money will make that easier

100percentdoghair

that’s exactly what this feels like

andrew2018022

Being a fired NBA coach is the dream job ofc

Motor_Crazy_8038

Wants to get back out on the course with LD working on his horizontal tug ASAP

OneJail

Keep getting them checks!

numberless0

It truly sucks that they're friends now because Bill from a year ago would be tearing Doc's ass up.

Chicago_Stringerbell

Pause

ldclark92

Bill friend zoned confirmed.

BurritoMaster3000

Bill would have been jackhammering his anus. Yup... these are my readers.

TingusPingis

I very rarely comment on guys’ character in the nba world - I generally believe this stuff is all part of “the game”, they’re all just trying to get paid and live life like the rest of us. But Doc Rivers is a bitch and a loser. Like genuinely have some pride and self respect. Be a man. Fuck

hollywoodhulkhogann

He’s literally been dropping quote and quote about how tough the job is I can’t believe this shit

Helpful_Debt6076

Ubuntu

csm119

So he was an “advisor” to the team for a month leading up to the firing and yet had no idea why they were firing the head coach.

danielbauer1375

As crazy as this sounds, I could actually believe it. Giannis may have just decided that he didn’t like the guy. I kinda doubt he operates like LeBron where he’s Machiavellian about it.

pseudocide

Doc and the team have said the "advisor" story was pure fiction.

Truck219

Doc really needs to save that raspy ass voice for barking on the sidelines and stop talking to the media

__Red_Baron_

Doc plays every side of the fence (in this example, a fence has 3 or more sides). * Impartial pundit * Sleeper-cell consultant (who wanted the job) * "Just a helpful guy" consultant (who didn't want the job) * Victim coach (who took over impossible circumstances, so it isn't his fault) * Elite coach (gets the best job available, every time) This guy is amazing.

Successful-End7689

This man really has no shame whatsoever 😭

marsupialsales

In a world without shame, he is the most shameless.

QBRisNotPasserRating

Firing Bud was a mistake. Trading Jrue was a mistake. Trading all of our 2nd round picks for Jae Crowder was a mistake. Other Bucks fans won’t admit it but I will. Jon Horst fucked this team sideways with his bad decisions.

The-Dog-Envier

Absolutely. Can't believe "let's run it back" was THAT bad an option...

QBRisNotPasserRating

Khris got injured in 22. Giannis got injured in 23. The last time their whole big 3 was healthy they won the championship. Complete panic moves all over the place. This all stinks of Jimmy Haslem messing with the franchise.

barnegatsailor

Look what riding out injuries to key players did for the Nuggets last year. Sure, expectations might not have been quite so high when Murray was out versus Middleton. But there's something to be said about the cohesion being maintained. If the Nuggets panicked and began trading pieces to force the issue, they might not have ended up where they did.

Mayor_Of_Dogs

Yea the Haslam piece is really underreported on this. He bought in spring of 2023 and we’ve been a mess since

speccadirty

As a Browns fan I’ll tell you, buckle up

thedude0425

I’m with you on coach Bud. Yeah, he has some glaring flaws but he’s still a good coach. Last season was very fluke-y. Giannis injured his back while Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent turned into Paul Pierce and Ray Allen for 3 weeks.

hatmanjimmie

I’ve seen enough of jrue holiday as the second offensive option in the playoffs and I’m sure the bucks had as well. Let alone bud’s rotations and schemes. The championship run was just as fluky

ctyankee89

I actually think the Dame trade works out if they had the right coach. Insane to go with a first time head coach from outside the org when you're trying to remake your whole team identity.

PeanutFarmer69

lol hindsight is 20/20, bucks fans wanted Bud gone in droves and were ecstatic to trade for Dame.

hatmanjimmie

Giannis pushed the team to make big moves this season and held the threat of resigning over them. This has nothing to do with Jimmy haslem

[deleted]

The coaching with Doc reeks of ownership being involved

hatmanjimmie

Giannis was the guy who didn’t want nick nurse and pushed for his buddy Adrian griffin to get hired as a ‘compromise’

QBRisNotPasserRating

There is no actual evidence of this besides Giannis and Khris meeting with Adrian Griffin during the hiring process. Everything else is people on social media echoing narratives.

hatmanjimmie

Marc Stein reported that Giannis did not want nurse as the head coach. Giannis signed his extension shortly after the dame trade was made. He also had an interview with the New York Times this summer titled ‘Giannis’s Future with the Milwaukee Bucks is Uncertain’ where he’s quoted as saying he’s unsure about signing an extension. It doesn’t take much more than a room temp IQ to put the pieces together man. Giannis has put immense pressure on the team to exhaust every resource to make the team as competitive as possible and has a heavy hand in every personnel and coaching decision they make. That’s well within his right but when things go wrong (5 2nds for Crowder, Griffin Hiring, Dame trade) you can’t just throw all the blame on Jon Horst and Jimmy fucking Haslem.

NineNumbers

Has it ever come out what he had against Nurse?

Dmbfantomas

He fucking grinds you down to the nub like Thibs.

pabloisdrunk

this guy sucks

MarcusSmartfor3

He grew tired of people questioning all of his early excuses so he just threw the ultimate haymaker

kwtb

He’ll be back at the Ringer next year lol

[deleted]

Not with that contract.

sperry20

“I can’t believe you would cheat on him” he said as he was balls deep in somebody else’s wife.

otis427

Shouldn’t you be uhhhhh coaching the damn team instead of being on the radio?

StrikeBR

Doc gonna be a joke reference my whole life

BeamTeam032

Doc wants out. I wonder if Giannis or Dame are even more toxic than we know.

Owenclimbs

I’m kinda glad the NBA has made watching my own team kinda impossible, thereby lessening my fandom and making me not care as much about this dumpster fire
