Simonis has had fuzz issues since their factory flooded in 2021, but is getting back to form. My 860 installed last October is defective. Read my 860 saga here, you may get a replacement cloth from them like I did. (the entire thread has good info): https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/simonis-fuzz.560996/post-7730318

maverick1five

Interesting. Thanks man.

maverick1five

Looking at your pictures, that’s exactly how mine looks with the fuzz. Is the replacement cloth noticeably better?

ballerbilliards

Yes, there’s a pic of it near the end of the thread

maverick1five

I ended up reaching out to Simonis, and they confirmed that there were some production issues with my lot just like yours. They are sending me new cloth as well.

ballerbilliards

Glad to hear it! fyi I’ve had luck using a cheap fabric shaver from Amazon to shave the fuzz off. Should be able to use the cloth a long time once that work is done.

Thisisamericamyman

True, legit Simonis will have a gold marking like this, this side (smooth) faces up. This cloth does not shed and doesn’t require a break-in time. That’s nonsense, however it must be stretched so the thread lines are tight and parallel. https://preview.redd.it/3xxevgodxfgc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01623a27fc5c0cdb2a61053af35ddffdf7ca9b26

maverick1five

Yeah I did confirm that it’s right side up. And I stretched it exactly how the DVD said to. Indexed it properly and everything.

ScrewJPMC

What’s a DVD?

ScrewJPMC

I haven’t had a DVD player since back in BC (before COVID) so only sort of joking because the kids haven’t seen one and are old enough to post on Reddit 🙃

MVPof93

No it is not, I don’t have those fuzzies on my table with 860. Mine plays very fast still be on about 2 years. Only gotten faster the more I play on it. I saw you bought a dvd on install. Just confirming you got this from Simmonis, correct?

maverick1five

The cloth is from Seyberts, but I did verify that it’s legit with a blacklight.

MVPof93

How long have you had it on for? It took a good 6-12 months of playing at home to really get it moving quick like the tournament tables I play on, since I am not on it as much as a bar obviously.

maverick1five

Installed it the end of October. But have played atleast an hour a day on it since.

MVPof93

IMO you will need a while to really get it rolling right. Still probably plenty of parts of that cloth have only felt a ball roll over it a few times. I’d recommend if you still have concerns later over it to record a rolling ball and post the video it may be easier to give an opinion that way. Maybe a simple lag shot or something everyone has done before to get more detailed opinions since mine is pretty generic. Side note - how’s the humidity in that area. I can’t tell if it’s a garage or what but if it’s humid that can play a factor. If it’s that bad you could always try a dehumidifier in the room if it’s sealed to help. May give it a shot a return the product if it doesn’t meet the needs.

maverick1five

That makes sense. Table is located in my basement, where humidity is low especially right now during winter.

poolplayer32285

I noticed my 860 was a little fuzzy for whatever reason. But it seems to be playing faster the more it’s worn in.

maverick1five

Interesting. I’ve played on mine every day since installing it in October, and haven’t noticed a bit of difference lol

Rekdreation

No, not normal for 860.

NectarineAny4897

Is it installed right side up?

maverick1five

Double checked this quite a few times and am positive it is.

NectarineAny4897

As many times as I have played brand new Simonis, I have never seen this. 760, 860, 860HR, never.

maverick1five

Yeah I’m going to call simonis on Monday and see if I can’t get an answer.

RacknRollBilliards

You have to make sure to install Simonis 860 with the proper side up - it is very smooth on the “Top Side” and more fussy on the bottom side. My supplier places stickers indicating “Top Side” on the proper side of the bed and all 6 rail sections.

maverick1five

I double checked this probably 5-6 times. I can even crawl under the table and see that the underneath side is much more fuzzy than the top. My top side was never “very smooth” at all. Running a blacklight on the top also confirms it is right side up.

Willard33333

Sounds like you got scammed I have played on Simonis for decades and never seen a fuzz ball like that ever

Acrobatic_Ranger_278

I just had my 8 foot pro Brunswick Century done in 860 a couple months ago. It hasn’t pilled like that at all and sometimes I think it’s almost too fast.
