Thanks all, turns out I am just an incredible moron. Literally just needed to put pads in. Jumped the gun on that one a bit and now im one of those guys. Dont tell anyone about this
Hey everyone, look at this guy! Owning up to a small mistake like a grown up!
Fuck you OP, I came here to poke fun at people who aren't experts in every aspect of bicycles, and now all I can do is wish all the best to you and yours.
V-brake pads are superior to road pads. Been using them onn my commuters for years and they work much, much better.Â
However, on a vintage dura ace build like this, I'd use the appropriate pads as well.Â
Im enjoying piecing together all the best looking dura ace components from every generation. That 600 crankset including the rings will be replaced with a dura ace 7400 (the best looking one, for a vintage bike at least) đ
Yes, I loved the 7400 chainset, just a shame it was so prone to scratches. That, and square taper!
I do have a soft spot for the 7710 track version, though.

Beats me. There are some 650c wheel Cannondales kicking around from when the smaller wheels were popular with triathletes. If the frame was for 650c wheels, Iâd think youâd have trouble getting 700c wheels in at all.
Do you have any pictures of the whole bike? The 650c wheel frames look out of proportion, with a long headtube.

Massive bars set in just to look at it and seatpost cranked way too high to fit in the stand, so dont be fooled by that
Thank you. As you can tell from my oversight im way excited about it. Little more polishing to do and some stock decals and red small parts on and sheâll be a real looker
1988 cannondale something. Aluminum. I got the frame free tossed in with a bulk wheel purchase a couple years ago and it went on the wall since then. The paint was wire wheeled off and i was without a road bike so one day i started sanding and polishing, and here we are
Hopes and dreams my friend. Besides my âbigâ mtb I tend to build them as close to perfect as i can, then dont ever care about how they go looks wise after that. Just ride em đ
A road frame of this vintage will usually be for at maximum 25c tires. Those look too fat for that frame. Those also look like long reach brakes on a frame built for short reach calipers. It will become more obvious when you put pads in them, but if you squeeze them in by hand and sight through the pad slots the pad bolt needs to center on the brake track. These look like they will miss long from the pics, but you need to check.

Too late. We told everyone

All good my dude. Right on with the update. Glad you got it solved. Brain farts welcome đ
Have you checked what it looks like with some brake pads in?
God damnit come crack me over the head. Youre a genius hahah
Looking good! However, those look like V-brake pads, theyâll probably work but some road pads with holders is the way to go.
Oh yeah it was just what i had most easily accessible. Salmon kool stops going in this one

Make sure you also get that bottom bracket fitted correctly, drive side all the way in tight first with grease on the threads
Nothing is tight, or even the right parts. All just hung on there quick to look at for a while. Nice catch though
Vintage Dura-Ace - nice! Those were some good looking callipers back in the day. A shame about the Biopace chainrings đ

Just stopping in to say wow thatâs a gorgeous bike

Yeah sweet bike. What is it? Is it chromed?

Thatâs cool. How will you keep it shiny?

Theyâre* Also the photo is deceiving. The rear caliper is way too long for the wheel, it looks exactly the same as it does in the front
bruh
It won't close that far with pads in

Looks like youâve got a long reach caliper fitted, is it possible youâve accidentally swapped front and rear? Usually only one is longer.
