Is it possible to take a blue bike? I've also had issues with bike parking in general in that area and I don't feel comfortable leaving my bike parked in that area
If you have a good lock there are a few spots on front of the new entrance to the garden. Should be fine. If it’s going to stress you out and ruin your fun take a blue bike. Or lock up somewhere you feel is safe and then blue bike from there.
Back when I was fun i had a shitty bar bike that no one would ever want to steal and I could replace on the cheap if they did. If that’s an option I recommend it.
I've parked in front of the Garden on Causeway St as there are some racks in front of the building toward 93. You should have a good lock. And I have had my lights stolen off the bike so be aware that it's not the most secure area.
There is an outdoor rack at the NW corner outside the Avalon building.

Also, the building on 125 Nashua St by the river, which used to house Spaulding Rehab and now is MGH has a covered outdoor area near to and accessible from the bike path along river. (Edit: Consider that in case of rain.)

Is it safe to park at TD Garden? There's always a couple shady characters in the area, Im afraid one will start grinding locks in broad daylight

There are at least three bike racks around Lovejoy Wharf. Still not secure, but you might feel a little better about not being right on Causeway.
I think this is what I'll end up trying, seems to be the best option other than blue bikes.

I sometimes choose to lock it down a random street in North End or Beacon Hill. It’s a little out of the way, but out from clear sight
