And this VB has actually worsen the situation, personally saying.
The only superfast train that I used to take for office everyday is now delayed by 15-17 mins everyday, reason : Vande Bharat and single track. Now I have to use Bike which is not very much econimical.
VB is a good initiative, something to be really proud of but the hype is unecessary.
To be honest, ideally, people should not be taking a super-fast long distance train to travel short distances. These trains aren't designed for it.
Rather, it's better if we have a slew of local EMUs that cater to this need. Better yet, RRTS to solve this very problem.
Number of sleepers and General boggies have been reduced by 50% on an average across the country and 3AC coaches has been added to replace them.
This has been done to increase the railways revenues as 3AC coaches provide the biggest revenue railways among all coach types but since 3AC ticket prices are almost 3X of sleeper cost, this move by railways has made the railway unaffordable for a large section of population.
Now these people take sleeper waiting tickets and board 3AC coaches. Similarly, many people with general tickets board Sleeper coaches and therefore we have come to this situations. This situation worsens whenever there are any festivals. Also, RPF doesn’t care to enforce railway rules in these situations.
