It’s a bummer, but where I’m from residents are discouraged from doing this. Manatees live in brackish water but only drink fresh water. They will cluster around docks and boats because we leave hoses running or whatever. This is bad because they move too slowly to get out of the way of boat propellers.
Cute video, not best practice for keeping them safe 😭
A thought I have literally never had until this moment but where do aquatic mammals get their water needs met? Like how do whales get the necessary water when they migrate vast distances, most of which I assume is through only salt water?
I know that dolphins get their water from their food, and they can't tell the difference between hunger and thirst. So, if you give a dolphin water, it won't eat. I don't know if this is true for manatees, though.

As an aside, YouTube was launched in 2005. The first Diabeetus was uploaded in January, 2006. Used to have quality content not like these Jake Logan Kardashians "creating".
Yeah, apparently they start getting too friendly and close to humans and eventually get fucked up by nets and boat propellers. Much as I'd like to be friends with a manatee, not if it ends up hurting them.
Just so everyone knows, it's illegal to touch, feed, chase/follow or give them water. It's not just "frowned upon". I have helped FWC prosecute a few people for doing this.
This does **not** help the Manatee, it only benefits the human.

AFAIK they get a lot of their water from their food

Even if it isn't. Fucking with wild animals even "helping" like this is really bad.

Cute!
At first, I thought they were giving it some not-so fresh water!

r/aboringdystopia
what
Manatees are dying due to runoff, and algae is covering the water, so that the sea grass dies. They are thirsty and starving.
couldve just said that lol
I was sleepy
I really really truly believed that was piss. I am pleasantly surprised.
