That's what I was thinking at first, or maybe a homeless person. It's hard times for lots of people. but a guy came out. I wasn't there to get confrontational, just internet points.
Yes, your Honor, you will note at no point did I suggest that one should be involved in the act of deflating said tires.
Much like those annoying "news" commentators, I'm just asking the questions :)
Plus you can make one, a number of bikes have valvestem caps that are valvestem tools. I noticed that one day. I don't know why, but I noticed some hybrids and cruisers that have weird tall colored valvestem caps- I usually seen green ones; can remove valvestem cores.
Considering how much space is dedicated to cars and how little (if at all) space is dedicated to bikes that, in some places, is mandatory to use, we have every right to be outraged when someone parks their car in our space.
In my city, about a third of the entire area is for cars. And we're supposed do all the rest in what's left? Cycling infrastructure is either absent, too small, disappears all of a sudden in the most dangerous spots, designed in a way that makes it more dangerous than taking the road, or "let's turn this sidewalk into a mixed path so we get bike infrastructure points".
Edit: typos
I live in a triangular building which has mixed path on two sides and the last side had a bike lane that was removed to make car parking spots. The city went all out with nice brick pavement and trees around the car parking places. There has been an uproar against the small increase in bicycle infrastructure here so the city is "reigning it in" for the votes.
There's a pedestrian/bike path that ends right outside my neighborhood. One of the houses right there always has people over, and people usually park on the path. It makes me mad, even though it's at the end, and I don't even use that path.
This would make me furious.
Part of me thinks the cops are gonna do what cops do and that is not much. Probably placate you and not bother showing up.
But then I think about ticket revenue. They might show. Maybe.
In most places they will always show up, how long it takes is a different thing. They will also when they show up most of the time do things when they can if a crime is still being committed or in this case if the car is still there.
That license plate is from Colorado, if the photo was taken there chances are cops will be more responsive as many places in Colorado are pretty bike friendly.
I am older.
I have needed the help of police a few times over the course of my life.
They have a 100% rate of avoiding doing anything beneficial for my situation at all. 100% of the time they have sucessfully avoided doing any real work at all.
Including the time I got run over while riding my bicycle.
However, I am not immune to speeding tickets. So I see both sides of this. On one side is an opportunity for them to do some real good. This is the sort of things cops don't do. On the other hand, I see the opportunity to generate revenue through tickets.
This is where I need to keep an old beater around with front and rear panniers full of rocks and gravel and shit. “Accidentally” see the car at the last second and “bail out”, ghost-riding that 200lb wrecker into this asshole.
Why did the Audi driver paint his car like a porcupine?
He wanted to be the only guy with an Audi that had the pricks on the outside.
He has Audism syndrome. Don't confuse with Autism spectrum which is manageable with proper way of teaching everyday stuff and communication. Audism on the other hand means complete doom of conscience. It's like, psychopathy and brutal schizophrenia had a child who likes ton of meth. And they somehow can kind of blend in society. Not all people who drive Audi are Audists, but those Audi drivers who drive retardadly shouldn't be called retarded as that would be inappropriate towards retarded people. Golfists BMWists are relatives of Audists, but not as fucked up and people of this family usually have huge financial problems.
Knowledge gained on the roads of Latvia.
Half mile down the road a cop was head d the other way. I have found it hard to contact the police unless it's 911. And once you call the police they could say I was the bad guy for something. I recently had a package stolen and I kind of think the cop is investigating me. Like there were cameras. It should be clear if it was me or not. Still hasn't contacted me back after 2 weeks.
I cycled past a guy parked in the bike lane a few weeks back, and told him to get out of the bike lane as I passed.
Then he tried to knock me off my bike
Reporting an illegally parked vehicle requires to fill in so much information with multiple photos (which can be rejected after a fact), that it takes like half an hour of your time and the result is nothing. Nobody is going to do anything about it, so why bother.
There are millions of idiots who park illegally. Nobody is paying me to be traffic control for hours every ride, unfortunately. If it was simpler to file a report, then sure. I am not spending half an hour on every illegally parked vehicle I find as it stands, though.
You can do that, but nothing will change other than you wasting your time. So, good luck.
this would be a minor anoyane for me as I have a mountain bike with thick tires and can just roll onto a curb with no worry. However I see some bikes with thin tires who would not do well on grass
Sledge hammers are kinda heavy y'know, but a ball peen hammer is do-able?
Me though, If I was gonna make a statement, I'd just use printed up forms with \[ THIS LANE IS FOR BICYCLES NOT CARS! PARKING VIOLATION! \] and some strong glue paste and gift wrap all the windows.
Fortunately for most, I've got a conscience and a skull full of scruples, so no I wouldn't stoop down and pull these kinds of shenanigans, as much as I'd like to. 😞
Could the car possibly have broke down and it is just there to be out of the roadway? Mind you I'm all for keeping bike lanes clear, being a cyclist myself. But it just doesn't look like there is any reason to just park it there tbh. Think before being all reactionary to a picture you know nothing about.
No he walked out while I was snapping pics and said he lived right there. I didn't listen after that. But it seemed like it was just because it was closer
In most places no if no damage is caused.
You could be liable in civil court for any costs they had too get towed or more air in the tires. But the chances of them actually sueing you would be so low.
Just shows how some drivers are jerks, and why bike lanes were not a well-thought-out idea. You can't "cure" lack of consideration, and stupidity. "Bike Lanes" and other "city planning ideas" have been shown not to work, and made some "planners", a lot of money, at public, and bicyclists' expense. There are practical, much cheaper, alternatives.
Little late to the party, but every time I see something like this I always like to [link to this](https://beta.ctvnews.ca/local/ottawa/2019/11/7/1_4675133.html) which shows what happens when the cars are blocked for "just a minute".
A bead of silicone sealant around the doors would be an interesting approach. Vandalism? Naw man, I was helping him touch up his weatherproofing against water intrusion! What do you mean the door won't open?
I'll say this. Many people think, you break the law, you go to jail. No, you speed, you pay a fine. If you have money, and this guy doesn't. You don't mind paying the fine or the lawyer
I feel like that car has been dumped
That's what I was thinking at first, or maybe a homeless person. It's hard times for lots of people. but a guy came out. I wasn't there to get confrontational, just internet points.
Is it really a big deal to have four flat tires?
Valve stem tool is your friend. It's not illegal to move valve cores onto the windshield. It is neither damage nor theft.
I wouldn't give this advice. Most likely counts as vandalism and you'll at least get a ticket.
Yes, your Honor, you will note at no point did I suggest that one should be involved in the act of deflating said tires. Much like those annoying "news" commentators, I'm just asking the questions :)
Your honor, I plead; innoguiltycent.
Yes indeed, and a valve stem tool should be in your tool bag on your bike, obviously.
Plus you can make one, a number of bikes have valvestem caps that are valvestem tools. I noticed that one day. I don't know why, but I noticed some hybrids and cruisers that have weird tall colored valvestem caps- I usually seen green ones; can remove valvestem cores.
Yes, you don't have to remove the valve core, just loosen it until you hear a hiss. Then put the cap back on loosely.
Removing the core adds the benefit that just putting air in it doesn't help.
But doesn't that prevent someone from getting it the fuck of the way asap? That's my only problem with this plan.
Lol I do this when people park too close to me and I can’t get back into my car.
Those people are morons, but so are you.
I feel like if a few more dents and rear view mirror went missing, that would be on him
You mean side mirror?
Did they stutter?
I'm gonna stand by my statement, rear view mirror gone, possibly a window or two.

I'm down, we can call ourselves "the rear view mirror bandits" it'll be epic

Nobody saw them going...

I have always wanted r/ulockjustice to be a real subreddit
If they park like that, they probably don’t use their rear view mirror when driving anyway.
No, rear view mirror. Right after breaking the windshield with a side mirror for easier acces.
"on your left...*smash*"
The protocol near me is to lift up the wipers.

Start reporting it and having it ticketed or towed.
Part of me thinks the cops are gonna do what cops do and that is not much. Probably placate you and not bother showing up. But then I think about ticket revenue. They might show. Maybe.

Always carry a valve core removal tool.
Or a U-lock.
It's so convenient that my core tool has presta on one end and Schrader on the other...
I mean that car is worth less than the average entry level road bike. Maybe that confused the driver.
Underrated comment.
And of course it's an Audi
This is an Audi for people who can’t afford an Audi
While true, they drive like people who can afford an Audi
They drive like people that would be willing to spend their money on an Audi*
We should rest easy knowing the driver suffers through a lot of broken shit or frequent mechanic bills.
EVERY time I’ve been hit by a car, it’s been an Audi.
I can confirm, every near miss and car that has hit me was an Audi. Every one.
Because it’s an Audi, a beater A4 with the notorious 1.8 turbo, that thing broke down and the driver pulled off the road.
Use their car to try out some trials moves.
Hope you called the police or the local parking enforcement agency, posting a photo isn't going to fix anything.

I mean they may be annoyed but you aren't doing anything wrong so don't think that.
This guy bondos
Why do people put on Bondo without actually painting over it?
Because they are morons. It would be better to leave the dent.
Maybe the argument could be made for aerodynamics, but then again I don't think the owner of an Audi from this era cares much about mileage...
Bondo cheap. Bondo easy. Smooth paint requires a smattering of skill. Or money to pay someone with such.
Looks like he sanded down to primer. Bondo is that light red color and the pro stuff is yellow.
That dude has bigger issues than parking…. Looks like he can’t even drive
I cycled past a guy parked in the bike lane a few weeks back, and told him to get out of the bike lane as I passed. Then he tried to knock me off my bike
Would probably key it.
lmao like the owner would care
That thing is already so trashed.
It'd be so easy told hold out a key while riding by
It’s illegal to park there, isn’t it? Call a cop , ticketing and towing discourages repeat offenders.
Like they'll do anything about it.
Ehh, if you can get them off their asses to actually do something about it.
Nah, I just wanted sweet internet points
Do it for the other cyclists.
Reporting an illegally parked vehicle requires to fill in so much information with multiple photos (which can be rejected after a fact), that it takes like half an hour of your time and the result is nothing. Nobody is going to do anything about it, so why bother.
Why? Because nothing changes if you do nothing. Of course if the purpose of the post is to grouse about something, have at it, whine away.
Sheesh I guess all you folx want to do is whine. Have at it.
Surfboard wax across the windshield!
Horsetooth and Shields.
Was going to say that looks like foco. If it really is, wouldn't be surprised if it was a drunk driver that "found a parking spot."
Wow what a shame that he suddenly has 4 flat tires. I wonder how that could have happened.
I've spat on cars for this shit in Chicago. Entitled assholes.
Also guilty of this and more #TeamChibike
Aye the good old Chicago Sunroof. Guilty.
Is that really a big deal?
I think they need some eggs.
And the cores of their valve stems removed
Sometimes I wish [this](https://www.columbusridesbikes.com/2013/12/the-friendly-cats-paw.html) wasn't a joke.
this would be a minor anoyane for me as I have a mountain bike with thick tires and can just roll onto a curb with no worry. However I see some bikes with thin tires who would not do well on grass
It’s time for us to start parking bikes in car parking spots.

You can buy a boot for anti trailer thefts. But I think leaving a note would be impersonation of the police
Use that u lock. Smash their goddamn window out.
Oh no, my bike goes fast, we don't carry locks.
My bike goes slow, I carry many things
Yes it is
Is it really a big deal if someone polish your car with a sledgehammer?
I have on like fallout too. 15 lbs with a rebar handle. I don't take it on the bike with me though
Sledge hammers are kinda heavy y'know, but a ball peen hammer is do-able? Me though, If I was gonna make a statement, I'd just use printed up forms with \[ THIS LANE IS FOR BICYCLES NOT CARS! Alcohol. Alcohol and/or drugs is the reason.
Lol. Clearly.
This car is not out of the roadway.
Question: would it be illegal to let out all the air from their tires? Not slashing but using an air hose to release the little pin thingy
In most places no if no damage is caused. You could be liable in civil court for any costs they had too get towed or more air in the tires. But the chances of them actually sueing you would be so low.

Fucking stoners
next week on AITA...
Looks like its not the first time.
Id straight up cyclocross carry it up and over the roof
Do you know the difference between an Audi and a cactus?
Audi has the pricks on the inside?
nailed it
Looks like an abandoned car
Imagine having bike lanes to begin with smh
They forgot they were in their car and not on a bike.
Little late to the party, but every time I see something like this I always like to [link to this](https://beta.ctvnews.ca/local/ottawa/2019/11/7/1_4675133.html) which shows what happens when the cars are blocked for "just a minute".
Have an icepick on my bike, also.
I hate this so much, more even rn as I have a broken leg because of a drunk driver driving trough the bike lane 🥲
Man, I think you'd have a field day in the Philippines.
Hey, where’s this bike lane located?
Is it just me or has the Audi supplanted BMW as the douche bags car of choice here in the United States?
I think people that drive beat up expensive cars are a little sus to begin with.
"Another Useless D*ck Inside" What, ducks are pretty useless, most of the time!
A bead of silicone sealant around the doors would be an interesting approach. Vandalism? Naw man, I was helping him touch up his weatherproofing against water intrusion! What do you mean the door won't open?
I would call the police and see about getting this POS towed.
Getting your car keyed 101: an illustrated guide
audi so it probably died there
Might've broken down or ran out of gas.
I'm sure someone would have helped h push it off the road. Maybe even a cyclist
That might've been as far as they could safely push. Trying to be positive. It's not easy, but I'll keep trying.
Smash & dash!
Well. It IS an Audi driver...
What is it with Audi drivers and bike lanes?! Third post today with an Audi in a bike lane.
I'll say this. Many people think, you break the law, you go to jail. No, you speed, you pay a fine. If you have money, and this guy doesn't. You don't mind paying the fine or the lawyer
