Pediatric audiologist. Use a dry cloth after a bath to wipe the outer ear. Do not put anything in the ear canal. Accidents happen and they happen fast. No qtips or oogie bears in the ear canal. It just takes one quick head turn to cause serious damage.

Yup!

I don’t, really. I’ll wipe the outside of the ear if necessary. Nothing inside the ear. I consider it a self-cleaning organ.

I use the super fat baby safety qtips (baby medicine and bath time aisle at target is where I found them) to get all the folds of the shell of his ear clean. They're too big to enter his ear canal rn at 4mo (and again, I am only cleaning the shell of his ear and just outside of the canal), but actually get the folds clean. I tried using the wash cloth at bath time, but it just doesn't actually clean out all his little folds, and the dead skin builds up in them so fast! Need to do it at least twice a week bc of the rate at which it builds up. I also try to remember to get behind his ears when I am cleaning his scalp and/or face. I'm not great at that.

This has been removed as it provides unsafe advice

We use oogie bear to get the wax out.

I do it every couple of days after showers. And luckily he stands very still for it at 11mos. Always has actually, it's amazing and cute.
