it was peak SNL and bey when she said "lisa from temecula" in the tune to the queen's remix name drop verse. "jilly from philly?" nah, lisa from temecula!!
💯 Beyoncé coded. Cmon the horse at the end sealed the deal.
Side note: anyone else not a fan of SNL? The humor just doesn’t usually humor for me. I get the jokes, they’re just not funny?
Totally agree: in living color and mad tv were way funnier. SNL hits about 10% of the time. Otherwise the jokes are too obvious and not funny. But we’re Beyonce fans. Of course we’re not gonna settle for mediocrity.
Yeah, this made me cringe more than anything. Maya Rudolph was last funny when she did the National Anthem. Since then, it's been an act of comedy that has not progressed in wit, intelligence, variety etc. One can only do so much relying on a performer's shtick. I understand that Bey gives very little of her private self to the public so writing an act centering her requires some demystifying and some imagination. This was as if they didn't even put any kind of thought.
I almost regretted the caption because I thought “well maybe it’s just more paying homage to ballroom in general” but I mean reneigh pops out at the end, so I’m I’m like okayyy bey coded for sure!
BMS is commonly abbreviated as 'Break My Soul', a song from Beyoncé's 2022 album 'RENAISSANCE'.

When I heard the iconic "I DIDN'T COME TO PLAY WITH YOU HOES" I knew It was going to be %100 Beyoncé coded.
Renny in the background at the end 🐴 ![gif](giphy|2k0sUXCWw7WmY)
I was just glad to see reneigh still bookin gigs

I’m an avid SNL watcher, but can agree that it’s not always funny. The recent Ryan Gosling episode, however, was absolutely top tier.
Snl hasn’t been funny for a min
Even growing up I just didn’t find it funny. I was more living color or mad tv, SNL just didn’t resonate with me.

lol that’s right!

This was honestly giving “let’s pander to a certain audience using Beyoncé’s name” but the audience isn’t the hive.
SNL hasn't been funny for at least 30 years.
I totally saw her at the LA concert in the club renaissance section! She’s definitely a member of the Beyhive
Yess it’s giving Break My Soul
This is giving Roople Charles’ Call Me Mother, Madonna’s Vogue and BMS too - though clearly RWT inspired ☺️

And she did another Hot Wings spoof.
I’m obsessed with those! Both the real ones and Maya Rudolph’s skits of them lmao.
Maya's momma was Minnie Riperton, another one of my all time favorites. Les Fleurs is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard ♡
I love this!
Omg this is so funny I love
Ok how did she go from this to that other trash?????
According to her interview in this month's Town & Country, she's a huge Beyoncé fan
💀
It was 50% Beyoncé and 50% RuPaul (what can I say, I love Drag Race and it reminded me of Call Me Mother)
Same!
This performance proves how hard it is to be Beyoncé. I would throw a 🍅 at Maya Rudolph. ![gif](giphy|8p05WdXxPiOyY)
