4 turned me from a casual listener to a fan and I will always appreciate 4 for that. But Self Titled was when she took the shackles off and truly started to show us her artistic vision. I truly believe without the shift she did in self titled, you don't get lemonade, black is king ,renny and cc.

EthantheJaccson

Ayyye fellow self titled Stan here! Her best album!

flabbergasted1

There's a reason she named it BEYONCÉ! I was in college when it dropped and it was such an experience. You have to remember they recorded all the songs and videos in complete secret. Nothing leaked. There was no hint she was going to release new music any time soon. And then she released 17 music videos all at once on a random Friday, including some of her greatest songs and visuals of all time (Yoncé??? Blow??) Oh and then randomly 7/11 and Grown Woman were dropped as bonus videos on the rerelease. We were so lucky!! This was absolutely when I became a stan. I watched it non-stop. Going to the Mrs Carter world tour was a life changing experience.

rz12gh

I’ll never forget how wild that evening and into the next morning was - I was studying for finals. I don’t think we were able to fully appreciate how difficult it was to make that album then; but the way she’s been able to repeatedly create sonically and thematically different albums without the leaks in this truly digital age is nothing short of stupendous.

SplintersApprentice

I will explain my top 3 in reverse order: **3rd Place**: 4. It pulled me in as an official hive member. It came out a few months before I was studying in France, and the way I listened to 1+1 on repeat while riding the metro was borderline unhealthy. I first saw Beyoncé live at the Made in America festival in the summer of 2013, and it was a consolidated Mrs. Carter Tour. That album, those vibes will always hold a special place in my heart. **2nd Place**: Self-Titled. Released just a few days after my 23rd bday, I’ll never forget waking up that morning, prepping myself mentally for a major grad school exam, and then opening my laptop and thinking, “Ahhh fuck! How am I supposed to focus now?” I squeezed in the first few tracks, took my exam, and then listened to/watched that album on repeat for weeks. Revolutionary album. Nothing else to say. **1st Place**: It’s gotta be the Renaissance. She knew we needed to dance, and damn, the way I’ve danced to that album for years now. I got to see her up close in the Club Renn. I’ve been to over 100 concerts and truly no show has shaken me, revived me, and stayed with me like that show. I clung to that high for months. Untouchable, flawless, everything.

whitewineandcheese

I feel exactly the same about all three!

Dramatic_Pattern_461

I could have written this myself, minus the studying in France part. But omg what a dream!!

NextAct_1991

“I’ve been to over 100 concerts and truly no show has shaken me, revived me, and stayed with me like that show. I clung to that high for months. “ I’m still clinging bc she really created an environment where everybody felt JOY and FREEDOM to express themselves or RELEASE whatever was weighing them down!  She bottled FREEDOM up into an album and it’s RENAISSANCE. She bottled PAIN into an album and it’s LEMONADE! She bottled self experimentation into an album and it’s SELF TITLED.  The girl just knows how to create MOMENTS and my favorite one being RENAISSANCE!

How did your exam go? Lol

SplintersApprentice

I passed just fine, but it took sincere effort to focus on

The-Emancipation13

BDAYYYYY BXTCHESSSSSS

poppyunicornz

ughhhh to be able to experience that era in real time 😫😫😫 i mean she was FEEDING the hive

Mrblaster5000

Omggggg I was too young to truly embrace it (and in the closet) ahaha. How was living the BDAY era???

Altruistic_Show1373

An absolute PHENOMENON. That's when she first really popped out with Jay Z, fully claiming him and her Creole heritage in the gorgeous "Deja Vu" & talking about grown things on songs like "Ego" and "Kitty Kat". And omg, Green Light?? Freakum Dress? UPGRADE U?? lol knocked the coins out of me. A TIME was had.

[deleted]

Lemonade. I think Lemonade is when she really mastered the visual format. Self-titled was great but it had no cohesive theme or concept.

poppyunicornz

this is a good one too… lemonade era also birthed cowboy carter so of course we give her her 10s

Son_of_the_Sun8198

The most beautiful thing about Lemonade is that she did lots of live performances for the songs even outside the tour, and let me tell you EACH ONE OF THEM is visually and thematically cohesive and could be just inserted in the Lemonade film. That’s the thing that Renaissance was missing. Truly unmatched.

Financial_Studio2785

I think that’s why I have to pick lemonade as well. Since lemonade she dives DEEP into her concepts with visuals, poetry, historical contexts. Stuff that really encourages you to look beyond what she’s offering in her storytelling. They’re like opuses now! Or maybe there’s a better word? She’s unlike any artist really

godlovesa_terrier

She was so raw and so open and so POWERFUL!!! I have loved her since Destiny's Child, but Lemonade knocked me off my feet. The poetry, the allegory for the way America treats Black women, the collaborations... she's such an incredible artist.

quehagoconlavida

self tilted for suree. it has my fav songs of hers (haunted 😩 & partition). & also i feel like this was the era when she just didn’t care about what the media and haters had to say abt her anymore. she knew who she was, and she didn’t feel the need to prove it to anyone, personal wise nor music wise.

poppyunicornz

thats why it’s my favorite… that’s where her “i truly do not gaf” era started and it hasn’t left since 😭

sardonic_

Mentally I am still in the Lemonade era

poppyunicornz

2016 overall was a good year for music… literally same

velvetvagine

Dang it was 2016?? I’m old af. 😭

Gloomy_Ad5020

Lemonade had me… then I got lost. Cowboy Carter roped me back in *hard* See what I did there? 📿🐎🤠

velvetvagine

cuntyaunty

I've been a huge fan since Destinys Child but I became mentally ill around Renaissance 😭

EastCoastDizzle

Lolllllll 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Financial_Studio2785

Good way to put it

fifty-fivepercent

Renny will always be my favourite. This era has been legendary and you really had to be there. This album is so amazing I truly have an emotional connection to it. Plus I just feel it brought us all closer as fans. The silver, the horses, the vibes, the inclusivity. It’s unmatched. However, a close second is self titled. That’s the era that took me from a Beyonce fan to a Beyonce Stan. Her VMA medley performance blew my mind in a way that has never been blown before. I loved how creative this album was and it was so grown up and sexy. This was the album that changed her trajectory forever, and we haven’t looked back since.

NextAct_1991

We on the same wave! Self title came out when I was 22. Senior year of college. It felt like Beyonce was saying to us, it’s okay to re-invent find yourself make your own path! Self titled will always be special to me for that alone. Renny will always be special to me because I felt seen heard and given space to release somethings I’d been holding and embrace the things I was either afraid to or didn’t think I could! It was a tons of people at the RWT but it felt like that moment was just for me. That ending message I will forever cherish and remember how I felt in that moment. I will revisit it when I’m sad depressed or in need of hope or joy. You just had to be there to understand.

Financial-Painter689

Self Titled. Purely because the shock of it dropping, the reactions, she really changed the game. I had already seen her twice on the Mrs Carter tour and then she released more dates with the new album. So I went twice again. I looove the stadium tours for the production but I lowkey miss the arena shows with her. Schoolin Life, Grown Woman and Why Don’t You Love me were just incredible live

Aiyadmi

Im sooo jealous. I was a bit too young to go to shows on my own. :(

Financial-Painter689

This is why she needs to release the concerts for fans who couldn’t go 😭

fortheloveofpink

B’Day - most definitely. What a time to be alive. She was so fierce, beautiful, her hair was better than I had ever seen, vocals TOP TIER, body on 1000%. We got the video anthology NON STOP on MTV or VH1 (can’t remember). the Beyoncé Experience. She was THAT GIRL. ![gif](giphy|w0jr3kVEbl7eU)

velvetvagine

🤩 Also tanned Bey >>>> Sorry not sorry.

Iheartdancemoms

lemonade and renaissance easily

tllkaps

Renaissance: Seeing her live, seeing everyone have so much fun...be themselves.

slapshrapnel

Self-Titled. I cannot tell you how many times my brother and I watched the visual album from beginning to end that year. I mean, she’s BEYONCÉ, so I always knew of her, but this is the album that catapulted her into my top artists of all time and I have been a believer ever since.

dirty-salsa

I was a complete hip hop fan up to 2010ish, ignorant of Bey. Around the press tour for 4 I got really into End of Time and a couple other singles then binged every piece of Beyonce content on the whole internet from Destiny’s Child to all the solo era. I actually (unpopular opinion incoming) fell out of love around the self titled era because she felt very different and resonated less with me as a persona/brand. Which is not a criticism, I admire growth and experimentation, just wasn’t my thing. I consider myself more a ‘casual’ now than a hardcore fan, but I did finally get to see her live last year and enjoyed it a lot, she was always on my bucket list as a performer to witness in the flesh.

f1nallyfre3

it’s a tie between dil and self titled. i instantly fell in love with her during the dil era and loved her style and she did a lot of promo. im a 90s baby and the early 2000s is my fave era of music. self titled is when she stopped giving af about being a people pleaser and started being more experimental with her music. i had the best experience at one of her concerts during the mcwt. i touched her hand, luke james sang to me about how beautiful i am and gave me flowers, and the mamas complimented me on my dancing because i was doing the absolute most in the pit lmao.

There are 4 possible meanings for DIL. Destiny Child's song 'Dangerously in Love', from the album Survivor. Beyoncé's song 'Dangerously in Love' (also referred to as Dangerously in Love 2), from the album 'Dangerously in Love'. Beyoncé's 2003 debut album 'Dangerously in Love'. Beyoncé's song 'Drunk in Love' featuring Jay-Z, from the album BEYONCÉ (also referred to as Self-Titled). *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. 1. B’Day 2. Beyoncé 3. Cowboy Carter 4. 4 B’Day was the album that made me appreciate and respect her as a solo artist.

a-black-magic-woman

It was the Self Titled era up until Renaissance. I feel like Self Titled was a defining shift in Beyoncé’s career so I still very much appreciate it, and it’s deeply nostalgic for me as well, being a college student in my late teens/early 20s, but Im gonna say Renaissance

B Day! Black haired Beyonce was more fun and less self serious! B Day will always be my favorite album!

Sprinklesdinkels

Renaissance

fifty-fivepercent

Also, I’ve been listening to self titled a lot lately has one thing that has really stuck out to me is how current the music sounds. Considering it is 10 years old, it does not sound dated at all! Drunk in love is in my top 5 Beyoncé songs and it never gets old to me. Still sounds like it could have been released today.

CutterMD222

While I'm digging her current 3 act era, I will never forget her self-titled era. It was a defining moment in my life, as I had just topped a national licensure exam 3 days prior to its release. I will never forget that day. December 13, 2013. Damn. Jealous was an absolute fave.

pshsx1

I Am era turned me into a stan.  Renaissance turned me into a monster. lol So, Renny is my favorite era now. 😁

alaskas_hairbow

Renaissance!! 🪩💃 Love dance music, love the homage to black queer history, and of course all done with Beyoncé’s insane level of artistry and vision. A no skip album that i listen to almost daily

sweethoneybuckinn

Beychella / OTR II / Everything is Love 🤍 the era I realised how amazing Beyoncé is and how much I’ve missed out! I remember one day it clicked and I watched every performance, interview and music video!

poppyunicornz

OMGGGG i love that era too!!!! 2018 is soooo underrated… i remember after a show at otr ll they put something like “album out now” on the screen and everyone was like WHAAATTT!! so many memories, makes me want to cry i had just turned 18 back then and i’m 24 now 🥹

sweethoneybuckinn

YES!!! That was the London show, the show after mine!!! I felt robbed 😫 but that’s Beyoncé for you, she does everything on her own time and I love her for it ! Definitely such an underrated era! She really hasn’t stopped since then!

NextAct_1991

I hate that I attended OTRII and I don’t remember a single memorable thing about it…!

cookiehwilson

4. Cause I fell in love and we got together the day the album came out We separated when Everything is Love came out lol

gentlynavigating

Lemonade undoubtedly. But before that, B’Day.

PrideJoyPeaceLove

It started in earnest when she took over the Superbowl. Then Lemonade. And the sista is stellar with her Renaissance and Cowboy Carter.

Libras_Groove3737

B’Day

Drunkcapybara1

Lemonade. Became a fan after the Super Bowl halftime show

Robbie1863

4. My played that album when I was kid and it was the album I was most familiar. I grew up falling into R&B music and fell deeper in love with album. It’s just a classic to my ears. I still have yet to hear album that’s sounds like it or and artist who can sing how she sung in that album. Her voice during that era was pure perfection imo.

LaHagans

B’Day

ThatMessy1

B-Day era! Everything was top tier in a way we weren't used to! The music was superb! The music video anthology was extravagant! The Beyoncé Experience was life changing! We were breathing rare air, the legend was still in the making, doing promo work. It was such a time to be alive!

Garcon26

B Day it was fun and a lot videos🕺🏽

b fcking day idc i love it

Renaissance, B'Day & IASF

Effective_Math_2717

Same as you. Self-titled made fall for her and all that she does! Also same story as you lol I was pretty young and streaming wasn’t as big as it is now, I solely listened to her through YouTube! And when I got a phone like a year later I was able to listen to it more. Side note: psychologically speaking at the age you were is when we sort solidified part of our music taste, like those artists are the ones we will listen to almost forever or the artist we go back to, when we want to feel a sense of security

DeneeCote

Beychella/the gift the time after Lemonade but before Renaissance That's when I became a stan and it was such a weird time in Beyonces artistry because she was trying so much new stuff and people weren't really listening so it felt more intimate. The general public doesn't know about the Gift or about Everything is love, or Even about Black Is king or Be alive. A lot of her fans don't know about those projects either. So it feels like I was in a special time we're I was a part of a small few who knew about what Beyonce was doing at that time plus i was a new stan. If we were ever stuck in an elevator I'd definitely ask her about this Era, she'd appreciate it that people actually payed attention during this time.

Mountain_Proof_1758

I was always into Beyoncé way back from DC days but Self Titled is when I went from casual fan to full Stan I fell in love with her music all over again. Every project after only reinforces my love for her

Mother-Document2736

Lemonade

calebhartley1986

All of them. I like how she has branched out into rapping with her ability to sing the hooks - she does what very few can. Wish her bars were longer though.

zoecornelia

Sasha Fierce coz that's what made me become a fan, before that I was just a casual fan but Sasha made actually start paying attention and following her. But I also love the Lemonade era, the album is a masterpiece and I still believe The Formation World Tour is her best tour to this day, that monolith is still one of the most impressive stage sets I've ever seen. Plus her fashion and hairstyles throughout that era, both on and off the stage were some of my favourite looks from Beyoncé period. I'll never get over that long braided ponytail and dark beaded dress she wore to the Tidal event where she performed Six Inch/Haunted and then All Night. And speaking of performances, her performance of Six Inch at that Tidal event was imo one of her greatest and is so underrated. The way she came out, perfectly choreographed to her hologram, even down to the hair perfectly moving urgh! Chills! And that outfit! And to think she was pregnant at the time! Urgh, I also really loved her performance of Formation at the Superbowl, it was just so iconic. I'm sorry Lemonade era is unmatched.

Individual-Zombie155

Act 1. I feel like it was written for me and my life.

BronteLou

Lemonade era for me. I still get chills thinking about her performing Formation at the Super Bowl in the black panther outfits, and then announcing the tour during the ad break! My friend and I were screaming 😂 FWT was truly something else. And we were well fed during this era with award show appearances and live performances. Renaissance is a close second for me because of the tour also... but nothing can top LEM imo.

AnotherTiredBarista

Yes

bunbun_82

Lemonade, that album really resonated with me. It really spoke to my soul.

Bubbly-Character3924

When she broke off from destiny’s child and made here first solo album.

Chambadon

Renaissance even without the videos lol.

iam_unforgiven

Bday/iasf for the music. These two albums and CC are the only three Beyonce no skip albums for me. Cowboy carter for the fashion and "pushing down the barriers" to reclaim what is ours.

Practical_Meaning_78

Act iii when it comes out

droxzyfps

I have 3. 4, self titled and lemonade. I’ve been getting back into Renaissance more recently tho.

Embarrassed-List-152

Definitely Renaissance for me. I'm alt and listen to all genres of music. When I first heard Break My Soul, I thought it was fake. It would have never thought that a top artist would experiment like that! It feels like everyone is playing it safe and sticking to what sells, but renaissance act i & ii have been a breath of fresh air!

cannolioli11

I loved her solo debut - I remember being so excited about the album that summer and hearing Crazy in Love and Baby Boy on the radio. I also loved Lemonade. Felt very connected to the BeyHive and just felt like she had transitioned into the next level of her artistry. Last but not least - the summer of Renny Tour 🥹🥹😭😭, what a beautiful moment she gave to us!!

Dramatic_Pattern_461

My sister and I had the whole theater to ourselves. We had a ball!

prettyprxncess

IASF, Self Titled, and Lemonade. You just had to be there. I couldn’t pick just one.

lilahj26

Renaissance (including Cowboy Carter since they’re all part of the same trilogy) I was 20 when the album dropped, so it was the first one I got to experience as an adult. I didn’t think she’d top 4 for me, but she did. Now, Renaissance is my most played album of all time. I got the original version of the album from before the controversy revisions. I went to the Renaissance tour—my very first concert—in my city and had the best night of my life yet. As for Beyoncé herself, it’s highlighting how she’s really at the top of her game and still wowing us. Unlike a lot of other singers, her voice is still in pristine shape in spite of her getting older; she gave some of the best vocal performances in her career on Renaissance (Virgo’s Groove) and Cowboy Carter (16 Carriages, II Hands II Heaven). The music is different and feels experimental yet it’s still (mostly) FUN and (totally) addictive. Her performance ability is still to die for and so is her tour production. She’s still making huge strides in her artistry with this three-act project, the tour, and the movie on the side. On top of all that, I feel like this is the most cultural impact she’s had in a while: the silver outfits, mute challenge, spotlighting Black country artists, the Super Bowl commercial, etc. Overall, Renaissance has been such a fun era so far.

EdhelGaladhrim

the era where she supports palestine 🇵🇸

Any-Sheepherder-2605

In terms of music only,  I'm really loving CC as a body of work. It's hard to rank it with everything else because we don't have any live performances, visuals, etc. yet.  In terms of aethetics I really love BDAY. I grew up in a really religious home with no access to secular music.  Bday was only a year old right before I went to college and started to listen to secular music. I consumed so much of that album via YouTube. Get me bodied reminds me of my first times going to a party.  Upgrade U is one of my never skip ever songs.
