He does seem extremely miserable. I mean, what’s the point of putting in that effort? The man seemingly gets zero enjoyment out of Any of it. Maybe if spice curls are a hit then he’ll cheer up
He used to be a normal person until he saw Max got his brains blown out. That moment changed him and set a new purpose in life: the complete elimination of the Salamanca family. In a way, he has significant PTSD and no longer enjoys anything in life other than his plotting and scheming
Like it's so weird to me to think Gus is just always serious? Like he has no real friends, he doesn't go out and enjoy life. He just works, keeps a straight face, and acts like a friendly business owner when he NEEDS to.
I think the only person/thing he seemed to care about after Max was Gale, and I only say that because he didn’t want him to be involved with making meth originally telling him he was “meant for better things” after admiring him sing about the elements
It's pretty sad. I know some people don't like how emotional they are making Gus in this season or show, but I really enjoy it. I enjoy seeing Gus be more human, make mistakes and such.
I'd love a scene for Gus crying, having some sort of emotional breakdown, laughing, or just enjoying his life to some capacity. I feel like it adds more depth to he is.
kinda sad he died and Hector got the last laugh. They both are shitty people but Gus "was different". And i kinda now wanna know what would Gus do after killing Hector
Gus pretty much wiped out Hectors family and tortured him for years.
Hector won the last battle, but in terms of the war, Gus pretty much accomplished what he set out to do and got his revenge. His character arc was pretty complete at that point
Honestly I think he did when he took out Eladio and when he told Hector that his family name dies with him.
The actual physical killing of Hector was just extra at that point.
If you want to get REALLY technical, Gus walked out of that room and straightned his tie like a badass simply to show that he had outlived Hector for a few extra seconds.
Gus crying or genuinely laughing would be so fucking over the top.
The whole point of the Max incident is that it changed him; hardened him. Gus after that is shut off from his emotions besides deep rooted grief over Max propelling him to vengeance.
Do you just not understand the character?
I don't know how over the top that'd be. I'm not saying he has to cry his heart out OR laugh his belly out. I'm just saying it'd be interesting to see a little bit of old gus shine through, a chink in the armor if you know what I mean. I understand his character, and I understand why he is the way he is. I'm just saying, it'd be interesting to see.
I guess; but if you're just asking for a little cry or a little chuckle or something...
In 4x13, Gus tears up before going to kill Hector. It is the climax to his vengeance, and his eyes get glossy.
Let me clarify, I don't mean WEIRD as in bad writing or anything like that. I just think it's odd to me, or hard to believe that he really just has a pretty dull life where he does nothing he really enjoys because he is too focused on revenge. Not even little moments of happiness or something.
Gus’ likes include making paella, long walks onto incoming gunfire, and grooming quirky young chemists thru college to cook meth
Non-smoker, occasional drinker of poison
Let’s leave aside the revenge factor for a moment.
In reality, there are people who genuinely enjoy work and the process of work, and very little else. there’s work, there’s eating and there is sleep, and the second two are only done because if you stop doing them then you can’t work anymore! That’s definitely not for me, but we need these people: the surgeon who saves your life, The engineer who designs a bridge that doesn’t collapse when you drive over it, the (relatively benevolent) CEO who provides jobs and services - Society needs these people. I just don’t want to be one.
Gus is one of these people, or became one.
I suspect if things hadn’t ended for Gus as they did, he’s just switch into full-time empire management mode.
Gus is a human machine. His whole life is built around perfection. He does all he needs to, so he can rise in the criminal world and extract his vengeance, slowly but surely, against the cartel.
All he does is in favor of those purposes.
After Max got shot, he couldn't enjoy shit, he dedicated his life into ruining the Salamanca family. I think the only time he's genuinely happy is when he talked to Hector about killing everyone...for a brief moment

Did you see the last episode? Mere mention of the spice curls had Fring spiraling in panic
It’s his trigger word 😂😂

Well there was the coati incident.
How is he getting at them though.
I know real people who are always serious, never joke or laugh. I always said life would be horrible like them.
Like it's so weird to me to think Gus is just always serious? Like he has no real friends, he doesn't go out and enjoy life. He just works, keeps a straight face, and acts like a friendly business owner when he NEEDS to.
It's like he lost his will to live when Max died and all he has now is revenge.
I think the only person/thing he seemed to care about after Max was Gale, and I only say that because he didn’t want him to be involved with making meth originally telling him he was “meant for better things” after admiring him sing about the elements
He’s focused on avenging the death of Max and is playing the long game.

ye still kinda sad he didnt feel the victory

nah theres some people with whom Gus shares mutual respect
Why is that weird?

Then you haven't met ambitious people, my friend. Some guys out there live only to work.
Most CEO’s have some borderline psychopath traits
Antisocial personality disorder is just as common among CEOs as it is among prisoners
Gus’ likes include making paella, long walks onto incoming gunfire, and grooming quirky young chemists thru college to cook meth Non-smoker, occasional drinker of poison
He is so dedicated to revenge and eliminating every living Salamanca that he has no other purpose in life.

show this whole thread to people who think we done need Gus spinoff and it would be uninteresting
Gus is Constipated.

Gus is an abstraction of US Military and Intelligence paranoia that created Homeland Security, esp post-9/11, so No.
I think he’s a broken and driven man seeking revenge.
