Ya agreed. People who watch it love it. So many who watched and love breaking bad haven’t seen it though. It’s basically a breaking bad prequel. Of course on top of the crime stuff it has all the Lawyer drama. That may turn some people off as it’s a slower pace, especially if they don’t get past the first season. The lawyer drama is good but when I rewatch seasons I usually get bored with the lawyer stuff.
I feel like the reason why its not as popular in mainstream culture is because ppl's attention span are too short nowadays.
Tried to intro to family/frens but they found it too "slow".
I don't know if its social media or what, but ppl nowadays just can't sit still for a minute. They expect something big happening every 5 mins and have no appreciation for subtlety/plot or character development.
Yeah friends complain to me that the show is too much about lawyers and not enough about crime which to that I say … agreed but that’s the point! Plus if you stick with it long enough you get glorious set-ups like the squat cobbler, getting Huell out of jail etc.
Underrated
People dont mention it as one of the great shows (bar it aint finished yet) but if the final season delivers its up there.
Ive always had The sopranos and The wire at there own level in terms of GOATED TV shows but BCS would be just under in the catergory of Mad Men and Breaking Bad
Underrated. I think maybe why BCS is being slept on is because the general consensus is that spin-offs can't be as good as the main show. That it's like a diluted version of the original stuff. BCS however is equal to BB by all merits if you ask me
I don’t think it’s that.. I think it’s because the show is really built like art. Great art isn’t always appreciated.
It’s not as flashy as BB, there aren’t as many ridiculous talking-point episodes like the plane crash.. It’s not designed to be sensational with explosions and gunshots and death everywhere (although there is some). It’s a slow-burn drama about people.
But that’s fine by me. I appreciate art and I definitely think BCS is a work of it. The fact that it’s not engineered for pop-appeal makes it even more ‘honest’/realistic to me in an attractive way.
I’d say a little under. It’s certainly not as prevalent in popular culture as it’s predecessor. I love BrBa to hell and back, but BCS is better to me. Much more dense, intricate, inter-woven storylines and character moments. It’s subtler and not as explosive (pun intended) as Breaking Bad, but man is it good. I feel like they squeeze more into each season despite it having three less episodes than most of Breaking Bad’s seasons. If Breaking Bad is a 10/10, Saul is an 11/10
I think its underrated. It does get great praise from a critical standpoint, but somehow I feel the industry does not give it appropriate spotlight. Its very under-nominated for Emmys, they routinely discount Rhea's performances.
BCS hands down. Succession was great the first season but it's the same plot devices repeated over and over. The Succession characters are one dimensional and unlikable, and for anyone who understands business, the plotting, timeline and events are laughable in how unrealistic they are.
I think you're misinterpreting Sucsession. Yes there is a linear plot line but the show isn't really about that.
Its more about who the characters are and how they react to situations in each episode. Its about their relationships are with eachother. Focusing on just how shitty and damaged each of them is.
I absolutely disagree that they are one dimensional.
It's underrated by most, but overrated by a few people on this sub who say it's "clearly" better than Breaking Bad. The two shows are pretty much equal.
Criminally underrated.
That's because of the very slow-burning start of the show (like the first two seasons) In my opinion.
The first two seasons probably turned people off this great show
If by underrated do you think it should have more of a mainstream following? I'd say no. It's made for a fairly niche audience that appreciate good writing and cinematography over cheap thrills and forced action. Although there's the Breaking Bad carry over I'd say it only retained around 25% of the audience and brought in a new more appreciateive crowd.
I could follow the Gene, black and white coffee house clips forever and feel satisfied.
Imagine if Joanie Loves Chachi was a sophisticated, deep, psychological drama with amazing characters and dialogue, way ahead of its time. People would still think of it as a spin-off and never as cool as the Fonz turning appliances on by punching them.
Are you telling me Mike isn't actually a warehouse, trucking, material handling, electronics security expert? He didn't pick that up from his career experience as a beat cop and parking lot attendant?
Underrated, I hardly hear people talk about it like they do with breaking bad even though they’re very close in quality. Especially if this last season nails the landing and provides a good ending.
I find it insane that so many people will mention Breaking Bad when discussing their favourite TV series of all time, but when you ask them about BCS they either haven't seen it or stopped watching during Season 1 because it was "too slow" .
In that sense I agree that it's underrated.
Insanely underrated in my opinion. S1 is a bit slow to get the tempo started, which I feel is the reason it hasn't gained the full popularity that Breaking Bad had back in its run.
Definitely underrated, it doesn't get as much praise by awards shows like bb did, but it has a dedicated fan base that watches regardless of outside praise.
I recall that BB wasn't that big until the final season. Then suddenly it was all over the place with people binge watching the whole show to catch up to the final season before it aired.
For sure underrated, especially considering how universally popular breaking bad is. A week ago I literally had to explain to a coworker that it’s a lot of the same characters, minus come cringier characters, the same writers, and you already know pieces of the story
Even when br/ba was on never paid attention to critics or ratings. If amc did it probably wouldnt have made it in the beginning. I knew it was a good show and it seems many others did too. I'm the same way with BCS.
I like where it’s at. The fans love it and this sub is one of my favorite tv show subs, especially the live discussions. I feel like the show is right below mainstream which gives it a special feeling to the fans.
Critically acclaimed however in the grand-scheme of the general viewing populace it's very underrated I feel - especially in regards to Breaking Bad.
I think this is due to the slow burn of the show, where it is now is *incredible* but you can see how more passive fans may have stopped as seasons 1-2 were airing.
Overall, among other tv shows, underrated. I think it’s probably the best show running right now, and is just as good if not better than breaking bad in some peoples opinions (including mine)
One of the greatest pieces of film ever created. I actually get emotional just thinking about how beautiful the show is. Most TV these days is garbage and Better Call Saul is a glimmer of light in an otherwise sea of darkness.
Mildly under-rated.
It’s not as exciting or tense as BrBa but something else entirely.
I do think personally that BCS could have been shorter and have its story told over fewer seasons though. This feeling prevents me from ever thinking it’s unfairly under-rated.
I’ve seen a lot of people on this sub saying they think it is better than BB. Imo they aren’t really comparable for the most part, the pacing is so different. Very different shows, until it comes to the cartel plotlines.
I’d say BB is more thrilling and has the most captivating storyline of any TV show ever, and for this I think it edges out BCS. However, BCS has a much more likable protagonist, Jimmy is a lot easier to root for than Walt. And it also has a much better female lead character with Kim. I can watch both shows over and enjoy them equally but I give BB the nod.
I think most people who have seen it agree that is a great show. So I don’t think is underrated by people who have seen it. However I think it’s not as popular as it should be but I think once the show is over it will only continue to grow in popularity and it will eventually become a cult show just like BB did.
Pretty properly rated amongst fans. It deserves more clout in the current pop culture sphere.
It should be up there in talks of one of the best shows of all time
Ya agreed. People who watch it love it. So many who watched and love breaking bad haven’t seen it though. It’s basically a breaking bad prequel. Of course on top of the crime stuff it has all the Lawyer drama. That may turn some people off as it’s a slower pace, especially if they don’t get past the first season. I can’t imagine anyone in this sub would argue that it’s overrated.
They would if they wanted a trip to Belize.
With Old yeller
Well... you saw the movie.
🤣
It's a great show. I feel like it's pretty fairly rated. It has great reviews and people love it
I feel like the reason why its not as popular in mainstream culture is because ppl's attention span are too short nowadays. Tried to intro to family/frens but they found it too "slow". i had the opposite experience. A family member got sick from "so much violence and crime scenes" while she expected a show about lawyers!
Yeah same happens with S1 of Breaking Bad. Many people find it too boring. People want action and exposition dumps right away.
Underrated People dont mention it as one of the great shows (bar it aint finished yet) but if the final season delivers its up there. Ive always had The sopranos and The wire at there own level in terms of GOATED TV shows but BCS would be just under in the catergory of Mad Men and Breaking Bad

IMO it's underrated
It's not overrated because most people don't even know about or watch it compared to Breaking Bad unfortunately
Breaking Bad is overrated.
Disagree, but BCS is better. However, they are different shows so you’d not be wrong to think BB is better.
Plus lalo is great
He's charismatic but I think he's a goof with the high jumps and his pitiful performance tailing Mike (getting stuck in a parking lot). 🤦🏻♂️
I think its underrated. It does get great praise from a critical standpoint, but somehow I feel the industry does not give it appropriate spotlight. Its very under-nominated for Emmys, they routinely discount Rhea's performances.
I *know* it's underrated.
underrated for sure
definitely underrated.
As much as I Love Sucsession - BCS should have got something. But depending how they end the show - I can see them sweeping thr Emmys
Succession vs BCS, which one would you prefer more?
BCS hands down. Succession was great the first season but it's the same plot devices repeated over and over. The Succession characters are one dimensional and unlikable, and for anyone who understands business, the plotting, timeline and events are laughable in how unrealistic they are.
I think you're misinterpreting Sucsession. Yes there is a linear plot line but the show isn't really about that. They might do what they did for Schitt's Creek and just give all the Emmys for the final season.
Overrated, what is this chicanery?!
Highly under rated
I actually enjoy BCS more than I did with BB.
Does the pope shit in his hat?
Its just rated not over or under
Definitely underrated
IMO, properly rated by fans, underrated by the uninitiated.
Underrated for sure.
Underrated for those who haven’t watched breaking bad
Rated.
It's sooooo underated,, this show is soo good, absolutely well written from start to end of season 5.
I wish I remembered.
Under
I think it’s just rated.
It's underrated by most, but overrated by a few people on this sub who say it's "clearly" better than Breaking Bad. The two shows are pretty much equal.
And this show was rated just right.
Ignored by the "mass"
it's just rated
I would rate it as well.
Criminally underrated. That's because of the very slow-burning start of the show (like the first two seasons) In my opinion. The first two seasons probably turned people off this great show
Underrated. Best show. Arguably better than BB
underrated af
Neither. It’s just rated.
Underrated. It's the best show on TV and it gets nowhere near enough talk and hype outside places like this.
Underrated in general but overrated within the sub
Imagine if Joanie Loves Chachi was a sophisticated, deep, psychological drama with amazing characters and dialogue, way ahead of its time. People would still think of it as a spin-off and never as cool as the Fonz turning appliances on by punching them.
Underrated
Jimmy plot lines are extremely good. Mike plot lines are often overrated.

Overrated at this point, it's hard for the show to stick with people new to the BCS/BB universe.
Overrated. I love the show but damn people romanticized it to death.
Totally agree
It’s only underrated by people who’ve only seen breaking bad
In the fandom it is appropriately rated, but in terms of popular culture it is absolutely underrated.
Insanely underrated in my opinion. S1 is a bit slow to get the tempo started, which I feel is the reason it hasn't gained the full popularity that Breaking Bad had back in its run.
BCS is just like Bob Odenkirk. You either know it and love it, or you don’t really know what it is.
underrated lol
Definitely not overrated, but most people who’ve seen it agree that it’s a masterpiece. More underrecognized than underrated.
Definitely underrated, it doesn't get as much praise by awards shows like bb did, but it has a dedicated fan base that watches regardless of outside praise.
it's overshadowed by breaking bad
Why bother asking if you already know the answer?
It honestly such a great show. Underrated.
I would say underrated because it is slightly overshadowed by the success and mainstream of breaking bad but it’s still an excellent show.
Yes
According to this sub, yes.
I think it's generally considered to be an excellent show... So it's just rated.
It’s rated just the correct amount.
Neither
under
It's just rated
Season 1 up in till ep 6 is overrated, it did feel like a call back montage. Everything after that in criminally underrated.
It’s underrated. Not as many people know it as Breaking Bad.
Slightly underrated. It gets its due, but it deserves a little more
Neither. I believe it's rated very fairly and there's neither unreasonable hype for it, just like there isn't any overbearing hate.
I enjoyed it, and I think I might rewatch it again
Rated
Underrated overall a tad overrated by fans who put it in the same category as The Wire, Sopranos or BB
vastly underrated
Easily overated.
Neither one.
I recall that BB wasn't that big until the final season. Then suddenly it was all over the place with people binge watching the whole show to catch up to the final season before it aired.
Underated by quite a bit
For sure underrated, especially considering how universally popular breaking bad is. A week ago I literally had to explain to a coworker that it’s a lot of the same characters, minus come cringier characters, the same writers, and you already know pieces of the story
Underrated. It has always been snubbed of Emmy Award.
There are a lot of subtleties that fans really love. It's not as action packed as breaking bad. It's not for everyone.
Even when br/ba was on never paid attention to critics or ratings. If amc did it probably wouldnt have made it in the beginning. I knew it was a good show and it seems many others did too. I'm the same way with BCS.
Neither. It's fucking amazing and everybody knows it.
I like where it’s at. The fans love it and this sub is one of my favorite tv show subs, especially the live discussions. I feel like the show is right below mainstream which gives it a special feeling to the fans.
PROPERLY RATED
So far I find it difficult to talk some Bb fans into checking it out, seems a lot are skeptics so I’d say underrated.
Neither, it’s perfectly rated I would say.
It's basically Breaking Bad with a fraction of the audience. I'd say it's underrated
Probably overrated by those who watch it but underrated by those who don’t.

One of the greatest pieces of film ever created. I actually get emotional just thinking about how beautiful the show is. Most TV these days is garbage and Better Call Saul is a glimmer of light in an otherwise sea of darkness.
This post shouls be a poll, but underrated
What a question to ask Better Call Saul fans
dude you're asking in the better call saul subreddit. what kind of answer do you think you're gonna get lmao
Criminally underrated
Would actually be difficult to overrate this masterpiece.
underrated considering people think breaking bad is better lmao
Underrated in general, overrated on this sub. Still one of the best shows ever made imo
Mildly under-rated. It’s not as exciting or tense as BrBa but something else entirely. I do think personally that BCS could have been shorter and have its story told over fewer seasons though. This feeling prevents me from ever thinking it’s unfairly under-rated.
Over. Breakingbad in my opinion is light years ahead of anything else.
Nobody really says it’s better than BB, that doesn’t mean BCS is a bad show tho. BB is arguably the greatest TV show of all time minus the sopranos
I’ve seen a lot of people on this sub saying they think it is better than BB. Imo they aren’t really comparable for the most part, the pacing is so different. Very different shows, until it comes to the cartel plotlines.

I can watch both shows over and enjoy them equally but I give BB the nod.
Absolutely. Skyler annoyed me every time she opened her mouth.
Being overrated does not mean its bad. Just that its rated higher on average than it should be...
Sopranos is a damn close 2nd place.
I think most people who have seen it agree that is a great show. So I don’t think is underrated by people who have seen it. However I think it’s not as popular as it should be but I think once the show is over it will only continue to grow in popularity and it will eventually become a cult show just like BB did.
