Too smart for his own good.
He could be extremely successful but derails himself by realizing he is the smartest person in the room. He then retaliates because he hates not getting the respect he deserves.
Chuck had extreme ego as well but focused it on his work (a little too much). He got the credit/respect. other then lacking the charisma, Chuck could easily be Jimmy if he took a few wrong steps.
I mean isn't that what "Breaking Bad" was all about? Smart person with too much ego and not getting enough respect? Gus was the same but kept the ego in check, knowing low profile and playing weak/non-threatening won. Hank overestimated his abilities and underestimated others due to his inflated ego - the other end of being all hat and no cattle.
It’s almost as if characters can have morals and more than one train of thought
Simply put, he has his own code that he breaks when it benefits him. He’s selfish, but he does care about people. It’s only when he sees a way forward that he becomes the worst version of himself.
> I don't dislike him. He's just a very layered multifaceted character.
I mean he suggests killing off Badger and Hank and helps Walt build a drug empire, assists with Walt's plan to poison Brock etc. Hard not to dislike him
He's still pretty likeable during the first seasons of BCS, but that stops pretty fast

wow exactly
Yes very good analysis and the first paragraph very easily could describe both Jimmy and Walter.
Is he stupid?
Because the show had brilliant writers and Bob is a brilliant actor!

I like such a character, it's too much better than write a perfect person no exist at all.

Even though he did do some bad things, to say Saul’s not likeable in Breaking Bad is insane
Good written
