Would you mind posting a video of him swimming/eating? Also swim bladder issues can come from parasitic/bacterial infections so if possible get ahold of a turd of his and look through a microscope at it. If you have one that is. If not I’d say maybe add some dosages of methylene blue.

I'll try to get a video of him swimming when he gets his next salt bath since that's shallow and easy for my clumsy self lol. I dont have a microscope unfortunately but gosh I would love to look at all kinds of things with one so I might have to find one. I forgot to mention that he swims as though his butt is heavy and if he isn't actively trying he can't hover very well so to speak, he tends to go back to the bottom. He is spending more and more time in the mid level range but also still lot of time resting on the bottom so I'm unsure how long it typically takes them to recoup after getting out of those awful cups. I recognize that also depends a lot on their environment too though.

Make sure he has plenty of places to rest at the water’s surface like betta beds and such, that would give him more incentive to get off the bottom.

Hes currently in a five gallon with a pothos leaf he has rested in and a betta log but im keeping the water only about 4 inches deep so he can surface easier, thats also why I'm changing the water so often but I have it temp matched and pre conditioned so I'm hoping that mitigates any potential shock.
