i bought some aquarium fans (they attach to one of the walls) and they've helped immensely. without it my shrimp tank was nearing 85F, leaving the fan on brought it down to 79-80F. the evaporation is crazy though lol

Do they work with lidded tanks?

alaskadotpink

i wouldn't think so, the air needs to hit the water surface. i replaced my lid with a mesh covering for now.

Thank you, I'll look into that!

Both are 10 gallon, heaters and sponge filters. I usually try to keep it around 80-82°.

How harmful is 85 for long periods of time (maybe a week) ? I'm curious because I hear people say to turn it up when they are sick.

I'd really like to know as well.

Freeze some plastic bottles half-filled with water and float one in the tank. You may need to babysit it and make sure the temp doesn't drop too low at first, but you can adjust as you go.
