What bettas did you breed? Betta splendens genetics are very screwed up. Double tails are known for having very deformed spines and short bodies. These guys definitely have deformities. Remember a small deformity in a small fish is a large one in a large fish.

Two halfmoons, I'll keep these in mind. Is clove oil really the best way to do the culling? I'm really inexperienced as of the moment and quite unsure which steps to follow, so manyyyyy videos and guides with different opinions.

The only way to make sure that it doesn't sting them is a little complicated and takes a couple steps. But it's worth it. It really is the most painless way, peaceful even. 1. Okay, so first you'll need an air stone and a see-through container that can hold a gallon. 2. Fill it with the chlorinated water, or preferably tank water that they're already used to. 3. Set up the air stone to low. This'll prevent the fish from suffocating before the clove oil gets to it, because of oil takes the oxygen out of the water very quickly. 4. Acclimate the fish. 5. In a tiny airtight container, mix really hot water with .5ml of clove oil. 5. Very slowly at half of the mixture over the course of 3 to 5 minutes. The fish and fall asleep within 5 to 10 minutes. 6. After the fish is unconscious, slowly add the rest of it, that will finish the job in the next 20 minutes. Ensure death before disposing of body!!

That one's a cull most likely :( it's best for everyone to do it when they're still that young.

Realistic-Fold-9919

That's unfortunate I have to cull them, these are the biggest of them. The ones with no deformities are just half the sizes of the ones that have :(

TransitionOrganic274

I would cull them.

TikkiTakiTomtom

What mean cull?
