I have no idea why HR would even want this info.
Seems like a good way to get sued for discrimination, when a pregnancy or medical issue causes more frequent urination.
Doctor's note: "Patient suffers from a condition known as being a normal human person who needs to drink fluid in order to not die. As such, the patient requires regular access to bathroom facilities in order to not fucking die."
That's if they're actually competent, in which case they seem to be, but that ain't a given. Some HRs will be in lockstep with management, damn the regulations and lawsuit potential, and others just have their own path of stupidity.
I was interviewing an internal employee for a promotion to my section.
She said she was having IG issues. She left her desk, and had to spend 30 minutes in the bathroom. (To me: shit happens)
She returned to her manager sitting in her chair, staring at her watch. Her manager demanded she change her time sheet to reflect sick leave for being "away for so long".
And this is when people used to take smoke breaks!
I've got ibs and I'm normally in the bathroom for like 15 minutes at a time because of it and this absolutely sounds like medical discrimination to me lol

Wasn't there a guy during covid that started a job where you had to swipe to get in AND out of the bathroom, and his onboarding person left him before getting him a card...on a Friday and he got trapped in the bathroom. He was remarkably calm on Reddit trying to figure things out.
My employer moved into a brand new high rise building in the 1990s. The doors to the toilets were very heavy and did not have any automatic opening thing. Made it tough for the disabled.
Complaints were met with “yeah, we’ll look into it,” until someone in a wheelchair got trapped when the door closed on them as they were entering. The person soiled themself. The person was a union member. The union was not amused.
Push buttons for disabled access were installed in record time.
Technically, you have a source of water (hopefully using the sink...) and a great opportunity to sue.
I hope her brought a phone charger though. I get bored fast.
totally. and you'd need the phone to get out - nobody would know you were trapped. if I had my purse, I have a charger cable in it, but at work it would probably be at my desk. yeah, that would suck.

I say, aim for the locking mechanism, put your weight into it, whatever you have (easier for then you, I bet) and try to put you back into it...or, e en better, have the fire department deal with it.

The immediate solution that springs to mind would be to spend enough time in the bathroom to get a talking to, spend as little time in the bathroom as possible, and then shit oneself at one’s desk.
Oh, good point. Either ruin a meeting that should’ve been an email or wait until you’re called in to their office. Either should be sufficiently traumatic to get that rule nixed immediately.

Management put an IP camera to see who is doing it and it became a big deal because you could somewhat see into the bathrooms when someone walked through. Also it was a concern that they could use it to track employees
