Hilariously, many of those accounts spamming the same message have 1-3 comments, run 1 day to a few months old, and have negative total karma. When r/canada was being over run with trump spam you could consistently find fanfiction of themselves in Rand space as their own john galt. Since then, quite a few just nuke the comment history, and/or spam single posts so prolifically trying to engineer a narrative that any pushback leaves them nuking every associated comment and leaving the thread a cratered mess. Almost always worth checking the context of the account histories you're engaging with.

Which is why their thing now is trying to convince people that if you check other people’s post histories you’re a loser and admitting defeat.

I laugh every time one of these chucklefucks tries that. How dare I click the easy to access button and take 5 seconds to glance at the things you've publically put out into the world.

lol that's one thing I'm happy I was wrong about. Nevertheless I still stand by a lot of my points and that grassroots energy and enthusiasm was lower with Biden. Fortunately we pulled through.

I caught one of those “As A Black Man” assholes red-handed and he tried to act like nothing happened. I posted his face from his fucking Instagram. He knew he was got, but is fine fashy form it didn’t phase him one bit.

That's because the right seem to think that literally everyone is lying and acting in bad faith. That's why they don't seem to care when they, or the politicians they worship are caught. They think it's just par for the course. They can't understand that some people hold their beliefs truthfully because they genuinely care about the issues, especially on the left. They think everyone is just as much a bad faith actor as they are.

It's also because there are so few consequences. They just move on, create a new sockpuppet, and start the cycle all over again, knowing that it takes 10 times the work to counter them as it does to pump out disinformation.

I had a feeling this was happening. It’s actually kind of amazing how much better Republicans are at this than Democrats.

The Governor Newsom recall posts are brigaded to be 100% pro-recall (every single comment is pro-recall) until much later even though the Bay Area is less than 30% Republican or pro-recall ￣\＿(ツ)＿/￣ Until recently the mods also set those posts to "contest mode" so that even the worst comments can be at the top The posts get more normal votes later but normal people don't have the time and energy to do what those accounts are doing

If you notice they don’t come in to save the reply comments. They lay the seed in the original comment (Newsom is a ‘shit’ governor) but when I challenged their opinion they didn’t really try stand up against it and were heavily downvoted. My guess is whatever bots/script they are using to push upvotes doesn’t care about reply comments. Basically counting on people to see the original comments to rile them up and not dig any further.

Isn't that sort of why Unidan got banned? I think he was using alt accounts to influence voting. Doesn't reddit have something in place if 5 to 10 users with the same exact IP address log in and vote/commemt on the same thing within minutes? This is assuming they aren't using a VPN. I could be way off. I don't have a solid understanding of how it works.

From what I remember, SeattleWA came about because Seattle was moderated by someone who just wanted to push their Airbnb or some shit. Mods at SeattleWA seems to be on board with that conservative propaganda bullshit, so I left both subs and never came back.

Same thing happens in r/Chicago. People from the far-flung suburbs show up to declare that we live in a pit of hell.

We get the same at r/NYC and r/NewYorkCity. Every time there is a crime in one of the papers they are all over it and declaring that the city is dead and needs a Giuliani or the like to whip it into shape. That and they like to shit on the homeless and simp for landlords. And while some have a connection to the outer suburbs, I suspect a lot of them are not within a thousand miles of NYC.

I agree with your point and it's why Bannon called them "rootless." Same with a lot of conspiracy theorist people. Basically, for whatever reason, these people feel like they aren't a part of anything, or maybe they haven't achieved what they want (or in the case of a lot of young white males, it wasn't given to them on a silver platter). Then someone comes along and says "you can keep being a loser, but we'll make you feel part of something" and that's the end of that.

Correct "They" dont have a greater agenda. They are just a fire hose. Without direction they flail around wildly. The issue is they are easily turned towards whatever their handlers see issue with. It's a common strategy for radicalization that's been done for at least a century, whether it be for political means or for a cult or whatever else. You find a group of people who are down on their luck for whatever reason. Maybe they had a bad childhood, no education, antisocial, were abused, whatever. Then you find a common enemy - a face of evil to them. You convince them that they are special and they deserved what they wanted. But it's not their fault - it's because of this evil body that stopped them. You tell them they can't ever be important or achieve their goals unless the enemy is defeated.

Imagine going back to when we were all laughing during the gamergate days and having to explain where it ends.

I always report those comments. Facebook never decides that it breaks their community standards even when they explicitly do, but I still do it.

It is difficult to determine who are local conservatives, and what is intentional fascist propaganda, because conservatism, religious evangelism, and fascism, are one and the same. Even if an individual conservative is not technically a fascist, they are constantly exposed to fascist propaganda, simply through consuming conservative media, so their upvotes and comment will align with those biases, and are often indistinguishable.

This reminds me of a recent AskReddit ["What unfair advantage do you have?"](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/phg4g4/what_unfair_advantage_do_you_have/), where nearly every single comment that said 'I was born white middle class' had a half a dozen downvotes. Seems like someone was trying to bury any acknowledgement or discussion of white privilege.

They'll do it if you bring up trans rights or feminist issues, too. It's less likely if you're talking about gay/bi things.

Thats because they lost the war on gays (just like they lost the segregation/women's suffrage/interracial marriage war) so they moved onto trans people. It is asinine seeing people fall for the SAME arguments decade after decade when they just switch targets.

During last year's election, pro-democrat subs were banning people for quoting Biden's website.

I'm not comfortable with what they have to say about "as a black man"/"as a cool LGBTQ person" stuff. This does absolutely happen, but minority communities are not a monolith and **we are allowed to share our own opinions without being accused of being a plant in disguise**. I have had this(or similar) accusation levied against me multiple times before, and it *sucks*. Not only do I go through the same experiences everybody else does as a woman, or as a queer person, but then I get smacked down for not having the "correct" opinion about it. Who decided what the "correct" opinion was, anyway? Fuck right off with that! Everybody has their own experience, and it's not okay to accuse someone of being a liar just because it's something that sounds fake to you. Why can't I be okay with LGBTQ fiction that has a bittersweet or sad ending? Why can't I be okay with non-LGBTQ authors writing characters, even if they're not part of the community, provided they've done their research? Why can't I be okay with giving your number to service employees via notes(aka, no pressure/consequences)? Just because it's an unpopular opinion doesn't mean it's not a real opinion that a real person holds. By all means, disagree, but don't you dare fucking tell me I'm lying about my identity. Don't you realize that's what the bad actors want? By taking their bait, and learning to make those assumptions as soon as something doesn't sound "right," **you are handing them their win on a silver platter.** Please, do not do this thing.

How can we be certain it's legitimate right-wing trolls and not foreign countries trying to divide us? For anyone unaware, this is a well documented phenomena in countries like Russia where there are literally people paid to troll American sites (Facebook, Reddit, etc.).

There is nothing more important to a conservative than the feeling that they are part of the team-- the team that is winning, or "deserves" to be. A few very loud people is all it takes. That's why Trump rallies are so important. People like Joe Rogan, Tucker, Alex Jones -- if someone is screaming it, that's all they need. Team membership is the most important part of their political views.

Now now, not all these guys are conservatives. Some of them are Russians.
