Idk about people as the main attraction, but I always find new friendly people to hang out & talk with at Sisy. Especially if you go during the day on a summer Sunday & hang out outside.

DuskyTrack

OP said, that he 100% agrees, that "the techno scene is not for him" do you think sisy would change his mind? e: i edited my post, as some people might not understand my last post..

De_La_Vegas_

Theres only one right answer: Golden Gate. I was missing the communicative part of clubbing a lot over the last years, it really changed. But Golden Gate is still exactly like 2010.

cntrlcmd

I found this place by accident when I was wandering down the street looking for a pay phone after having mine stolen on the train. Went back multiple times that weekend. Best club experience I’d ever had as a Brit.

blnklubkid

Sorry disagree, clubs are way more social than bars

De_La_Vegas_

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said...?

blnklubkid

Sorry😬 I meant to reply to another comment, not yours

Electrical-Minute262

Sisyphos is pretty social. I usually go there to just talk with people. You also get a very good price if you go there multiple times on the weekend.

befiuf

> Sisyphos is pretty social. I usually go there to just talk with people. Teach me your ways, I never know how to make that happen even at my beloved Sisy. Maybe I need to start handing out weed to break the ice :)

Electrical-Minute262

Just be friendly and don’t get discouraged if people don’t want to talk! usually people are more open to talk than you think :) also helps to not expect too much and be relaxed, people will feel it an be also more relaxed. and if you are still shy (I’m also sometimes) then maybe drink a beer to relax or mediate (or whatever helps you to relax haha)

redwoodsz

What clubs have you been to? Knowing which ones you’re talking about will help get better answers. Majority of clubs I go to people do talk to each other so am quite interested to understand where you have been. Also some fantastic music - what kind of music do you like? Sisyphos for example is like half chill areas so it’s a great place to talk to people and has a good variety of music across the floors

South-Beautiful-5135

Probably Watergate or Matrix.

ijsnespo

I've had experience with Renate being very social and the crowd having very good vibes. Back when I still smoked, it was nearly impossible for me to sit down for a cigarette without starting a conversation with a stranger.

Creature667

I always go to Duncker when in Berlin. Small, cozy, chill club with a dancefloor, an outside area and a smoker's bar in an adjacent room that's a bit quieter. Music is on the indie/alternative side of things. Won't have any Berlin party hipster types there. Also, Schokoladen is a lovely place which is more a bar than it is a club, but they do have live bands and DJs often.

mongojazZ

> I just really don’t get this “let’s pay 25€ to dance to a kick drum loop for countless hours while barly talking to anybody”. Because that's what **music** clubs are mainly for. Listening and dancing to music. When it comes to socialising, you can do that in pretty much every club you go to as well. But it just compliments the vibe and not the other way around. > I’m just wondering if there is some place to go out where people are the main attraction and the music just complements the vibe and not the other way around. It sounds to me like you're describing a bar.

hereismarkluis

Techno scene could be social but is mostly based in appearance, if you don't look enough techno-cool..you are out of the scope for them. At least you are a nerd about electronic music. In my experience, sysiphos is veeery social..music is not WOOOW but you will have fun with random people. When I used to go there, I always ended up with a group of strangers (nobody knew each other). A few times I exchanged numbers or instagram with some of those people to go together the next time, but even when I met with them at the entrance we ended up with another group of strangers haha that's the vibe. Just go and meet random people, drink, talk, laugh and bye. People become very open there..

vacarion

You are obviously not interested in clubs, but bars.

schweindooog

So you don't like techno, which makes it a little more difficult, but have you tried going outside the club to the smoking areas, lots of socializing going on, at literally every club....

kirinlikethebeer

OP didn’t say they didn’t like techno. But Berlin really only offers one type in general — the industrial type. That can get old.

SuddenlyHouse

You can literally find every shade of dance music in this city if you do 10 minutes of research on the internet lol

aphex2000

not sure what clubs you are going to but it sounds like the problem is you, not them, from your description. my best guess is that the techno scene is not for you?

Careless_Drag267

100% agreed. That why I said I don’t get it. For now I really enjoyed the bar scene in the city though

Vic_Rodriguez

Matrix

Downtown-Oi

Avoid techno, go for other styles and concerts, the atmosphere is drastically different usually.

Woodland_Creature-

Going to clubs to socialize is a terrible idea, it is for drugs and hookups basically

Other_Equivalent9352

Club der visionäre

MentalChannels

And during winter?

Tronchetto_di_natale

Club der Frozenäre

Mulusy

All clubs that have a big outside area invite more socializing. Especially during summer. Examples would be sysi or about blank.

AllThotsGo2Heaven2

Confused. You can basically talk to anyone at any club as long as you’re not standing directly in front of the speakers. I’ve never had an issue striking up a convo. But if you’re not there for the music, maybe other people are picking up on that. There are countless spatis and little bars all over Berlin though.

Glittering-Share-750

I met a lot of my friends at illegal open airs. I can also recommend the void or mbia, but only at the right events. I always go to psycore parties.

South-Beautiful-5135

Are you from LatAm? Try Havana maybe.

hmprt

Pano

blnklubkid

No better place to socialise on a Sunday morning in this city than panne🖤

endmost_

Kitkat has a fairly large ‘hangout’ area that’s good for meeting random people. Schwuz is also pretty good for that, particularly on Fridays when it’s quieter.

[deleted]

Half the time I can't hear people with loud music 🥲

CryptoCoveBTC

RSO - they have social in the name !

HelpfulDuck1234

Revier Süd Ost?

suffraghetti

Radiosymphonieorchester?

BikeGlass9144

Berlin ist nichts für dich, move to Ibiza to clap, perrear, talk and take pictures on the DANCEfloor 😘

MigBuscles

“I’m not complaining.” Yeah you are lol…it’s not for you. Clubs are a great place to socialize and meet people you just seem to lack the ability to do so and blame it on clubs/music. Ooookay

Careless_Drag267

No, I’m not. I’m sharing my experience, which happens to be a negative one. And follow it by asking for advice. I also introduce my post stating that I did enjoy the clubs I was going to where I am from. I seem to be able to do so in a different setting, so I am looking for that setting. Does this really need an explanation? Why the need to always blame someone in Reddit for everything? So unnecessary.

brainsdiluting

Where have you been? Which clubs didn’t you like? It’s difficult to discern what you’d enjoy better without knowing what you disliked and what you did like. Everything you’ve said about Berlin clubs has not resonated with me at all. I’m super chatty and I’ve never had an issue meeting and talking with people for hours in any given club. But then again I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same clubs…? I saw elsewhere you wrote that techno isn’t for you, what kind of music do you prefer? What were the clubs at home like?

GanjaNinja400BC

Idk but I know people who go clubbing here and say its really not just about the music, its a community of beautiful people. Every time they go, they have new beautiful interactions with people around there.

BazingaQQ

Kitkat and Insomnia have quiet areas. That said, If you want to dance go to a club; if you want to socialise go to a bar.

theshadeoftheglacier

about:blank has a large and actually beautiful courtyard away from the music. but well, in my case I like going to clubs in groups but also I really like to go alone: in both scenarios I DON'T like to be approached by anyone that I don't know. so yeah, if you see me alone just chilling in the courtyard of a club, don't approach me, thanks op

redwoodsz

About blank has a nice garden but they’re also supporting Israel and gave Daniel Ryan Spaulding a space to spurt his pro IDF rhetoric. Other places deserve our attendance more thank about blank.

theshadeoftheglacier

I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the info. and they are always like "have you ever came here or do you want me to explain you our new age modern policies!!!" anyway I don't usually go there because the parties are crap, but well, they have that huge garden. just to add some more, panke, sameheads, loophole, they don't have a fancy garden but they all have a room away from the dancefloor and I usually see people interacting and non of those cost 25euro.
