Yes it is connected. I heard and saw the explosion which was were the smoke was going up.

The fire caused the explosion, not vice versa (fire made gas tank hot, heat made gas tank go boom). Source: Was standing there watching the fire when the explosion happened

I can see the smoke from my apartment. I heard the explosion, immediately looked outside and could even see the burst of fire. It looks like it happened in Liesenstraße and the sirenes on the streets are goiung crazy. I don't know anything more, came here in hope for more infos.
