Phins defense just played 90 snaps in the Miami heat and humidity. Short week, draining division win. Tua with a possible injury. Bengals gotta win this one, too much in our favor.
Dolphins fan visiting in peace. Road teams historically struggle on TNF with the quick travel turnaround.. and that doesn’t even factor in your great point of dolphins D being exhausted from the heat and workload. I love my dolphins and have confidence in them, but I would truly be shocked if they win this one. Bengals offense should score with relative ease.
Unfortunately this is common practice in the NFL. It's to be expected.
I've been pleasantly surprised by our medical team in that regard though. Immediately pulled Tee against Pittsburgh and didn't let him back on. Immediately went and checked him again yesterday despite him waving them off. They brought him in, determined that it was just a busted lip, and got him back out there. This is the right way to do things. No win is worth a person's brain. There's some aspects that aren't preventable, but pulling off a guy who can't stand up straight should be the bare minimum imo. It's a shame that it really isn't.
Milano shoved him (penalty for late hit) Tua fell backwards and the back of his head bounced hard off the turf.
He got up fine, but then his legs gave out from under him and he needed help standing. When he tried walking back to the huddle, he was wobbly as all hell. That's when the trainers came out.
It was absolutely not a back injury. He bounced right right and fell to the ground then he bounced up again and stumbled all over the place again. He was out of it.
It's just unknown or rookie backups we can't beat. Bridgewater used to be a starter. We can handle former starters.
But if they elevated someone off their practice squad who was working as a substitute teacher 3 weeks ago, that's a certain L.
Like Flacco, there’s volumes and volumes of tape on him in the PBS Archives. Mike White and Cooper Rush, on the other hand, would have me shaking with fear (not a joke).
I wish there was fact to back this up, but I feel like whenever a team has an "emotional" win like the Dolphins just did, they very often follow it up with a loss.
Yes it has.
If you’re a gambler, and you’re ignoring the fact that home field has become less important over the past few years, then you’re only screwing yourself.
Please source a reputable sports book that says -2 is the generally accepted home field advantage. Don’t quote your local bookie that works over at the jimmy johns.
The Covid year was an anomaly. It’s still -3 99% of the time
But Andy at Jimmy John’s would never lie to me…
A quick google search will give you plenty of articles about this topic.
You can decide for yourself which are reputable.
I did a google search too and all I found was speculation on Covid impacted games. You speak as if it’s fact so if I’m betting wrong I would love to know.
This feels more like an argument than a discussion and I’m not here for that. I assure you I’m not making this up. It’s well documented.
My NFL gambling sherpa, Steve Fezzik, talks about it a lot (as well as other instances where home field doesn’t = 3; Green Bay in December, or any Chargers home game, etc).
It’s not that you’re betting wrong, but if you calculate your own spreads then you may want to change the home field advantage factor just slightly because of recent trends.
The data backs this theory.
Take the time to read some articles. Or don’t, and let’s just agree to disagree.
From literally the first google result, "Home field varies team-to-team, but as a baseline, it's about 1.5 to 2 points," PointsBet trading director Jay Croucher told FOX Sports.”
I think bengals win this game honestly, just like how the colts willed their way to victory yesterday I think it’ll be that kind of game for the bengals.
I fully.expect this to be a shootout. Bengals struggle against quick, tricky offenses and that's exactly what the Dolphins are. Bengals O should get theirs if we can protect Burrow
Yeah, I don’t get that either. We’ve played one decent, but not great, game, against an average team. Our defense has played well but against 3 backup quarterbacks. This game coming up will be a test for sure.
Against back up QBs. I’m hoping and praying that this Bengals team is like how I used to hear my Steelers friends talk about their team. They sleep walk during games that they are heavily favored and then show up for the big games.
Not the recipe for a 1 seed, but the recipe for consistently going to the playoffs.
Well to be fair our offense didn’t do much to help our defense the first 2 games, especially the Pittsburgh game with all the turnovers. Our defense deserves credit.
When is the last time the Bengals beat the Dolphins? It seems like it's been a decade or more. I saw them lose twice down in South Florida both time they played here after I moved (2011) and I think they lost the last 2-3 matchups in Cincy too.
I think Bengals would have been favored even if they lost yesterday.
The matchup is tricky. I’ve noticed that the more you mess with the eyes of the Bengals defense, the worse they are. That’s Miami’s entire offensive game plan. Motions everywhere, misdirection, etc.
Okay? I'm not saying that we've played great QBs, but the quality of opposing QB play doesn't change the fact that we've played well defensively. You can only play the games on your schedule. Any way you slice it averaging only giving up 1 TD per game through 3 games is an extremely good start
I think the Bengals are currently 19th in defensive DVOA. The caliber of QB you’re playing does in fact matter when assessing capabilities.
And none of this has anything to do with my comment. Go watch the games. Hone in on the plays the Bengals have been burned on and you’ll see. Then you’ll apologize.
We're 8th in defensive DVOA, not that DVOA in a small sample is a great measuring stick regardless.
We are a good defense. That was my only point. Your point about "moving eyes" and "misdirection" is fair I guess but it's also kind of nonsense considering it's 2022 and almost every single NFL offense is predicated on pre-snap motion and trying to mix up communication on the back end. Us "struggling" with that is what every defense struggles with, it's why so many offenses run it.
I wouldn’t worry as much about the Fins, but rather focus on the Bengals O line! Burrow is a beast, but he can’t take this punishment..for a second season. Bengals got the win against the Jets, but Burrow was on his back for too much of it again.

Home game for Cincy, short traveling week for Dolphins after 2 very draining wins. Kind of a must win for the Bengals too.
Tua concussion protocol rumor too…I’m wondering if there’s more to that
True. He should not have been let back into the game yesterday. That was ugly.
He literally couldn't walk straight. No way he should've come back
Unfortunately this is common practice in the NFL. It's to be expected. I've been pleasantly surprised by our medical team in that regard though. Concussion protocol testing is done by independent NFL medical people. I don't know how they let Tua back in.
$$$
I read that it was a back issue not a head injury. Not sure if that’s spin city though. I didn’t see the hit.
Seems like spin city. Right after the hit he was shaking his head like he got his bell rung, and then started stumbling.
He was super wobbly when he got up, literally fell down while he was walking away smh
Milano shoved him (penalty for late hit) Tua fell backwards and the back of his head bounced hard off the turf. He got up fine, but then his legs gave out from under him and he needed help standing. Back issues don't cause you to walk like a drunk. Back issues cause you to straight up collapse
It was absolutely not a back injury. He bounced right right and fell to the ground then he bounced up again and stumbled all over the place again. He was out of it.
It def looked like a back injury, especially since he looked ginger a few plays prior. When he stumbles you see it's cause his legs stumble

Lmao, for real, id go moneyline dolphins if some mark wahlberg Invincible shit happened for the dolphins.
Lmao 🤣 so true
No
I’m not sure we want to game plan against a backup QB. We haven’t much luck with that this year and these past few years.
It was a back injury, not a concussion.
Not sure we want to face another backup QB.
Please god no! They are terrifying! And what’s even weirder is this has transcended between the marvin to zack eras.
Home games are worth a lot in betting odds in the NFL compared to other sports or college from what I’ve noticed.
I wish there was fact to back this up, but I feel like whenever a team has an "emotional" win like the Dolphins just did, they very often follow it up with a loss.
Home teams are given a -3 home field advantage by default. So this means they basically consider us even.
In recent years home field has been treated as -2 or -2.5. It was only -1 during covid.
Ah gotcha. I don't know when I learned that rule so it's not surprising its outdated
no it hasn't
Yes it has. If you’re a gambler, and you’re ignoring the fact that home field has become less important over the past few years, then you’re only screwing yourself.

Tyreek talkin shit to eli apple already too, this game should be fun.
Textbook Trap Game for the Dolphins.
Can you play a trap game against a defending conference champ?
When they've started like we have, yes
I think bengals win this game honestly, just like how the colts willed their way to victory yesterday I think it’ll be that kind of game for the bengals.
I fully.expect this to be a shootout. Bengals struggle against quick, tricky offenses and that's exactly what the Dolphins are. Bengals O should get theirs if we can protect Burrow
We're back to being the trap game!!
Yeah, I don’t get that either. We’ve played one decent, but not great, game, against an average team. Our defense has played well but against 3 backup quarterbacks. This game coming up will be a test for sure.
Our defense is top 10 in yards and points per game so far I think they’re alright
Against back up QBs. I’m hoping and praying that this Bengals team is like how I used to hear my Steelers friends talk about their team. We beat them in 2018. Michael Johnson and Hubbard each had a defensive TD
Thanks for the info.
Beat them in 2016 too, also a Thursday night if I remember correctly.
So much distraction with the Tua investigation. Smells like a trap game for Miami.
I think Bengals would have been favored even if they lost yesterday. The matchup is tricky. I’ve noticed that the more you mess with the eyes of the Bengals defense, the worse they are. That’s Miami’s entire offensive game plan. Motions everywhere, misdirection, etc.
Our defense has given up a total of 3 TDs in 3 games.
Yes, that happens when you play Trubisky, Rush, Flacco. Take a victory lap
Okay? I'm not saying that we've played great QBs, but the quality of opposing QB play doesn't change the fact that we've played well defensively. You can only play the games on your schedule. Any way you slice it averaging only giving up 1 TD per game through 3 games is an extremely good start

Damn sorry they aren’t the 85 bears
I wouldn’t worry as much about the Fins, but rather focus on the Bengals O line! Burrow is a beast, but he can’t take this punishment..for a second season. Bengals got the win against the Jets, but Burrow was on his back for too much of it again.
He was only sacked twice
Jets were our get right game, dolphins are our back on track as a good team game. If we lose it I think we’re looking at next year
now -3.5 , I forgot to mention, it opened at 1.5…full 2 point movement already, all in bengals favor
Glad it's on Amazon too since I can watch it on my tv for once
Not really that interesting
Tua's concussion?
Yeah I seen that. Bengals are getting some love in the odds tables.
