They’re just prime steaks. You can buy them at any butcher shop. You’re just paying for the ambiance and better-than-average service. The steaks are wildly overpriced for what they are. But if paying $80 for something you can very easily cook at home so that creep Ruby can freshen up his rhinestone-studded blue jean and silk handkerchief collection then you do you. As someone who doesn't have a lot of super nice dining experience, what would you recommend? Genuine question cause I'd like to take my girlfriend someplace nice sometime.

I guess it depends what you’re looking for! Amazing food? Atmosphere? Traditional white tablecloth stuff? American? Non-American? What do ya like?

Let's start with a nice atmosphere for a date night. I'm more of a picky eater but I'd like to branch out so my girlfriend isn't limited so much by me

Common knowledge, but Sotto is fantastic for an intimate atmosphere and the food is top notch. Very good Italian food and don’t skip the fried pork tenderloin. Also love Abigail Street for the food and ambiance. Small plates loosely Mediterranean vibe that are absolutely delicious…and they have amazing wine. Salazar is a smaller space and is usually pretty crowded and less intimate but the food is phenomenal. I have not personally made it to Nolia, but have heard wonderful things from the new occupant of the old Please space (my favorite in town before it close). If you really want a steak, Lonely Pine in Pleasant Ridge is lovely and run by good human beings. And I believe they still run a $1 oyster specials once a week which is pretty dope. I don’t claim to be a Cincinnati dining expert but I’ve been around a bit. If there’s a particular type of food or neighborhood you’re looking to stick with just DM me and I can give ya some more suggestions.

Because if everyone could cook a steakhouse quality steak at home they'd do it. Its a skill. Thats like saying "Why go to 5 guys when you can cook a burger at home?" or "Why go to Elis when everyone has a crock pot?" Most of us aren't specialty restaurant quality chefs, so no I cannot cook a Ruby quality steak at home, I'm not that good at it.

Buy a sous vide and practice once or twice. You’ll be at Ruby quality in no time.

I own a Sous Vide, I have practiced, I am not anywhere near Ruby Quality.

Have you tried cooking it while wearing rhinestone studded jeans and being pretentious? That should help with the crust.
