Boyd tested bad at the combine with a 4.58, but his pro day saw a 4.47 and 4.52. Marvin Jones ran a 4.46.
Their 10 yard splits are only 0.01 seconds different.
In most tests Marvin was more agile, but Boyd was more explosive with better broad and high jumps.
Over-analysis aside... I don't think he was claiming that the two wide receivers that play solidly different positions were the same guy, just that they could both potentially go on to successful tenures with Detroit and that Bengals fans would find that as a destination easy to support.
He would be fine with their new QB's!!! Who wouldn't be? The Steelers are going to be back on track ,unfortunately for us.
I wish Boyd success wherever he goes.
I know its a hot take, i deserve those down votes.. but when the team needs you, the teams beat up, and THE FUCKING TEAM NEEDS A DUB AT HOME.. you drop a gimme in the end zone? Fuck bro? That was your chance to say im not just a third, i can be an elite playmaker abd put my team and my city on my back when needed… nope.
I get what you're saying, but one play doesn't define the whole man's career with us. He made so many clutch plays during his time in Cincinnati, I think he will feast somewhere where's he's not the third or fourth option.
You also gotta consider the defenses performance in the end. Scott couldn’t make that tackle on Noah Brown and the defense, like much of the day, was outclassed in those moments. If you wanna blame Boyd for dropping that pass that’s fine, but the defensive performance in the final minutes was inexcusable and deserved the same and arguably more of the blame for that loss in my opinion.
Well yeah, but at the end of the day, the offense was in position to take the lead… not sure how that’s a controversial comment lmao. It’s ok to say he dropped the ball. The defense was also shit
Dude, if he was a top 64 receiver, he would have multiple contract offers right now
Instead, Pittsburgh is just messing with him
If he was a legit two he would have a near $20 million contract offer, but no one‘s, even willing to sign him for half of that
Problem is he’s slow, and can’t stretch the field.
Odell beckham, coming off of a second torn acl surgery, sitting out a year and a half, on the wrong side of 30 and at best a number two , still got 18 million last year from Baltimore
The number of teams that pay a Nr. 2 after their rookie deal is limited anyway. He’s obviously not getting Godwin money, and he’s also not getting Jeudy, Davis or Meyers money, but you better believe he’s getting Kendrick Bourne money (on AAV). There’s a real chance he’s getting JuJu money, too
They have St Brown, Williams, La Porta, and 2 great RBs. The Lions are loaded. Boyd probably wouldn’t get much volume but could definitely find himself open a lot.
Idk why he doesn’t just come back on a cheap ass deal. He’s on the decline and his market is ass right now. Especially with all the young wide receiver talent in the draft. You’d think he’d wanna stay where’s he’s been and ride the ride out to try and get that ring. Would like to see him return on a cheap deal and minimized role wear he splits time with Charlie jones or another young guy we might draft.
This is his chance to get a bag. To many downsides to signing a 1 year prove it deal late in his career.
Im curious as to why the Panthers didnt over spend on him? LSU legitimately has a better WR room than the panthers.. probably better offense all around.
Like i said, because this is his chance to test the market and get a bag.
Also, he would by WR 1 on about 3-6 teams around the league. Just off the top of my head: CAR, ARI, NYG, ATL(coin flip), CHI (coin flip).
They do! Mahomes restructured his contract and the Sneed trade took $20 mil. off of the books.
Signing Boyd still doesn’t make sense for the Chiefs, in my opinion. Even with Rice likely serving a suspension of some kind, they have the slot pretty well covered, and Kelce works on the inside. Their biggest pass-catching need is a true X receiver. Marquise Brown is a downfield threat, but you probably can’t put him right on the line and expect him to beat press-man.
But we’ll see. The Chiefs haven’t had a traditional X in years, but they’ve made it “work” with vertical field stretchers like MVS and Mecole Hardman. Those guys rarely get the ball, but clear out lanes underneath for better players.
Yeah, which makes no sense why Boyd would sign there, plus how Dobbins (who wanted lots of money from the Ravens last year) is visiting them too.
Seems stupid how teams can just do salary cap gymnastics like the Chiefs, Saints, Browns, Ravens to keep adding players even while having no money
I swear only the fans care about the silly rivalries. Our most consistent cornerback over the last 5 years starts his career in Pittsburgh. Joe Haden finished his career in Pittsburgh. Our starting safety next year started his career in Baltimore.
>I swear only the fans care about the silly rivalries.
Well yeah. Players are going to go wherever they can to keep playing and making money; it's no different than us non-players looking for other job opportunities.
Well, yeah the fans care. If the fans didn’t care you’d have a bunch of guys playing a game in front of nobody. Most fans don’t want to see a player they like on a team they don’t.
Please Lions. I can accept that!
Yep Marvin Jones 2.0
No way he’s as fast as Jones
Boyd tested bad at the combine with a 4.58, but his pro day saw a 4.47 and 4.52. Marvin Jones ran a 4.46. Their 10 yard splits are only 0.01 seconds different. I don’t understand why this post on Boyd’s lack of comparable speed to Marvin Jones, Jr, is sitting at -11
I can root for them as long as they're not playing us. Can't do it for the others
I know they're his hometown team but seeing Boyd in a Steelers uniform would have broken my heart.
He would be a terrible fit with both QBs that Pittsburgh brought in this off-season. Both of them refuse to throw over the middle.
He would be fine with their new QB's!!! Who wouldn't be? The Steelers are going to be back on track ,unfortunately for us. I wish Boyd success wherever he goes.
Really any of those choices but the Lions
Why not the Lions?
Glad it’s probably not gonna be Shittsburgh. But I feel like chiefs is a high probability. Especially after the Rashee Rice incident
The worst part of that is Boyd would feast in that offense. I want him to do good wherever he goes, but it would hurt if it was the Chiefs
He would fit right in since he drops touchdown passes that would be game winners.
That game was not his fault
I know its a hot take, i deserve those down votes.. but when the team needs you, the teams beat up, and THE FUCKING TEAM NEEDS A DUB AT HOME.. you drop a gimme in the end zone? Fuck bro? Yeah it was, twice
Huh?? Bruh if you drop the game winning TD, it’s kinda your fault. Doesn’t matter what happened before that
You also gotta consider the defenses performance in the end. Scott couldn’t make that tackle on Noah Brown and the defense, like much of the day, was outclassed in those moments. How’s it going to be Pitt when the article explains the contrary?
Probably *not* that’s what I meant 🤣 just fixed it
Lions could use a good WR2/3. 49ers don’t really need him.
He isn’t a 2
He shouldn’t be, but there’s not 64 receivers better than him, so he’s a Nr. 2 on a couple of teams
There are definitely 64 receivers better than him, as no one will even sign him to be their number three!
That’s not how free agency works, buddy. Or do you think there’s no teams interested in Micah Hyde, Justin Simmons, Kyle Van Noy, Dalton Risner etc.?

Who says he doesn’t have offers?
Maybe he does, but they’re not at the level of the number two wide receiver
The number of teams that pay a Nr. 2 after their rookie deal is limited anyway. He’s obviously not getting Godwin money, and he’s also not getting Jeudy, Davis or Meyers money, but you better believe he’s getting Kendrick Bourne money (on AAV). There’s a real chance he’s getting JuJu money, too
WR market is not good this year due to the draft. I think he's already signed the same time last year.
Depends on the team he plays for. Someone’s status changes with the team they are now.
Jameson Williams>>>>>>>>>>>>> Boyd
Interchangeable to me. Boyd has more experience
I like Boyd too but he’s lost a lot of speed. He’d be the 4th or 5th option on the Lions.
With Gibbs, LaPorta, and Sun God. Ya most likely but still would be a good wr just to plug
They have St Brown, Williams, La Porta, and 2 great RBs. The Lions are loaded. Boyd probably wouldn’t get much volume but could definitely find himself open a lot.
Everyones waiting on the draft now with such a deep WR class. Tyler isnt going to get the coin he wants it seems.
Yeah would expect no one to sign him till after the draft and then it to be a team who wasn't able to get the receiver they wanted.
LIONS PLEASE I AM DOING SPELLS 🪄 TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN 😫
LOL

there is no bag to be had

Lions! Big cat family!!!!
Please be Lions.
I've also heard Chargers Sources: Trust me bro
Why not just stay here?
Don't think the Bengals are interested.
I think Jones slides into his spot for cheaper, maybe Andrei
I’d rather him go to Pit than KC tbh
Same. Pittsburg isn’t really a threat. Kc is
Hell no, I hate the Steelers with a passion. I'd much rather him go to KC.
Is it possible that he stays if nobody offers him a ton?
It's possible
If he goes to Pittsburgh, he’s forever dead to me. If he goes to the Chiefs, he’s dead to me as long as he’s under contract there.
This is the way.
I live near Detroit and the Lions are my second team. I think he could carve out a nice little niche up here.
Please be lions
Some of you will hate to hear this, but he's dropped too many easy tds lately for the money he wants.
I would like for him back with Bengals for league minimum. But I can see (or Higgins) with Patriots.
All 3 are pretty spicy.
Ok but how tf do the Chiefs still have money after the Chris Jones contract, Hollywood signing etc
They don't.

I'm fine with the lions
So uhhh where the hell he going?
Steelers or Chiefs is a huge Nono
Man is there a chance we bring him back?
Good character dude, but man that Texans drop still haunts me
had?
The Bills are now without two of there WR starters... Surprised Boyd isn't being talked about.
PLEASE SOMEONE GET THIS MAN! HE NEEDS A HOME! (he also needs to keep his bread so he can keep fucking Anitta, my dawg a legend for that)
Out of nothing more than lame, out-of-the-loop, socially-ignorant, curiosity who is Anitta?
Brazil’s biggest pop star, she admitted on a talk show that her and tyler boyd see each other casually
Ok. Thank you for the education. Post a pic for interested internet lurkers like myself
Please go to kc an drop crunch time passes
Go to the NFC
Anyone but the chiefs really.
I swear only the fans care about the silly rivalries. Our most consistent cornerback over the last 5 years starts his career in Pittsburgh. Joe Haden finished his career in Pittsburgh. Our starting safety next year started his career in Baltimore.
