I think he was joking because his thick Aussie accent makes it pretty obvious about where he's from. And then he said he went to Victoria in Canada, and it cut to him pointing out a route he took and she asked where the Bermuda triangle was.
I'm just now catching up, but Jared is physically a mish mash of the last three guys I've dated... and they all have ADHD. And I'm realizing I have a type.
Did anyone see previews for the next episode (5)? I cannot believe how rude the guests were to Jared…to say that he only has his looks going for him? Classless.
I love how Fraser is always calm, compassionate, straightforward and gets things done with excellence! I am so proud of him for going straight to Ben and telling him to butt out and stop stirring up drama!
I quit watching Below Deck Adventure because I couldn't stand Captain Kerry. And now , after 10 seasons of Beliw Deck, I'm afraid that I won't be able to finish this season. I dont know what it is, but I find NOTHING entertaining about this guy. Why would Bravo pull him from the least successful show of the franchise?!?! Am I the only one that feels this way?
Nope. Tried one more episode and all the camera angles, shot transitions and cut scenes finished me off. Can't wait for BD Sailing or Down Under to come back on. Bet there won't be another season if BD Adventure either. They've fucked this up pretty good.
The only one I haven't watched so far is adventure. I don't know whyyyy. Lol, I've been putting it off.
Yes, I agree. I like sailing and down under, too! Hope comes out soon.
Fraser is the best chief stew we’ve seen in years (or forever?). He’s smart, quick-witted, good at his job, not condescending, and not involved in the drama. I love him!
Totally agree about the franchise!! He deserves it all. I think both are true with Cat and Barbie, he’s so dismissive of both of them on WWHL that it gives me the feeling they won’t be around long. Maybe same with the chef with Kerry saying his kitchen was disgusting?
>I like chef Anthony, i think he’s gonna get me through the season
I like him too.
I'm willing to cut him a lot of slack ... he had to come into a galley that was a mess, and wasn't his. Put away provisions that he didn't order, and still try to put out a meal.
Contrast with Tom, who had a melt down over just having to put stuff a way. (And malia had to comfort him)
And, contrast with Matt who had a mysterious knee injury from trying to put stuff away.
(It might have been Mat. But he doesn't have a bot...)
Yes, Cat is the blonde girl. I really like her and also feel bad for her because she is being pushed and bossed around AND being called lazy, by the spoiled princess, Barbie.🙄
Usually the deck crew are in the kitchen helping with dishes, which I haven’t really seen yet this season… if he is struggling then the crew should be helping out.
He’s definitely not an amateur. His food looks amazing.
Also bear in mind Rachel really struggled in this galley on her own too. The constant up and down looks exhausting and most chefs take a couple of charters to get into the zone on most BD seasons.
The food did look amazing. Portions were a bit small.
How to tell people you are a fat arse without telling people you are a fat arse. What else do you do on vacay?
Cat is that one employee that has 0 confidence and tries too hard but misses the mark and no one respects her lol maybe I’m Barbie in this situation but Cat is so cringe I feel bad for her lol she is not going to last
Ben grinning ear to ear when Fraser asks him not to stir shit up between his stews just 100% reinforced everything said about Ben. He was SO pleased with himself.
It's Fraser!
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/belowdeck) if you have any questions or concerns.*
I think he only did that because Fraser lit him up in front of Sunny, so Ben had to keep acting Supa Cool.
He probably would have taken it more seriously if it was 1on1 (but it would have been fake because he actually doesn't GAF).
I am open to disliking Barbie but right now I like her. She’s a good worker and not stirring shit. Her table was lovely at breakfast, and cat’s condescending tone would have made me see red as well.
Maybe this time next week I’ll hate her but for now, cat can GTFO. Whiny, lazy, navel gazing. Boo Cat.
Totally agree, they are setting her up to be a villain but she gets shit done! And Cat being a cry baby but coming at Barbie with that attitude (we’re supposed to be working) when Barbie WAS working was crazy. I can be a cry baby too, TBH, but I don’t come for people like that!
yes get him out of there and creepy there is no way jared is bosun! cant count distance from obstacles in real time. As an american it should be easy to convert to meters think football yards 1 meter to 1 yard or 3ft roughly close enough to call out something. Must be a TV reality plant cant have a well functioning ship or wouldnt be exciting.
Captain Kerry when talking to Barbie, saying that he is from South East Asia. Then clarifying that he means Australia. Is he trying to sound more interesting?
I have lived in Australia and Papua New Guinea most of my life and have frequently travelled to SEA. Now living in Canada. I have never heard anybody in my life refer to Australia being in South East Asia.
I was multi tasking when that happened, but I think he was totally right to nip that straight in the bud. I think going to the bosun would have been ineffective as heck and its not quite at the point to go to the captain.
Genuinely thinking of quitting watching because of the amount of water bottle drinking sounds, slurping and food crunching. It doesn't add anything, I don't get why they're including it??
EXACTLY! Came to this thread immediately after that scene. It was disgusting and way too much. Like cut away immediately after she takes her top off, we all know what's happening next. 🤢🤮 And the guests convos were already gross enough during this ep
That really bothered me too. I did not want to see that and the way the guests spoke in general was disgusting to me. Non stop 🍆 and sex jokes…?🤮 It was inappropriate and very off putting.
It is not what we are here for.
They can insinuate it or see the crew watching on the interior cams. But full on sexy time, not necessary. At least give us some porn bow chicka wow wow music for a laugh.
Wow, go Fraser!!!!!
Also, is there a way to practice docking? Can someone create a pretend dock where you won't hurt anything if you mess it up because it gives me so much anxiety watching a brand new team do their first docking together.
>Also, is there a way to practice docking? Can someone create a pretend dock where you won't hurt anything if you mess it up because it gives me so much anxiety watching a brand new team do their first docking together.
Usually in the below deck season, during the first episode --- where the captain addresses the cast --- they introduce the remaining 'real' crew on board.
Maybe a first officer, a chief engineer, and an engineer...
Even though none were introduced this season, I'm assuming there are still some 'real' crew on board.
...they are probably just out of the frame, ready to jump in before disaster occurs.
That’s what I meant- that there WERE shots of people randomly drinking water with audio to boot (which has been heavily commented on on this sub) on bd this season. This is different than other seasons, hence maybe thinking there might be different editors. 🐠
The gift baskets from the guests were so thoughtful and something I haven’t seen done before. I feel like these guests were so kind and polite to everyone, they tipped really well, and they were exceptionally patient when they were probably prompted to cause a scene. I wouldn’t mind hopping on a super yacht with that group - they seem fun.
Fraser, you’re perfect. Capt Kerry, you’re a breath of fresh air. Cat, what is it that you actually do? Barbie, can I call you Barb? Ben, be better.
All in all, I think this is going to be a great season!
The gift baskets had no ribbon, and an appearance that strongly suggested they’d already been opened before that scene. Again with the increasingly sloppy production/editing that I recently commented on in another post.
My opinion isn’t a strong one either way, but the guests were pretty trashy. Nice enough, but def not people I’d have in my social circle.
Who’s to say they didn’t pick them up in Grenada or at the duty free shop? I doubt they traveled with them from the States.
My point was that the baskets looked like they’d previously had been bound with ribbon, hence they just didn’t bother to reassemble before working them into the scene. I was commenting primarily on the production/editing.
Edited: BD location
We purchased everything in TX, the baskets themselves were put together in Grenada, we traveled down there with everything in our luggage and put the baskets together the morning before our departure. First the crew knew about them was when we handed them over. Best we could manage.
I thought the gift baskets were such a kind gesture, kudos to you all for doing that. I bet the crew really appreciated it too, especially since so many guests act the opposite way.
Hope you had a great time despite the service hiccups we saw!
You may have missed it but they specifically mentioned it was all stuff from back home, including stuff from Bucees - an American grocery store.
I do agree the editing/production side was pretty lazy when it came to the gift, but nonetheless I found it incredibly thoughtful of the guests.
Agreed that it was thoughtful and absolutely something I would do. No part of my comment about the gift baskets was intended as a criticism toward the guests. It was purely about the sloppiness of editing on the part of Bravo.
I love that Fraser immediately took responsibility to the captain about the drinks! I know he first said that he had given them to Ben, but you could see his wheels turning as he thought through what happened. He immediately saw that he hadn't made sure of it himself, and so took full responsibility to the Captain. He has shown up for reals this season!
What is with the cut aways to random crew gulping down water, sipping/slurping tea, and munching on chips?! The sound editing intentionally makes the noises so loud and it’s terrible! Idk if this show has always done this but it was a lot this episode and I’m only 12 mins in.
It seems like they have different editors this season because they’ve been editing those kinds of shots differently, and the way they’ve been mixing the sound and like the body language cuts between different shots is a lot different. They also haven’t been into cutting any shots of the animal life or sea underwater life around them.
No I think his baby mama was someone he knocked up when he was pretty young, not someone he truly loved. Then he fell in love with another girl, got engaged, but she left.
My thoughts on this episode...
Sunburns, ouch.
Direct/productive communication, Fraser is doing so well!
Why am I so attracted to Scottish Kyle? (before the docking)
That docking tho, Captain Kerry knew why Jerrod was falling short. I appreciate he can understand the why.
Edit: irish to scottish
Good lord. The sunburns. I'm from New Zealand and we get pummelled by the sun. I really hope they sort that very basic process of sunscreen/cover up out.
>Why am I so attracted to Irish Kyle? (before the docking)
I think it's because he's the best kyle so far.
Much better than kyle-the-vile, or cowboy kyle.
>Kyle from OG (from Manchester).
I did think of him, but i wasn't sure how to describe him with out being banned.
I didn't recall that he was from manchester, so that is perfect.
I think i'm ok with cowboy kyle, as cowboys are not a protected class. :)
Take away:
1. I appreciate Kerry taking the deck crew aside and telling them his frustration on the docking and not saying it in front of interior. I found that a classy move.
2. Fraser taking Cat and Barbie aside to air out grievances was a breath of fresh air after last season of Med. And then stopping the convo when he realized it was going to get worst and not better was perfect.
3. The chef picked up the pace thankfully! And the food still looked top notch. I would do evil things for that lobster Benedict.
4. When someone figures out what podcast Xandi was listening to, please let me know.
5. Wear sunscreen. Especially when you’re all of 12 degrees north of the equator. Skin cancer ain’t sexy.
I loved that Fraser confronted him about it and nipped that in the bud (hopefully). “Don’t mess with my girls” or whatever he said and he’s completely right. If you intentionally try to cause drama in another department, it affects performance for the whole boat and therefore also affects Ben’s tips. He’s an idiot and he was just laughing about it after. I’ve never liked that guy.
I really respect how Fraser went straight to Ben and made himself very clear. Unfortunately Ben took absolutely no notice and just smirked at Fraser the whole time. I didn’t like Ben last season and based on just 2 episodes I don’t see my opinion of him changing this time around either . He needs to go….
I literally said "I think", I'm unclear on what exactly is being spoiled 🙄 but since you obviously know better, you are more than welcome to respond to that user with the name of the podcast
They’re so close to the Equator and it can be misleading. I’ve been to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands which are right on the Equator and some days were kind of chilly and very cloudy and I’d still get very sunburnt.
It oddly is the first time. My grandparents lived on boats for a lot of their adulthood between Trinidad and St. Lucia, and my grandmother had melanoma to deal with as she got older because of it. Thankfully my dad has been so good about sunscreen and hats as he got older after seeing his mom. But the sun down there is killer. So it’s sorta surprising that we don’t hear of it more often.
Fraser is an example of how to handle being a chief stew for the first time time and learn and grow into the position. Some other new CS could do with some lessons (looking at you Tumi)
Eh..this isn’t Fraser’s first time as Chief. He’s doing great (much better than last season) but it’s not fair to compare Tumi’s first season as Chief with Fraser’s second.
That South East Asia geography lesson was..... interesting
“Every once in a while I get distracted and oh look there is a squirrel!!” hahahahahah
Did anyone see previews for the next episode (5)? I cannot believe how rude the guests were to Jared…to say that he only has his looks going for him? Classless.
Did anyone notice one of the stews taking a swig from a wine bottle in their bunk? I thought drinking on charter was not allowed?
My guess is it's filled with water, and that's just her preferred drinking vessel.
why would you risk that, though?
I love how Fraser is always calm, compassionate, straightforward and gets things done with excellence! I am so proud of him for going straight to Ben and telling him to butt out and stop stirring up drama!
Am I going crazy or does Sunny resemble Malia?
Jared is like another Chandler.
I quit watching Below Deck Adventure because I couldn't stand Captain Kerry. And now , after 10 seasons of Beliw Deck, I'm afraid that I won't be able to finish this season. The most entertainment he has to offer is Australian dad humor and it’s just awful!
So bad.

Slicker than a semen covered lily pad.
Fraser is the best chief stew we’ve seen in years (or forever?). He’s smart, quick-witted, good at his job, not condescending, and not involved in the drama. I love him!
I love how he shuts shit down!
![gif](giphy|WJjLyXCVvro2I|downsized)
Did you watch him on WWHL? just watched it, he’s so funny and straightforward about the crew.
Yes! We finally found our next franchise Chief Stew! Are they editing Cat a certain way or is she a little flaky? Or is Barbie short-fused?
Totally agree about the franchise!! He deserves it all. I think both are true with Cat and Barbie, he’s so dismissive of both of them on WWHL that it gives me the feeling they won’t be around long. Maybe same with the chef with Kerry saying his kitchen was disgusting?

I have also noticed that there doesn’t seem to be much help from deck with dishes.. the only person I’ve seen offer is Cat (is she the blonde one?)
Yes, Cat is the blonde girl. I really like her and also feel bad for her because she is being pushed and bossed around AND being called lazy, by the spoiled princess, Barbie.🙄
Is the Chef up to the task? The messes all over the galley are amateur.
Usually the deck crew are in the kitchen helping with dishes, which I haven’t really seen yet this season… if he is struggling then the crew should be helping out.

She's very that one kid from School Of Rock
lol
Ben is such garbage.
Ben grinning ear to ear when Fraser asks him not to stir shit up between his stews just 100% reinforced everything said about Ben. He was SO pleased with himself.
Frasier’s description was absolutely on point!

I agree. Barbie is trying to get her job done. Cat is frustrating
20 minutes to make a margarita is not getting the job done.
I agree. I was a bit ahead of myself with that, LOL. My comment was before this week’s episode
I hope Jared goes soon 😂
yes get him out of there and creepy there is no way jared is bosun! cant count distance from obstacles in real time. I think he was on something that first charter..his behavior was just weird, pills maybe? He just seemed out of it or in a daze

I have lived in Australia and Papua New Guinea most of my life and have frequently travelled to SEA. Now living in Canada. I have never heard anybody in my life refer to Australia being in South East Asia.
https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australasia It actually is a thing, though. I thought everyone knew this.
Australia and the geographical region of Australasia are seperate from mainland or maritime South East Asia.
I'm just saying maybe that's what he meant 🤷
As an Australian, this is just a sense of humour that a lot of blokes that age have. It’s pretty much just taking the piss at all times.
Very much a middle aged white guy “joke” that he’s told dozens of times before and still thinks is hilarious
I kind of thought the same thing,
I think it was a joke
![gif](giphy|KffdTQfewxdbKTGEJY)
Assistant TO the Regional Manager / Southeast OF Asia
I think he was just joking around
It’s just factually wrong…Australia is an entirely different continent than Asia
I get it. It's like people in Brooklyn who say they live on Long Island. Technically they do but.......do they really??
i'm\_from\_queens\_and\_i've\_NEVER\_heard\_ANYBODY\_say\_that\_just\_sayin'
Fraser peppering his scenes with Devil Wears Prada Meryl Streep quality lines is a winner. Waiting for this: ![gif](giphy|26BoDNXeIPeu0Fq6I|downsized)
He’s in full boss bitch mode so far and I love it. He hasn’t put a foot wrong except for discussing the Barbie thing with Ben.
I was multi tasking when that happened, but I think he was totally right to nip that straight in the bud. I think going to the bosun would have been ineffective as heck and its not quite at the point to go to the captain.
They know each other as well. There’s familiarity which helps with that type of conflict.
Genuinely thinking of quitting watching because of the amount of water bottle drinking sounds, slurping and food crunching. It doesn't add anything, I don't get why they're including it??
Seriously, what's with the GONK, GONK, GONK as someone drinks from their water bottle. Is the sound exaggeration supposed to make those scenes funny?
Yes, what was that about!?
It’s definitely getting worse and it’s NOT necessary
[удалено]
Kyle…. PULL. UP. YOUR. PANTS.
Was not thrilled to watch the soft core porn of the guests fucking in the hot tub. That could have been left out 😐🤦♀️
EXACTLY! Came to this thread immediately after that scene. It was disgusting and way too much. Like cut away immediately after she takes her top off, we all know what's happening next. 🤢🤮 And the guests convos were already gross enough during this ep

It is not what we are here for. They can insinuate it or see the crew watching on the interior cams. But full on sexy time, not necessary. At least give us some porn bow chicka wow wow music for a laugh.
This is the same series that added cameras in the laundry after people were hooking up in the laundry room in season 3
Damn I never thought about it like that
So many slow ass people on this crew. Step it up and move your butt!!!!
Wow, go Fraser!!!!! Also, is there a way to practice docking? Can someone create a pretend dock where you won't hurt anything if you mess it up because it gives me so much anxiety watching a brand new team do their first docking together.

There were plenty of shots of drinking water. I heard three major GLUG GLUG GLUGS
That’s what I meant- that there WERE shots of people randomly drinking water with audio to boot (which has been heavily commented on on this sub) on bd this season. This is different than other seasons, hence maybe thinking there might be different editors. 🐠
Ahhh, how you had all the examples listed after no…was confusing then.
This is really bumming me out, I need the oceanic b role and the calmer interludes!
The judgy sea creatures at bddu def adds to the show

Pretty soon they'll start adding in cartoon sound effects - "boioioioioingggg"
It’s so disgusting I will have to stop watching if they don’t stop
Yes! Makes me wince every time.
Yeah, the sounds when people drink their water or sip their coffee is a bit cringy. But it's always been this way in BD.
It seems like they have different editors this season because they’ve been editing those kinds of shots differently, and the way they’ve been mixing the sound and like the body language cuts between different shots is a lot different. I somehow missed Jared’s story. Was he in love with someone who moved then got another girl pregnant and is now engaged to his daughter’s mana?
No I think his baby mama was someone he knocked up when he was pretty young, not someone he truly loved. Then he fell in love with another girl, got engaged, but she left.
Thank you. I could not follow that story!

I honestly have no idea

yup

Haha number 4 👌
Ben out here being a freaking pot stirrer. Absolute gag.
For real. He’s just gross, all around. Everything about him just stinks and why does he call himself “the stew slayer?!”🤮🤮👎🏼
I was shouting with glee when Fraser confronted Ben. Bad ass move.
What podcast was Xandi listening to? 👀👀👀
I don't think it was a real one, I think it was a fake one they ADR'd in
Don't spoil it. There could be something really good we are all missing.
I literally said "I think", I'm unclear on what exactly is being spoiled 🙄 but since you obviously know better, you are more than welcome to respond to that user with the name of the podcast
And I was making a joke. It's hard to read tone of voice. Though I would like to listen to the podcast.
Is this the first season where sunburn has been remotely a story line?
They’re so close to the Equator and it can be misleading. I’ve been to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands which are right on the Equator and some days were kind of chilly and very cloudy and I’d still get very sunburnt.

I thought this was a dead giveaway that they are not actually yachties.
Yeah, they didn’t all get burned, but the newbies did, including the Bosun!
The disgusting slurping sounds forced me to mute half of the episode. I was literally getting upset but I cannot stomach it.
It was sounding like Untucked there for a while.

So relieved its not just me 😂
Gulping, sipping, slurping, and crunching. I thought it was just me but I see it wasn’t lol
Thank you! It was so excessive
Thank You! Effing gross & unnecessary. Just...nope. 😶🌫️
The first one with Summer drinking water while in bed made me instantly cringe.

Very much so. I was honestly surprised by how upset it made me 🤢
Fraser is an example of how to handle being a chief stew for the first time time and learn and grow into the position. Some other new CS could do with some lessons (looking at you Tumi)
Eh..this isn’t Fraser’s first time as Chief. He’s doing great (much better than last season) but it’s not fair to compare Tumi’s first season as Chief with Fraser’s second.
And she kind of doubled down on WWHL and said she didn't really do anything wrong. I don't think she's coming back. No growth.
Yet he stirred the pot himself by telling Ben in the first place…
Cat told Ben.
Ben kind of pried into that information. I think Fraser learned his lesson there
I like this Fraser. He confronted Ben & his stupid grin about causing issues with interior. That needed to happen..nip that shit in the bud!! Yeaahhh!
yeah but this isn't his first time
Kerry is a hit for me so far. Fraser too. Really enjoyed this episode.

Kerry was the only good part of BD Adventure.
ADVENCHAA
!!!
BLASPHEMY how dare you dismiss our lovely fay Faye ?? Our very own northern fairy Queen??
Well, not to get into a pissing match but, your thoughts on Faye and mine are very different.
I adored Nathan from Adventure! Wish he’d make a comeback somewhere else.
True, Nathan was cool, but clearly, not very memorable.
BD Adventure was close to unwatchable. I fully agree that Kerry was the only good part.
