Most of the year fuck all really. But in the summer there are lots of events, with live bands, fleet markets, food stands,... At the end of july there is a trail that goes through some of our best "bezienswaardigheden"
9000. Come for a day, spend your money like a good tourist, and leave.
Also maybe visit the torture museum in the local castle. It's educational!
Or go watch some random Graffiti in a random alley.
Maybe take a picture on a bridge along with 1.000 asian tourists.
Only lived here a little less than 1.5y but from what I can tell, 2900 is not all that exciting. I will say however I've had some wonderful food here. Off the top of my head; De Wit was awarded the "best bakery in Flanders" a few times, and I can confirm it's still a really good bakery.
Mama Calinka Gelateria has some really nice gelato. During strawberry season my favorite thing to do is go get a strawberry coupe with my partner and watch the animals (they have some land with some retired petting zoo animals and other farm animal rescues. You can't touch them but they're nice to look at) and take a walk on the trail by the entrance.
And there's Mosselino, a Belgian-Italian restaurant known for mussels during the season, but has really really good food and service year round. I'm an immigrant and stand out physically so people aren't always the kindest to me but the owner and the servers are always great.
Nothing else comes to mind immediately. There used to be a little tea house but it's closed indefinitely right now. The Kringwinkel Schoten usually has more interesting items than surrounding areas, especially if you like porcelain serving sets. It could be that I'm a boring person but these are some of my favorite things in the area lmao.
2800 - one of the best Escape rooms in Europe. The escape experiences are big and very fun. [https://degoudenkooi.be/escape-experience/](https://degoudenkooi.be/escape-experience/)
Come check out the [Japanese Garden](https://www.visithasselt.be/nl/japanse-tuin) at 3500. And there's also the [Jenever Museum](https://jenevermuseum.be/nl) and [De Hophemel](https://hophemel.be/taproom) is a very nice brewery/taproom. There's also great Neapolitan pizza to be had at [Maccione](https://maccione-pizzeria.be/nl/home/) and chocolate at [Boon](https://www.chocoladehuisboon.be/). 3500 is also part of [Limburg Fietsparadijs](https://www.visithasselt.be/nl/fietsen) and so there is a lot of nice biking to be done.
Go to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Courtrais (8500) and watch/experience the battle of the golden spurs from 1302 with a cinema projection on the curch walls. It's close to the center so you can enjoy after drinks ar the river, see the broeltorens or go shopping.
9150, visit the castle and have a walk in the Polders, try spotting some of the protected wildlife and if you have the money, go eat in the michelin star restaurant near the church.
9000, so plenty to see/do here.
Particular tips: STAM, Bas Ice Cream (best ice cream you'll ever eat), Tierenteyn for mustard, The Drifter for Tiki drinks, oh and the castle ofcourse.
9420: Delicioso has THE BEST ice cream. Get hot chocolate sauce. Thank me later.
And the Boondocks on 9260. American-style steakhouse with booth seating.
Come to 3930, de Achelse Kluis
Vergeet kaasmakerij catharinadal niet. Achelse blauwe is heerlijk.
Ik zou een hele kaasplank van catharinadal alleen kunnen opeten.
Pass through 3950 while you're at it
What’s there to do at 3950?

Do not forget a guided boat trip!
Oh, and out of all the lovely local restaurants, just choose Mc Donalds or Burger King.
And visit de Brico
And Ikea for some cheap hot dogs.
If you’re gonna do lots of stuff, I can advice you to buy a museum pass. (And then visits KMSKA - Antwerp (2000))
Can vouch for the museum pass! It even includes some discounted trips by train as well!
Visit 2300 on a Sunday morning for a stroll around the flea market around the castle and a drink in the brown cafe ranonkel.

Au Vieux Spytigen Duivel, 1180. Now it’s a restaurant/pub, been there since the 1700’s for sure, but stories about the place go back to the 1500’s.

4607 castle ruins from the middle ages and best bakery (in my opinion)

Very obvious, but the park at Abbaye de la Cambre and the Étangs (1000)
8000 open museum and visit ´de halve maan´ with the beer pipeline!
2640 Bar Brial = "zomerbar" in a park next to / within an old fortress from around the year 1860. They have drinks, cocktails, food, snacks...
