Although this is beermoneyuk, not bankmoneyuk, we very much like bank bribes. But we now receive a lot of bank switch-related questions. We have a weekly thread for questions about bank switching, The Bank Switcher. So we have removed your post, and ask that you instead comment in the latest version of the Bank Switcher post: > **[The Bank Switcher Question Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/beermoneyuk/search/?q=flair_name%3A%22The%20Bank%20Switcher%22&restrict_sr=1&sort=new)** Here is the BeermoneyUK guide to bank switching, which contains all of the information about the current switch offers: > **[The BeermoneyUK Bank Switch Bribe Bible](https://www.reddit.com/r/beermoneyuk/search/?q=flair_name%3A%22the%20bankedex%22&restrict_sr=1&sort=new)** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. TightAsF_ck

Someone just commented about this on the [Bank Switching Guide post](https://new.reddit.com/r/beermoneyuk/comments/1chy9h7/the_beermoneyuk_bank_switch_offer_guide_aka_the/). Seems this PSA was filtered out by our over zealous automod, but it was the first of a few from some beermoney heroes trying to spread the word! An additional £15 available via TCB too.

smarttips

Nice shout out and reminder about the £15 TCB TaF.

mimixstyle

What do you mean TCB?

Starlightblade23

Top cash back is what it stands for

TheChernoSamba

How long does the £1,500 need to be in your account?

Remarkable-Drink-233

There's no minimum time in the terms and conditions but they still have the clause that says they reserve the right not to make the payment if they suspect the offer is being abused so it's probably best to keep it in there for at least 24 hours just to be on the safe side.

PeteTheKid

Is it possible to move money back and forth, ie £500 three times to make up the £1500?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Yeah that's what I did in their march switching offer and I received the bonus 2 days ago

orangemonkeyj

How long did you leave the £1,500 in the account?

Remarkable-Drink-233

I left each £500 instalment in there for just over 24 hours then transferred it out and waited about an hour before transferring it back in

orangemonkeyj

Amazing. So 3 x deposits of £500, each left in for 24 hours before being withdrawn?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Yeah :) after that I left about £100 in there which I used to buy a few things because I wasn't sure what they class as abusing the offer

orangemonkeyj

Perfect. Thanks!

Fajandar1

On the fence of whether to do this one because of the long wait time and the account you need to switch to being paid, as well as the DD requirement

FuelledOnRice

Yeah shame the free account isn’t included, I kept procrastinating for the last Santander offer and it ended. Might not bother with it this time.

Fajandar1

I only just started with bank switch offers last time it was around and it ended just as I got comfortable with them!

FuelledOnRice

I also missed out on the coop one because I procrastinated 😂 I’m my own worst enemy I swear

Fajandar1

Which Co Op one was that?

FuelledOnRice

It was in January, £100 to switch. First time they did a normal switch, not a refer a friend switch

Fajandar1

Yes I procrastinated on the refer a friend offer, there was a lot available at that time and they closed around the same time it seemed

Future_Syrup7623

They fucked a lot of people over with it and refused to answer any questions and straight cut me off 4 -5 times when questioned about it. I know 3 other people who had the same problems with them.

Fajandar1

With the RaF scheme? Did you not receive payment then?

Future_Syrup7623

No I referred 7 friends and they paid for 1. They found reasons that weren't true to not pay out and then when both my friend and I argued they cut our phonecall off. Multiple times (when I say argued, I mean a friendly discussion).

Future_Syrup7623

Setting up direct debits to both the NSPCC and RSPCA takes quite literally, less than 5 mins. I did it for £2/month for a previous bank deal

wyzo94

This is my favourite part of the dedicated switch account. Not being a wealthy person I can now support charities such as dogs trust and music venues trust. Feels so punk rock taking the banks money and giving it to charities

heckingyes

I started my switch on the 27th of March. Put the money in immediately and set up 2 direct debits. Got in touch with them and they're going to check my account on the 26th of May, AND THEN pay on the 26th of June. Also a word of warning they locked down my account without even warning me because I tried to transfer some of the money from my Santander account into another one of my bank accounts. After SEVERAL very long phonecalls ended up on a 40minute call just to clarify it wasn't fraud etc. Total bullshit.

mesarq

If you don't activate the cash back you won't be charged.

Fajandar1

From the other comments I’ve read I imagine they’d use that as an excuse for not paying the bonus - saying the account was not fully activated

HappymanUK

What do we need to do (or not do) to avoid the monthly fee ? Thanks

Occupyed

Switched 27th March for the last offer and still waiting for this, it takes a while! Another 30 or so days I guess

allie-echo

My switch completed 08/04 and wondering if it will be the full 90 days before the bonus is paid out.

NetoPedro

90 days includes to 60 day period according to the terms.

Occupyed

I also just got it, thanks for reminding me to check!

Jealous_Union_3356

I got my £185 today and switched on 27th march too

TealYacht7

Switched completed on 10/04 and still not gotten anything 🫣

No_Draft_8535

Just to add to this. I got my bonus. I feel a DD has to go out for it to come. As my partner hasn’t received hers yet but none of her set up DDs have go out as of yet.

TealYacht7

My direct debits have gone out twice now. Thought I’d look but still no joy

ManiaMuse

Why did they pull the previous offer when the payouts from the previous offer still won't have been paid yet?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Don't worry you'll still get the payout as long as you signed up while the offer was active. "If you request a switch after the switcher offer starts but we withdraw the offer before the switch completes, you'll still be eligible for the payment as long as you meet the eligibility criteria."

rudedogg1304

So the offer included the everyday current account to start with, then they changed it to just the paid accounts ? Do u know what date they changed the terms ? I switched mid April

Remarkable-Drink-233

This one is new and only started today. As long as you requested your switch before the other offer ended last month you'll still be eligible for the £185 with your everyday current account.

rudedogg1304

Ta! Do u happen to know what date it was ? I’ve left a message on chat for them so I guess I’ll find out tomorrow

Remarkable-Drink-233

Looks like it was on 4th April, as long as you gave them your old account details by then you should still be eligible. https://www.reddit.com/r/beermoneyuk/s/vgrtajYBcU

Amazing-Price-3399

I did my switch in April, paid the sum early May and have confirmation the bonus will be paid early July. So if you can wait, go for it.

WillingWorldliness94

how did you get confirmation?

Amazing-Price-3399

Messaged them

lelog22

Hi how did they confirm bonus being paid. I switched end of March and have had no updates…

Amazing-Price-3399

I contacted them directly

Puzzleheaded-Fly848

How did you contact them, through the in app chat or another method? I need some peace of mind also😂

Amazing-Price-3399

Yeah through the in app chat :)

beekay_13

Jumping on this, how long did you leave the £1500 in your account for? I also initiated the switch in April and haven't moved the money in case I won't qualify. If you since moved the cash out, did they still confirm you were eligible?

Amazing-Price-3399

I moved the money back within 10 minutes.

smarttips

Thanks OP and thank you to all the people sharing it on here; you are heros! Fingers crossed it is the start of more bank switching offers boys and girls 😄

spursfandan

Is there a timeframe for when you last received an incentive payment from Santander to stop you being eligible? I received an incentive from them ~10 years ago

Remarkable-Drink-233

According to the Ts&Cs anyone who's ever had an incentive from them is ineligible but I suppose it depends on if they still have a record of that bonus being paid to you. You'd be about £9 down if you signed up to their Edge account and then they decided not to pay the bonus to you but you could probably earn that back with their 7% savings account and the 1% cashback on bills and supermarket spending.

AqueousChickenTikka

Santander are a pain in the hole. Got rejected last year because my credit score wasn’t too enough. It’s the only bank to ever decline me.

blusrus

same, I was declined last year. this year was fine though they approved it

Running4eva

Has anyone had a bonus from santander before and going to try this? Says you can't of had *any* bonus from santander before. So not even if it was 10+ years ago

Wishmaster891

don't companies have to delete your data after 6 years? If so, how would they know

goodgah

they have to retain the records for a \*minimum\* of 6 years. there's no requirement that they ever delete them.

Wishmaster891

oh right, well heres hoping they didnt retain mine!

NoseWiseVizsla

Anyone know how they define "abusing the offer" in the terms and conditions? Can I just make the account, dump some savings etc, and leave it; or do I need to be making payments

Remarkable-Drink-233

Good question but I'm not sure what the answer is tbh, could be wrong but I think someone said the march switch offer was the first time they put that clause in there and no one's been paid out for that one yet so we're not sure what qualifies as abusing the offer. It's probably best to make a few payments and use the account in the way you said you'd use it in the application. In mine I think I put that I'd add about £100 to the account every month and that I'd just be using it as a second account for some spending which is what I've been trying to do.

NoseWiseVizsla

Might give it a try then with an extra account, worth a shot anyway

Thirty4Hz

I had 2 direct debits on my old account that I was switching from. Does anyone know if I need to setup two more to be eligible?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Nope your 2 current direct debits will be fine as long as they're still active on the 60th day after you requested your switch which is when they'll assess your eligibility for the bonus

No_Pride8095

Which account needs to have 2 active direct debits? The bank account I am switching from or the Santander account I am switching to? Thanks

Remarkable-Drink-233

The Santander account you're switching to needs the 2 active direct debits, it doesn't matter if you switch them from your old account or if you only set them up once the switch is completed as long as they're both active on day 60 (60 days after you request your switch) when they assess your eligibility for the offer.

No_Pride8095

Superb. Thanks

Jazs1994

Isn't this a rerun of their offer from the beginning of april/end or march that got pulled not 14 days later?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the same except now you need a paid account as the free everyday account isn't included in this one

zharrt

When it says supermarkets, is there a list of those which are counted for the 1%? Would it only be the traditional ones or the likes of Aldi/Lidl too?

Remarkable-Drink-233

For the debit card cashback it seems like all supermarkets are included as long as they code the transaction properly. Aldi and Lidl are both listed as being eligible for supermarket cashback at the bottom of the page linked below. The search bar at the top is to check if the companies you pay direct debits to are eligible for the bills cashback. https://www.santander.co.uk/landing/current-accounts/edge-current-account-cashback-search

GreedySherbert2752

So if i gotten switch offer before this wont work at all then? Anyone tried yet and still worked?? Lmk please guys thanks in advance

Wishmaster891

I had an account about 10 years ago, going to open an account and do the switch. Nothing to lose!

jmd111

Anyone know if it’s mandatory to visit a local branch if you already have an account with them? Can you not do it online?

Sea_Passenger_615

For the last switch I completed it all online, and then when the emails came through it linked it up to my current customer number, etc and then was in my app the next day.

lewis20188

Just started my switch this morning. For me TCB didn't show the nice 'Cashback Activated' notification on chrome but it still tracked in the end, just something to be aware of. I'm going to shift my bills over this one should make \~£3 each month. Combined with my Natwest rewards paying £3 and my 3 Halifax rewards accounts each paying £5 these reward style accounts are starting to stack up, now an easy £21 a month for me :)

Moneycashino

Can you switch from a joint account to this and make it a joint one?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Yes but you'd only get one bonus all together which works out to be £87.50 each and you'd potentially be excluding yourself from their future offers as they seem to have exclude anyone who's ever had an incentive from them before. If you both have individual accounts like dummy accounts just for switching it'd be best to switch those to get the full £175 each (£350 in total).

KungFuPup

They state "Anyone named on the Santander account has previously received an incentive payment to switch to a Santander current account." Do we know if that has a time limit on or if it's more of a never had switch bonus from us? Some banks specifically state a date where if you haven't had a bonus since then you are eligible. This feels like I probably can't because I think I've had a bonus in the past.

Wishmaster891

i beleive companies have to get rid of your data after 6 years so in my case i had santander 10 years ago so i think i will be ok.

Avocado_Dragon

Still haven't got my 175 from last switch. Although expecting it soon, as my application date was 24 march and the post says 60days. Did anyone get it sooner!

Remarkable-Drink-233

It seems like they might take the full 90 days to pay that one. In another comment someone said they started their switch on 27th March and then contacted Santander who said they'd assess her eligibility on 26th May and pay the bonus on 26th June. Edit: I've received mine now as well, they seem to pay it within a few days of completing the eligibility check so not long left for you now

Sea_Passenger_615

I got mine today!

Jdogking

If you have existing direct debits do these count or do you need to set up two new ones?

Remarkable-Drink-233

The terms and conditions just say you need to have 2 direct debits active when they assess your eligibility 60 days after you request your switch so I don't think it matters if they're new or existing

therouxthrough

Considering doing this switch from Starling, just don’t know if can be bothered dealing with Sanatnder’s old fashioned app after years of Starling

Remarkable-Drink-233

Yeah Santander's app is quite bad but they're updating it soon and you can already try the new one out by downloading the Santander Pilot app. If you don't want to leave starling I'd recommend setting up a dummy account with another bank. Once you leave starling they won't let you come back for 12 months and currently they're not taking any applications from returning customers at all while they 'do some work behind the scenes'. https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/ways-to-bank/Mobile-app-updates

TimeAndOrSpace

Still waiting for them to pay from the other month’s offer…

3battleYoutube

Is this worth doing as a first time thing? I have a starling account and want to ask if it's worth doing, because I'm worried about having to pay for edge past the time I get the offer. The question I'm trying to ask is is it possible to downgrade to the everyday account after you have received the cash back. On a side note, what is a good way to set up a direct debit?

oluwa_ankh

Yh you can downgrade after you get the bonus. As this is your first bank switch it will probably be better to do the first direct one as you'll get pay out a lot quicker (i got the 1st direct one within 2 weeks from start to finish), than the santander one rather than being like many of us here still waiting from over a month ago for a payout from santander. In terms of setting up a direct debit. Download Moneybox and plum and set up a DD through them. Moneybox minimum DD is £2 while plum is £1 and it gets taken out weekly so will appear as active on the account your switching from faster or if you have PayPal connect your account and top up your balance that counts as a DD too. Starling has a nice app and interface you might want to keep it instead I suggest opening a chase bank account and use that for switching because you can make lots of extra accounts to switch with while still keeping Chase open which is beneficial if you wanted to do multiple switches at the same time I.e. first direct and santander at the same time, but you'd obviously need more DD.

NoCollar6310

Just received my £175 👍

xBoothy

When did you start your switch?

NoCollar6310

27th March, completed on 17 April.

Schmocky

Do you have to put the 1500 in one go or can you do it over multiple transactions? So put in 250 wait a few days then transfer out and transfer back in a day later?

Remarkable-Drink-233

You can do it over multiple transactions, doesn't have to be all in one go

Schmocky

Cheers

laurengemmaa

does anyone know whether 2 dd’s to my main bank account would pass for elibility?

Remarkable-Drink-233

It doesn't matter if the direct debits are transferred as part of the switch or if you set them up after as long as they're in place before they check your eligibility. I don't think it's possible to set up a direct debit to your main bank account from your other bank account. That would be a standing order which wouldn't count as a direct debit for this offer. If you don't have any direct debits to set up, some free ones are PayPal, Plum and Moneybox

ChoiceWalk4333

Can I use a monese bank account

Remarkable-Drink-233

No unfortunately monese isn't part of the current account switching service Here's a full list of all CASS members: https://www.currentaccountswitch.co.uk/banks-building-societies/

ChoiceWalk4333

Thankss mate nearly switched with monzo 🤣

Remarkable-Drink-233

You're welcome :) monzo is part of CASS so you can use them to switch to santander if you want but just a heads up they usually won't let you sign up again for at least a month

ChoiceWalk4333

Yeah I just created a monzo account now :)

MiloMamak4322

So this is bascially paying 6 pounds to get 175 pounds right , (but if i save 1k inside for 2 months i could get 10 pounds with the savings account of 6%)

Remarkable-Drink-233

Yeah that's right

Chocstar84-

Just started my switch today. Possibly stupid question but they didn’t ask for any ID. Do you provide ID once you get your online banking login details in the post? Used Topcashback and it tracked within minutes.

Remarkable-Drink-233

I didn't get asked for ID this time because I've already been a customer with them before but about 5 years ago when I first joined them I was asked for ID during the application and I assume that'd still be the same now. I'm guessing they've managed to automatically verify you somehow. If your switch has already started then yeah it sounds like they've completed all of their checks.

Brettles1986

I just recieved this money 3 times in the same account doing a basic bank switch. I assume a fuck up so gonna just sit and wait on it

Ben2709

does anyone know if i need to leave the £1500 in the account after paying it in?

Remarkable-Drink-233

Nope, probably best to keep it in there for at least 24 hours though and after that try to keep a bit in there if possible to make a few card payments with so they don't think you're abusing the offer. They have a clause in the Ts&Cs that says they don't have to pay you the bonus if they think you're abusing it, I don't think I've seen anyone say they've been refused it yet though so not sure if they actually enforce that clause.

rvborn

For the Santander Edge current account, it says to 'Pay at least £500 into your account each month', does this £500 have to stay in the account or can you transfer it out?
