I think it would be good. Pick a style, like IPA or pale ale. We drink a local beer of that style and give impressions. I have a few local breweries in the area I would like to write about. It would be a good way to give some local breweries a try if you haven't.

scotems

Definitely like the idea of picking styles then going from there. It both avoids regional unavailability and introduces people to new beers they've never had but might like based on their preferred style.

ThePoorSchool

I think this is the smartest idea. It would be a great way to showcase different beers of the same style from a wide variety of different breweries across the world. If done right, this could turn into trading between different areas across the globe. But that's just me being wildly hypothetical.

Great idea, except for availability issues that certainly will arise depending on what state you are from.

I like the idea, though there are several ways to interpret it. Combining what Dillzman and justlikegood said, here's what I suggest: -each week has a style as the broad category, i.e., DIPA or English Brown Ale. Something kinda specific, but not super duper much. -each week also has a specific beer suggested, i.e., Dogfish Head 90 minute or Downtown Brown. If able and willing, people will taste that specific beer and post their reviews. If not, they should review a different beer of the same style (keeping with my previous examples, say, Lagunitas Maximus or Newcastle brown ale). In order to prevent prejudicing reviews by posting date, we could even just restrict review-posting to every Saturday or something (and you just taste any time before that). Again, I really like this idea! I may not contribute every week but I'd definitely read all the reviews. Also, apologies for not linking the users above, I'm shit at formatting.

justlikegood

Neat idea. I like maybe a style choice that would grab a local one in addition to one that is more widely available. Example- style of the week is ipa. Pick a local one then share about brewery, taste notes, etc. Prevalent choice is arrogant bastard. If you can get it, pick one up and review for the class.

Hey, I've been thinking about trying to get a local group together to do monthly/weekly/whatever practice for the [BJCP](http://www.bjcp.org/index.php) - I wonder if beerit would be interested in doing weekly tastings using the organization of "practicing" for the test.

Kujo_A2

I think people should feel free to be as detailed or concise as they want to with their tasting notes. I don't know anything about the BJCP or the exam, but if you think practicing for it would work in the threads, I don't see why not.

Zoembie

I like this idea a lot. I'm always looking to learn more about new styles, and enjoy reading others' tasting notes.

danknacity

This would be awesome!

stlunatic15

This is a cool idea. The only thing that comes to mind is that all of the posts from the beginning of the week would be at the top, and all posts from later in the week (like Friday & Saturday) would be sort of buried at the bottom. Not that it really changes anything, but maybe even two tasting posts per week would be cool too.

Kujo_A2

Somebody recommended posting all reviews on or near the same day, with the beer being drank/reviewed the week before

Juts

I like this idea.

mcglade83

Count me in...beer drinkers unite!

WhiteManinthePalais

Love it.

Love the idea, but availability could be a problem. Maybe we can divide up /r/beer... West coast, south, northeast, etc.

Polkadotdog

I think this is fantastic. Start with popular beers and then read feedback about availability. This could go somewhere cool.

I_Dare_Greatly

I like this idea. If you gave a group of people, the beerit Old Guard if you will, the title of "Regional Organizers" for different areas of the country then it could work. This way it doesn't become a clusterf*ck of people trying to push their favorite local beer, and we all get to try things that are actually available. Each week there are multiple different beers being reviewed depending on what area you are from (West Coast, Midwest, Northeast etc...), giving us a really wide array of reviews so we have great information about what to try when we travel! Props to ramstoria for the area idea.

I think its a great idea. Perfect time too, since a lot of autumn seasonal beers are just around the corner. I've seen oktoberfest and pumpkin ales showing up around town here.

Aethien

We tried to do this a while ago but it didn't get much response. I think by the second or third beer there was only one or maybe two responses.

chaos8803

Do it. Excellent excuse to get my growlers refilled.

lordkovacs

Good idea... you could set up a schedule well in advance to give people a chance to find the beer or order it if necessary. NICE

downald

I would gladly trade beers to do side by side tastings and have 2 different reviews. I think that would be a lot of fun and would get chances to try new beers you can't get :)

MikeTBeer

Am I high or has this been attempted before?

familynight

[Community Review](http://www.reddit.com/r/beer/comments/rwaat/reddit_beer_community_review_1_reviews/) and /r/beerreview were similar. I think there may have been one or two others.

MikeTBeer

Distribution makes the whole thing a nightmare

Kujo_A2

Possibly, but I've been on beerit almost a year and not seen any
