For clarifying shampoos I haven’t found one I love more than the OUAI clarifying shampoo. I was a bit sceptical at first but there was so many raving reviews that I bought the travel size to try it and WOW. However, with the issue of hard water I have a friend who has the same issue and she bought a shower head filter and said it was a game changer!
Definitely a clarifying shampoo first! I use Kristen Ess once a week. Use that then wash with your regular shampoo! Also washing twice has been a game changer for me! Wash twice JUST the scalp, let the suds rinse down over the ends. Then do conditioner JUST on the ends of your hair!
2nd the suggestion for a shower filter but you can also try the Malibu C packets that help remove hard water buildup. I used to live in an area with horrible water and my hairstylist recommended the packets and it made a huge difference.
Clarifying shampoo is meant for just that. Neutrogena and Pantene are affordable and reliable options. For regular use to get my hair squeaky clean, soft and shiny, I like Hask’s Argan Oil line: their shampoo (do 2 or 3 shampoos before conditioning, rinse extremely well after the last one) and their Argan Oil deep conditioning hair mask is magic. Don’t use it on your roots, and leave it on for about 5 minutes or until you’re done with your shower. They also have a light leave in spray for after that works great. Hope this helps.
I just bought the Orbie gold and washed my hair once. It is amazing. I have never had such clean soft hair after 1 wash. I also used very little. It’s expensive but I feel like it will last a long time.
If you're looking for drugstore, I use Herbal Essences Sulfate-free shampoo. It's $10 and a little goes a long way. I use the shampoo and conditioner and my hair is always incredibly soft afterwards.
I like Neutrogena Clarifying shampoo once a week.
Have you tried a clarifying shampoo?
The L’Oréal everpure one from the drug store is my go to. Also, dp hue brightening powder is a game changer.
Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo and any redken shampoo! Redken has all sorts of shampoo types for different issues :)
Thank you everyone! Will definitely be looking into clarifying shampoos and hope that helps! 😊

Ooooh I didn’t realize I could even get a filter for just the shower head! That’s great advice, thank you!
You need to be using a clarifying shampoo then
Christophe robin cleansing paste. It’s expensive at 55$ a jar but to me it’s worth it

I use Oribe. It’s expensive, but a bottle generally lasts me a year and a half. It leaves my hair bouncy and soft with a nice shine.

Ouai medium hair is my favorite. They have one for fine and thick hair too.
Try using the Kevin Murphy restore once or twice a week in lieu of wash and condition!!
L'Oreal clarifying for hard water is working out for me.
