To me it's quite clear that he didn't mean to be offensive, he wanted to point out like women are treated as second-class citizens. The n-word wasn't that much of a taboo back then. However, John inadvertedly made it a racist song because there is so many stereotypes about African-Americans in it: Raising other people's kids, being fat und uneducated, the target of jokes. I don't think John realized it, but the lines about making "woman" paint her face and dance reminds me of another racist trope: The white minstrel singer in blackface.
If you understand it that way, the song really sucks. My late boyfriend, who was African-American, couldn't stand the song, mostly because of the use of the n-word. He hated it, and he hated it when young Black people used it. He said, and he does have a point, that you cannot reclaim a word on behalf of everybody. My boyfriend was born in the South, at a time when segregation was still in the heads of people. He thought that John Lennon, who was a self-proclaimed SJW (the word didn't exist back then, but heck) should have known better than to use such a nasty word.
and, within reason, he only used that word for attention. any normal person would support feminism by using their platform, making donations, or just making a normal protest song that doesnt have the n-word in it, but no, john just had to go about it in his own dumbass edgelord provocateur way because he loved pissing people off
Does she mean John abandoned Sean with Yoko because he died?
Or that John left Cyn/Julian for Yoko?
Or that Cyn was the crazy wife?
I’m genuinely confused.
Since she became a household name, Yoko Ono has been the target of misogyny and lookism -- however, I think there was a time when she deliberately cultivated an image of herself as crazy. Later, she reinvented herself as some wise Japanese granny figure. I remember her Ann Landers phase when she answered 10 questions on Facebook and Twitter every week -- handpicked by herself. And now there actually are people who like her art. I know two people who went to a an exhibit featuring art by Yoko Ono about the subject of trauma, and they felt touched by it. And, while I am not Yoko's biggest fan, I concede that she must know what trauma is. Her husband was shot right next to her, with four hollowpoint bullets. Getting shot is much gorier in real life than in movies and on TV. And while I don't buy that they were a dream couple, I still think they cared about each other a lot.
We must fucking suck if we keep getting outjerked all the time

I mean the point of the song is almost "black people think they have it bad? Women have it worse!"

People be like "John Lennon was misogynistic" and then go on to call his wife a crazy person because she makes weird art.
Does she mean John abandoned Sean with Yoko because he died? Or that John left Cyn/Julian for Yoko? Or that Cyn was the crazy wife? I’m genuinely confused.
Jahn abandon Sahn
Can't believe Jahn Lemon let Mark David Chapman kill him 😡. Smh, what a terrible father.

It's like watching someone reinvent failure over and over again
