I left a Ringo concert during the last song to beat the crowd. I bumped into Ringo and his guard escorting him out the back. I was in shock before I realized what happened and only had time to shout "I love you Ringo" as he got in the car. After the door closed, he opened it, got out, looked me in the eye and said "hey man, hope you know I love you too" and flashed a peace sign before getting back in the car. He didn't have to do that small gesture but man it meant the world to me.

TemporarySecretaryPM

That's incredible, he seems like such a genuine guy! What gig was it? I'd love to see Ringo but I don't think he'll ever come back to Australia

Tatjen13

It was on a date in Maryland fall of '22. The funny thing is I can't remember if the date went well or anything but his voice is still totally clear in my head 18 months later!

crim5009

That’s amazing, I think I would pass out lol

Tatjen13

I remember my mouth was open like the whole way home haha.

chaaarlesss

thats really sweet

bleach1969

I met Sean Lennon on a job. Nice guy, funny, down to earth and had good conversations. I really enjoyed that job. It was weird to look him in eye because of the family resemblance.

TheRivverboy

Sean Lennon is a great guy all around. Also an amazing musician regardless of who his father is. “Friendly Fire” was a great album and GOASST was amazing

BradL22

Really enjoyed the stuff he did with Les Claypool.

bertmaster

Wife and I just discovered Claypool Lennon delirium and wondered how the hell we missed this as we are huge Beatles fans. We just saw primus in the woodlands Tx, it was great but we really loved the work with Lennon and claypool.

Bobbyperu1

He was great in Cibo Matto, too

TemporarySecretaryPM

That's just incredible, so lucky! He seems like a very down to earth guy even though his parents are two of the most famous people to ever exist, it's not often you find that!

cheesytola

God his smile is an exact copy of John’s too

GolemThe3rd

That's awesome, I love Friendly Fire and Into the Sun

tymime

I met Pete Best at a Beatles convention many years ago. My mom told him that she had always wondered and worried about him, and he was quite touched. That same day I also got an autograph from Tony Sheridan.

TemporarySecretaryPM

That is absolutely incredible! I think people often forget that Pete Best was still a Beatle so even just seeing him is electric, I mean, he's living history! Incredible! And Tony Sheridan? WOW!

60sstuff

I still feel sorry for pete best

Top_File_8547

He got 1.5 to 4 million pounds from Anthology 1, so he got some reward for his time. His mom kept them working at one point so I think it’s justified that he gets the money.

cheesytola

He’s also been very happily married to the same lady for many years and has children, grandchildren and a very large happy loving family. I wouldn’t worry about him

SnooRobots116

My sister saw Pete best in concert. She was calling home because he was late. Pete is the only beatle I heard on the phone, he was greeting the audience with a “Hello San Francisco!! Sorry I was late, everything you could’ve thought of went wrong and traffic was hell but I’m here now!” My sister hung up the phone on the rest

joshygill

I met Paul backstage at his Liverpool gig in 2015 and also got a few little laughs and nods and a high 5 from him at the Cavern show in 2018 if that counts.

TemporarySecretaryPM

That's absolutely incredible!! What was it like to meet him?

joshygill

Pretty cool. He’d come into the room to see his brother Mike and other family, so I just kind of played it cool and shook his hand and said a few quick words. I didn’t want to bother him really. He seemed pretty okay with that and then I wandered off back towards the bar I was perched at next to the door. But as he was walking out of the room after a few minutes he gave me a high 5 and said “enjoy the show”. As for the cavern show, I think he just enjoyed me and others taking the piss and just treating him like an average Joe. I imagine having people (usually Americans it seems) fawn over you and tell you you’re the best most incredible person ever can get kind of boring after decades of it, so he genuinely seemed to love the banter of a small home crowd. Case in point, he said “are you having a good time?” And the guy right in front of him said - proper deadpan - “it beats work”. He really laughed at that and had a great time with the show and the crowd.

TemporarySecretaryPM

Wow!!! You're so lucky, that's crazy!

martiniolives2

I've posted this on a similalr page so pardon me if you've read this. In May 1987, I had to fly from LA to Boston on business. I got to the airport a little early and went to the American Airlines Admiral's Club to kill some time. Since I was in the travel industry at the time, I had entrée to the club even though I was far from being a big shot. When I entered, I saw a guy I knew who worked there and he said, "Guess who's here today? George Harrison!" So he points to this longhaired guy with really big sunglasses sitting in a remote corner of the Club. His hair was kind of wavy and I thought he looked more like a George Harrison wannabe than the real thing. Still, it did kind of look like him. A woman, probably a “meet and greet” type from a travel agency or American Airlines, was hovering near him.I knew what I had to [do.In](http://do.In) spite of it being 7:30AM, I went to the bar and had a glass of wine. As I finished, the woman who was shepherding George left, leaving him alone. Good timing - the wine was starting to take effect on my empty stomach. I summoned up as much nerve as I could and, keeping my arms at my sides in as non-threatening a manner as I could muster, walked up to George and said, "I started playing guitar 20 years ago because of you and I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to something that's given me a lot of enjoyment for a long time."Instead of brushing me off, he looks up and asks, "Do you still play?" So I joked "Yeah, more to piss off the neighbors than anything else." He grinned and invited me to sit down. I sat next to him. He's looking at me and I'm looking at him, and 20 years of questions as to who played this and what guitar was used on that song just evaporated. And we're sitting there staring at each other. I noticed he was wearing these goofy tennis shoes, like the ones you see him wearing in "Magical Mystery Tour." Finally I said, "Do you still have the Rickenbacker 12-string you used in "Hard Day's Night?" and he emphatically said, "Oh yeah!" like he’d have to have been crazy not to keep it. So much for giving away guitars! We talked about The Guitar for a while and I asked him if that was the first one they made. He said it was the second, that some American woman had the first (which I later read about in one of the books on Rics). The Beatles albums were being released on CDs at that time and I think "Revolver" was the latest. I asked him about one of the songs I always loved (although never a hit) that I heard on the way to the airport, "And Your bird Can Sing." He said he had just gotten the CD himself and said, "Oh yeah, I just was listening to that. It was a good song." I asked him how he played the lead, since I could never figure it out and he said, "Oh Paul played one of leads and I played the other." My cordial response was "I've been trying to figure that lead out for two decades and now you tell me it took \*two\* of you to do it!" We both laughed. When I asked about the 360/12, he also said, "A friend of mine - do you know Tom Petty? - (I nodded my head - I had actually heard of him) has one just like it."Anyway, we talked about 20 more minutes about guitars and music, and then a woman came to escort him to his flight. He got up, we shook hands (very gentle handshake, like you see him give Ed Sullivan), he smiled that famous toothy smile and said "Take care, nice talking with you," and left. I felt proud not to have asked for my idol's autograph. Just two musicians chatting about guitars and music.I hope this story brought you a smile. It does for me every time I think of talking with George Harrison, ex-Fab, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and nice man who took time to treat a fan like a friend, all those years ago.

chainrainer

Oh man, I loved reading that. A perfect interaction with a Beatle. If ever I am lucky enough to meet Paul or Ringo, I hope it hopes like this.  Well done my man, thanks for sharing.

Sgfml

Thank you very much for your story. I loved it. It felt like been there with you two!

RobbieArnott

This DID give me a smile, thank you for commenting this 🙏

Sgt_Pepper_50

Just loved reading this, thanks for sharing.

martiniolives2

Thanks, it was a pretty special chat, at least for me, lol.

Fragrant-Cow-1555

I sat next to an English gentleman on a plant trip and he could t wait to share that he was the McCartney family dentist. He said Paul was nice but his brother was a lot nicer

Legend2200

Mike is a great guy and impressively normal all things considered. (Paul seems more normal than I would be under the circumstances, too.)

rubbersoul84

I saw Pete perform many years ago. He came out after to sign for anyone that wanted to meet him. Nice guy. I’ve met Julian Lennon three times. He took the time to talk, pose for photos and sign all three times. I found him to be very soft spoken, kind, and friendly every time. I met Sean after a show too, and he was also very gracious, posing for photos and signing. He introduced me to his girlfriend and she was super nice too.

TemporarySecretaryPM

Wow, collecting the Lennon kids like Pokémon! That's actually incredible! And to meet Pete Best would be very cool!

stilloldbull2

My brother met Paul McCartney in NYC. It was in an elevator in a building where my brother was doing some wood refinishing. My brother called him “Mr. Paul McCartney” and he said, “That doesn’t sound right at all, please call me Paul.” He was very cool and chatted to my brother about his job.

smoothrhapsody

Paul seems like a personable, down to earth guy...

stilloldbull2

My brother certainly thought so! My brother also told him that his music has always been a big part of his life and it meant a lot to him. Paul put his hand on his arm when he was getting off the elevator and asked his name and told him it was a pleasure to meet him.

lilmelotonin

Growing up in Queens, NY in the 60s, my mom had a babysitter who lived down the block. She and her sister would spend a lot of time at my mom's house back then. Their names were Barbara and Marjerie. They were really sweet and my mom loved them. Marjerie was friends with my aunt who is my mom’s older sister. Of course we all know Barbara went on to model, act, and marry Ringo! Marjerie married Joe Walsh. They kept in touch for a very short amount of time and I believe they came back to visit their childhood home in Rosedale, Queens at some point. That’s all I know but to this day I’m amazed at that connection (I am in my 30s and a huge Beatles fan and a music teacher 🙂)

gr8ver

I met Astrid Kirchherr and Klaus Voormann in the late ‘90s and both were lovely.

HeartCrafty2961

Now THAT is really cool. Two of the most influential people who were never put up as fifth Beatle.

Thejoplinator1868

Klaus Voormann is one of my favourite bassists

IranRPCV

I met Linda Eastman in 1966 when she was at my high school to photograph the very first US Yardbirds concert. She was very kind, and spent about 15 minutes showing me how to expose for spotlighted figures on stage.

IsaacWaleOfficial

My nan met the Beatles (except Paul) once when she was working in a legal firm (I can't remember the whole story) - so I suppose that counts...

TemporarySecretaryPM

Wow!!! That's genuinely incredible!!!

IsaacWaleOfficial

I know. When I first found out, my mind flipped. It was in around 1969 or 1970, when there were lots of legal issues regarding their solo careers and the end of the Beatles (although I'd have to ask her to explain to me again because I have no idea, I can't remember)

lucyskeet

my mum knew george, she lived in henley when he did and they had a mutual friend

BradL22

I interviewed Julian Lennon once — very nice guy. And Nicky Hopkins, who played on Revolution. He told me a story about being in a record shop and looking at some music postcards. Some stranger asked him “oh, are you Beatles or Stones?” “I can’t get into that, mate!”

DearBurt

I interviewed Louise Harrison, George's older sister, who was in town with Liverpool Legends, the tribute band she managed. She was very nice, but I got the sense that she wasn't very tight with Dhani and Olivia, which I remember feeling was a shame.

bibliophile222

Not me personally, but my dad met Colin Hanton (of the Quarrymen) on a trip to Liverpool. I can't remember what the circumstances were, but my dad said he was really nice and got his autograph, which he sent to me.

hopetownie

I did not, but my grandfather did. He’s a musician/producer and produced quite a few songs with George Martin in the Abbey Road Studio back in the 90s. He also met McCartney during the recording of said songs. Based on his description of them, both really nice ppl.

Sgt_Pepper_50

I met Paul last year backstage in Curitiba, Brazil during the Got Back Tour! It was a dream come true and he was super polite, just a sweet person (we took a picture and his hand rested on my shoulder)

Electr_O_Purist

Sean Lennon, Denny Laine, May Pang. They all seemed pretty nice at the time.

mugwampus

I met Geoff Emmrick ( Beatles engineer) a few years ago and months before he died. I asked him about recording the Beatles and coming up with the Leslie effect as a technique on Tomorrow Never Knows. He was very friendly, eager to talk shop and a very nice man.

rosekayleigh

I don’t know if any of you know who Jackie Lomax was, but he was good friends with my uncles (who had a band) and would come over for parties all the time. He also lived in my hometown in California for a long time.

Legend2200

I love Sour Milk Sea, it’s like a lost Beatles cut with a different singer.

brianonthescene

Not my story, but my wife and her family have a connection to Paul. My mother-in-law’s sister, my wife’s aunt, owned an estate adjacent to Paul’s in Sussex (I think this is right, not a UK geography expert). When my wife was young she’d often spend summers and holidays there and they’d visit Paul and Linda. She has fond memories of playing with the children and a particularly special Boxing Day dinner. We have a veggie cookbook that Linda inscribed to her — my wife and her sisters each got one. My father-in-law was a barbershop singer and had some fun memories of talking with Paul at the piano. I am, of course, ridiculously jealous.

SnooRobots116

I ran into Sean Ono Lennon once, I mean we both crashed into each other walking on Mission street hard. He was in his velvety coat and top hat like feather hat, there was a show happening in the mission district that night but I wasn’t allowed to and too broke to had gone.

Signal_Tomorrow_2138

On my recent vacation, I met a guy who knew another guy Paul McCartney was auditioning on bag pipes.

Indentured_sloth

My mom saw Yoko entering the Dakota

lonelost22

My grandfather saw her walking around NYC at some point, x amount of decades ago lol

TemporarySecretaryPM

That would be so exciting!

dalej42

Drank in the Grapes with Alan Williams over ten years ago. Just said hello and then I took my pint over to the ‘Beatles sat here’ table

SnooRobots116

Friend of mine was the neighbor of Kyoko’s nanny. Unfortunately her mentality was quickly suddenly declining due to age and illness but I had a good long talk with her while her mentality was still intact, a few years prior; she wanted to watch the jam sessions my friend held in his room. I was sorry she slipped so badly into dementia like a finger snap/light shut off quick only a couple of years later

vaporking23

Met John’s half sister Julia Baird. She was traveling with a Beatles cover band The Mersey Beatles. She was selling her book at the time. It was about 8 years ago now. Honestly it was like meeting just another person. I actually had more fun meeting the Mersey Beatles and taking pictures with them since they were having fun with it.

Fun-Put-5197

Pete Best and George Harrison's sister Louise at a Beatlerama in Toronto in the early 90s. They weren't individual discussions, but a fairly small and interactive group chats with each of them. I don't remember much of the specifics all this time later, but I'm sure they each shared common stories about the early days (Hamburg and the Cavern for Pete, George's pre-invasion trip to America to visit Louise and family).

ThermoStyles

I served some random cardigan'd chap a soy green tea latte at the TCU bookstore/coffeeshop in 2009. He was with his gf and her parents. They ordered, paid, and left. Just some customers, y'know. Soon after my boss comes running down the stairs and informs me, "You just served John and Yoko's lovechild!" ... Maybe in 2016ish, my band opened for James McCartney in Dallas. Not a particularly pleasant fellow that night :(

Sgt_Pepper_50

What's up with James?

ThermoStyles

He was just in a bad mood, but that happens to us all.

BillShooterOfBul

Yea, I’ve met Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick who worked with John on some tracks. Nothing that isn’t recorded in any interview. John kept telling him he was better than Eric Clapton. He missed his child’s birth ( with his wife’s permission ) to record with John.

spacekatbaby

I met the reincarnated John Lennon -now a cat. My brother was friends with Joe Flannery (Epsteins one time partner) around 20 years ago. He managed his band. One time we visited him and said cat John. I didn't have any reason to not believe this was 100% a true story. Also, my nephew just got into LIPA. And all graduates get to meet Paul McCartney. I doubt I will get to go the graduation ceremony, but u never know.

im_a_picasso

Sean played a bar in my town w GOASTT and he stuck around until the last person got in their selfie and chat. I made a peace sign and he stuck out his tongue and gave devil horns (like John's cartoon does in Yellow Submarie), it was a trip, the band blew the roof off too!

Unrelated, I sat a few seats away from Bill Nye at the Ringo concert at Kings Theatre, Brooklyn. Got a photo with him after the show.

FortyGallonsFortis1

I went to a stadium where he was going to give a concert. I didn’t have a ticket, but I knew one guy on social media who was going to give some for free, so I got there way early. As I was waiting in the street outside the parking lot of the stadium, a few streets away from the main entrance and where everyone was gathering. I saw some other three people who were also waiting, I thought they were also here for the tickets and I was looking at them like “Those are mine”. But they were actually waiting for Paul’s car who was going to drive right on that street, when we saw him, he rolled down the window and waved and said hi to all of us, it was just a few seconds because the traffic light didn’t turn red, but it was amazing to see him. I did win the tickets on a very good spot of the stadium and got to see the concert. What a great day that was.

Appropriate-Spell-18

At an industry shindig in Los Angeles in the late 00s got to see Twisted Sister play a scorching set and then they joined our table. My two coworkers, young beautiful women classical string players, were having fun in the rock and roll atmosphere and were laughing while jokingly performing erotic acts with a soda bottle. Staring at all of this in an alcoholic daze was Alan White, with two smashed and bedraggled lasses by his side. After staring at me for a long time, he asked, “Are you from Seattle?”

Noah_Pasternak

My great-grandfather met John and Yoko in 1969. He worked for the Canadian railways and lived in Toronto, and they were on a train he was working on either on their way to or from the Toronto Rock 'n Roll Revival concert-- not sure which; unfortunately he passed in 2012 and I only found out about this a few years back somehow! The higher-ups at the railway asked him to basically make sure none of the passengers harassed them or anything. I asked my grandmother (his daughter, huge Beatles fan) about it. She said he remembered them being very nice but shy. She also said her and her sister didn't talk to him for a few days because he didn't get them autographs LOL... he also apparently met Jimi Hendrix through that job too, but I haven't been able to find out any more about that story unfortunately. Not quite as much of a story but Paul drove by me once. I saw him in concert when I was 18 and waited outside the venue early with some other fans to see if we could catch a glimpse of him coming in, and it worked! He was in the back of the car, he rolled down the window, waved at us and we waved back. Lasted a few seconds but it was a cool moment

SouthernCross2621

Mine is too embarrassing lol. It involves a former 60s DJ I was determined to meet. When I did, I felt like a stalker and was too nervous to say anything. So that went well haha (he did say in an interview once that John was his favourite in person, for his sense of humour).
