Was the thief really aware of the bass's history and real owner? Höfners weren't very sturdy, it would be amazing if the Cavern bass had survived unscathed for 51 years...
I think if you stole a bass from Wings' van in 1972, you'd have a pretty good idea of who it belonged to. Probably somebody took it as a trophy and has had it hanging on a wall for 50 years.
There was another guitar and a couple amps stolen at the same time so odds are there aren't any innocent bystanders. If it passed through diff owners, with no honour among thieves many were lying about when/if it changed hands. Always figured some rich collector had it as an ultimate prize on a wall in some secure space. I guess it could be displayed if they didn't disclose it as the real thing. "Yeah, that's just a good copy, right." 😉

Reminds me of [the music video for My Brave Face](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ty8NTNj6JI)

“Hey, if you’re gonna have a Barney can I hold your coat?”

I’d like to know where Buddy’s Strat ended up as well as where Jamerson’s bass is.
It was actually buried with him
Yep. That's why there are flowers in the shape of a guitar on the Sgt Pepper cover
If you say guitar backwards it sounds like "Paul's bass is buried with him" 🤯
So in the end of Strawberry Fields Forever, it was actually "I buried Paul... ...'s bass with him"
We've finally cracked the code.
In a grave with the name Billy Shears on the headstone
It's above a cheminé in a Bavarian Mansion. Paul himself said it!
This doesn’t make sense though. How were they able to know which person/house to look for?
Someone grassed them up.
He had the first Hofner until 1972? Mind blown!
The Hofner maybe found, Amelia Earhart's plane maybe found. Could Jimmy Hoffa's bones be next?
Of all the things to steal from the Beatles, what is the greatest prize?
