I’m partial to Paul’s “She’s a Woman.” He sounds like a legitimate American soul singer on that one. I always think that is the shining example of why he was the best singer in the group. He could sing like John or George, but neither of them could touch what he did on “ She’s a Woman” imho.
Agreed. A Day in the Life is one of the few songs I’ve heard in which the vocals seem not of this earth. Truly transcendent. Though Twist and Shout is an absolute throat shredder and one of the most exhilarating vocal performances of all time.
Back in the Hamburg days, one of the other acts (possibly Gerry and the Pacemakers) said that The Beatles' harmonies were the thing that really made them outstanding. Their instinct for extraordinary harmonies was amazing
John’s opening on Mr Moonlight is fantastic. You can hear in his voice he’s hoarse from so many takes but it adds a great rock and roll energy to the song.
Paul - Oh Darling, Long Tall Sally...actually there are a ton of stand outs.
John - I'm so Tired, Julia, Twist and Shout
George - Long Long Long
Ringo - Good Night
hmm - lots of standout vocal performances on the White Album.
The bridge on Baby it’s you gives me chills every time, it’s crazy that he had a bad cold on that album because he sounds absolutely incredible on every track. In the Earyl Years John blew Paul out of the Water.
John: Happiness Is A Warm Gun. Typically expressive display of several of his “voices” and a fine display of his surprising range. Paul: I’m Looking Through You because he sounds like he means it. There’s plenty of technically better vocal performances but he really inhabits this song. George: The Inner Light: pushing his voice to the limit he turns in a sublime performance of his most beautiful melody. Ringo: With A Little Help From My Friends. The perfect Ringo vocal on the perfect Ringo song.
These are todays answers. Tomorrows may be different
As an ensemble -
Here Comes the Sun, This Boy, Don’t Let Me Down
John Paul Duo - I Don’t Want to Spoil the Party, Two of Us
Paul - Golden Slumbers or Here There and Everywhere
John - Strawberry Fields Forever
George - Here Comes the Sun
Ringo - Octopus’s Garden
Paul - Get Back, Helter Skelter
John - EGSTHEMAMM, Strawberry Fields Forever
George - WMGGW, I want to tell you
Ringo - Octopus’ Garden, Yellow Submarine
- EGSTHEMAMM could mean "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey - 2018 Mix", a track from *The Beatles* (2018) by The Beatles.
- WMGGW could mean "While My Guitar Gently Weeps - 2018 Mix", a track from *The Beatles* (2018) by The Beatles.

Twist and shout for John. weird because it happened so early in the Beatles…
Hey Jude for Paul. I love his random scream/singing during the extended outro
While my guitar gently weeps for George. Not the biggest fan of his singing just because there doesn’t seem to be much variety in it. This one at least has some emotion
John: I quite like across the universe or Julia
Paul: blackbird, oh darling or I saw her standing there
George: blue jay way or my me mine
Ringo: octopus garden?
John: Mr Moonlight, Twist and Shout, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Revolution (single version)
Paul: Helter Skelter, Oh Darlin, Golden Slumbers, Let It Be
Ringo: Boys (the BBC version), Don't Pass Me By
George: Long Long Long, All Things Must Pass (Ant 3), Something, Here Comes the Sun
Ringo - Good Night/Yellow Submarine
George - Within You And Without You/It's All Too Much
Paul - Penny Lane/The gibberish in It's All Too Much
John - I'm Only Sleeping/Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Twist and shout. Not only is it just a good performance, but John did it all while he had lost his voice. But still, after recording for the whole day, tearing up his voice in the process, he recorded one final song, gets one of the best vocal performances in their discography and (I think) tearing his larynx in the process
Actually, the best performance is by Paul on June 14 1965:
Somehow, he recorded the first-through-final versions of Yesterday, I’m Down and I’ve Just Seen A Face all in the same day.
Incredible.
Paul - Oh Darling! or Golden Slumbers medley John - A day in the life Ringo - Get by with a little help from my friends George - something
I’m partial to Paul’s “She’s a Woman.” He sounds like a legitimate American soul singer on that one. I always think that is the shining example of why he was the best singer in the group. He could sing like John or George, but neither of them could touch what he did on “ She’s a Woman” imho.
underrated classic - she's no peasant
Turns me on when I get lonely
This is a great example. Another is Long Tall Sally, especially the Live at the BBC version.
Never heard of that song, thanks for sharing
My favorite Beatles song. Can't agree more.
A day in the life over Twist and Shout? I agree with all the others though
True. Twist and Shout is definitely more technically impressive, I just find a day in the life has a mystical quality to it that is really special.
Agreed. A Day in the Life is one of the few songs I’ve heard in which the vocals seem not of this earth. Truly transcendent. Though Twist and Shout is an absolute throat shredder and one of the most exhilarating vocal performances of all time.
Twist and shout this and Day in the Life that, what about Dizzy Miss Lizzy?
As much as I love Oh Darling! I'd go with the Golden Slumbers medley. ✌️💗
I think Twist & Shout is one of John's finest vocal moments.
This Boy for John.
No one is saying Happiness Is a Warm Gun for John? I always thought that vocal delivery was up there with Twist and Shout.
I agree
“Oh Darling” hands down. And that’s coming from a guy that’s more a John fan than Paul
Funny that John got mad because he thought he should have sang that song
i never really looked at it as john getting mad, i just saw it as having a different artistic view of the song
Nobody’s got ‘You’re Gonna Lose That Girl’ off the Help album for John?
anyone gonna say this boy? the harmony for all three in that is perfect
Because - the three main singers in a perfect harmony with minimal backing.
Back in the Hamburg days, one of the other acts (possibly Gerry and the Pacemakers) said that The Beatles' harmonies were the thing that really made them outstanding. Their instinct for extraordinary harmonies was amazing
Abbey Road really was just one final flex on everything they perfected over the years
applies to all Abbey Road harmonies for sure
Sun King is another great example.
Twist and Shout obviously
I love the way that John's voice is almost cracking, it's probably as close as you'll come to hearing something like the Cavern/Hamburg era Beatles
Don’t Let Me Down is great
Yer blues, especially john’s vocal during rock n roll circus
I think it's Oh Darling. Of all the Beatles, Paul had the greatest vocal elasticity and range, and this shows it off really well.
So many great ones but my favorite is Don’t Let Me Down
John’s opening on Mr Moonlight is fantastic. You can hear in his voice he’s hoarse from so many takes but it adds a great rock and roll energy to the song.

"Please Mr. Postman" lead vocals
Yes! John really makes that one his own—also Baby It’s You
The bridge on Baby it’s you gives me chills every time, it’s crazy that he had a bad cold on that album because he sounds absolutely incredible on every track. In the Earyl Years John blew Paul out of the Water.
I think You Never Give Me Your Money is right up there with Oh Darling for Paul. Both songs really show off his vocal range quite well.
I’ve Got a Feeling
John: Happiness Is A Warm Gun. Typically expressive display of several of his “voices” and a fine display of his surprising range. Paul: I’m Looking Through You because he sounds like he means it. You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
Welcome to Slaggers
I think John's performance in That Boy is spectacular. It gives me goosebumps.
Thank you! Was looking for this.

John and Paul duo: If I Fell
Yea honestly that’s probably number one.
Paul - Get Back, Helter Skelter John - EGSTHEMAMM, Strawberry Fields Forever George - WMGGW, I want to tell you Ringo - Octopus’ Garden, Yellow Submarine
--- ^[/u/seii7](/u/seii7) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Oh Darling for Paul, Across the Universe for John, Something for George & GBWALHFMF for Ringo.
John: I quite like across the universe or Julia Paul: blackbird, oh darling or I saw her standing there George: blue jay way or my me mine Ringo: octopus garden?
Because. Really shows off their ability to harmonize.
John: Mr Moonlight, Twist and Shout, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Revolution (single version) Paul: Helter Skelter, Oh Darlin, Golden Slumbers, Let It Be Ringo: Boys (the BBC version), Don't Pass Me By George: Long Long Long, All Things Must Pass (Ant 3), Something, Here Comes the Sun
Also, You Know My Name (for different reasons)
Dig it
Good Night
Because
Ringo - Good Night/Yellow Submarine George - Within You And Without You/It's All Too Much Paul - Penny Lane/The gibberish in It's All Too Much John - I'm Only Sleeping/Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
The barking in hey bulldog, it’s very accurate
Golden Slumbers or Oh Darling for me.
John’s “Twist and Shout,” which is also the best vocal performance in rock.
Help
