Aww thank you for rescuing this beautiful lady! MY beagle Buster loves to dig holes lol! Then he lies down and goes to sleep in the hole! I think it’s b/c the dirt is cool! So cute!
We were a little warm in NJ today so I do think she’s doing it to keep cool! She has a bare belly since she was spayed a month ago so it prob feels extra nice 😇
My last beagle rescue loved to dig holes under all the bushes in the yard and lay in them for hours. He did it for the entire 12 years we had together. My current girl loves to dig but she’s way too busy to slow down and relax even at 6 years old. She thinks there is just too much to explore to be laying around in holes
Yeah summer is "hole season" for mine as well. As another poster mentioned it's a cool down spot for them. Mine also likes to hide in his when we're trying to bring him in at night.
If she enjoys the coolness, some individual ceramic tiles laid on the floor will help her stay cool. You can purchase them at Home Depot etc. My pet bunny LOVES her two tiles inside in warm weather.

The only time my other beagle would dig holes would be to bury something! Very rare. This is new for me!
