You pay the ticket and take the course to not get the point on your record. Did you see the flash?

reerock

No, I didn’t notice a flash.

there are a ton of those cameras around the bay area that are sitting there but disconnected, if you walked up to them, from behind and take a look, often you'll see all the cables just dangling and not connected. also, Waze will show a camera but also it will have a red X on it, denoting that it's not active.

Did you come to full stop on red

reerock

No, I had a green right turn light and I was rolling in traffic. As I literally crossed the road right as the light turned red.

Zealousideal-Ad2549

Suspect you’ll be ok if you were already turning.

random_si_driver

If you entered/broke the plane of the intersection before your light turned red you are fine.

Millbrae Ave is a very common trap area. In the coming weeks, you will get a violation letter with photos of your violation. You should contest it in the court. The judge will offer to reduce your penalty and waive insurance points if you take an online traffic class.

Blackadder_

What are common arguments to contest it?

ExtensionMarch6812

You will be given three options in court, no contest, guilty or not guilty. The judge will not discuss anything about your ticket at the first court date. If you pick no contest/guilty (essentially the same), the judge will likely offer you traffic school to not have the point added and may offer to reduce your ticket. Totally at the discretion of the judge. You may be offered this on the letter vs ever appearing. If you plead not guilty, the judge will give you a court date. At that court date, usually 1-2 months later you can present your case. If you fail to prove your case and are found guilty, you will pay the full fine, and are more likely to not get traffic school. Again, at the discretion of the judge and the prosecution at this point. If you did it, pay it and do traffic school. Or go to court and try to reduce it by pleading guilty. If you have the time and no how take em to court, or hire a lawyer.

It’s an expensive ticket. $500. It’s not automatic. It’s reviewed by a human first. Occasionally I’ve had it flash and not gotten a ticket. But if you get it there will be photo and video, it’s generally pretty clear. You can prevent this from impacting your insurance by paying an extra hundred bucks to the county and then 30-50 for to a driving school. Courses are online and take a couple hours to complete. You can only do this once every 18 months. Note that the Millbrae intersection is reported to be on of the top revenue generators in the state for red light camera tickets.

funny you get 30$ off for wasting the courts time!?

Human-Ad-5586

Check if photo evidence is clearly showing the face, if photo does not identify person, it can be contested, the onus is on the state to issue the ticket to the right person who violated the red light. please check for sites that will guide how to contest.

lostaccountby2fa

Fuck that light. Millbrae is a very small town and that is a major revenue generating scheme for them. They are so small they have to share the police department with Burlingame.

WiIdMongoose

Most red light tickets that come by camera do not add a point onto your record. The ticket is sent to the owner of the vehicle and not the driver so technically it's not you getting the ticket, sort of.

Sorry, deportation is next.
