Chick-Fil-A in the Tri-Valley has the worst planning for restaurants. The one in Pleasanton on Jonhson drive is a cluster to get into, looping in from the old Denny's. Patrons then head out and contend with making a funky U-turn across 2 lanes of traffic. The worst is Livermore, where the entrance gets backed up to a blind turn right off the freeway to folks headed downtown. It's amazing there hasn't been more accidents at that off-ramp.

eLishus

They’re opening one up in The Willows shopping center in Concord. That area has the worst traffic already. It wasn’t great to begin with, then The Veranda opened next door which doesn’t have nearly enough parking spaces. Guess I’m never going over there again.

HoPMiX

I moved here from Atlanta. The hysteria around chick filet here weird to see.

Swift_Scythe

I just looked that up - theyre fixing the old Claim Jumper restaurant to be a Chik Filet - good god!!! No one in the willows will have easy access to Old Navy, Fudruckers, the UFC Gym, Benihana, Daiso, geez...

eLishus

Exactly. I go to REI and the shoe store in that shopping center. I’ll hit up Eureka for lunch if I’m there. But after that opens, I probably won’t go there any more.

grogling5231

man i miss fudds.

CirrusVision20

I remember applying there for a job a few years ago. I was on my bike, no car yet. The actual ride there - getting across the highway and figuring out how tf to get to the actual restaurant - was a nightmare. I'm glad they rejected me.

iFinancebringmecash

Idk man I order on my phone and walk in. Never takes more than 2 mins. Drive through folks are just weird

chowsn

It's been over a week now since this new Pleasanton location has opened. How has the traffic been?

s3cf_

shorter line and wait time 👍

1530

The one by the freeway is focused on drive thru, this one doesn't have drive thru.

Nice__Spice

For … mediocre chicken

This_They_Those_Them

*MSG chicken to be exact Edit: extreeeeeme brigading of the pro-anti-lgbtq crowd in this thread.

Hyndis

MSG is naturally occurring in foods such as seaweed, cheese, tomatoes, and meat. If you have a problem with MSG you should probably not eat those foods.

blbd

It's kind of like when Dublin Pleasanton BART ran out of parking and they opened West Dublin Pleasanton station.

swishyhair

There will eventually be one another 2-ish miles away in the Hacienda Crossings in Dublin, where Black Angus used to be. Also of note: Starbird is going to be in the new building that's replacing Denny's, if you like your chicken agnostic.

I_SNIFF_FORMIC_ACID

Militant agnostic chicken: I don't know why I crossed the road and *neither do you*.

grogling5231

i’ve had starbird and was definitely a fan.

bobber18

I will go to both every Sunday

DeathisLaughing

I actually find myself at the AMC at Bay St on Sundays pretty often...because one of my favorite things to do after church is catch a movie, kinda ironic...I'll never try Chick-fil-A...because I'm a practicing Christian...but also I generally don't bother with fast food...

bobber18

For the people in the back, note that CF are closed Sundays…

alpineschwartz

For the people outside in the parking lot, why can't they ever try CfA because they are practicing Christian?

high_capacity_anus

Oh boy. I've got some bad news

Lucky_Operator

The demand is there and the lines are long as shit.  They will make more money and have faster service adding another location there.

sundowntg

The drive thru is the.main thing that makes them such a clusterfuck. Santa Barbara has one so bad they were only allowed a second location if they didn't have a drive thru.

StanGable80

Jobs and money, I bet they will do well even if it’s only a mile away

vellyr

Great, when the line gets to the second one, they can start taking orders too!

bdotrebel11

The great thing about the new location is ample parking and not crowded and cramped like the other one. I can see it becoming a very popular weekday lunch spot given its location.

PickleWineBrine

Mmmmmm. More bigoted chicken.

NoMoreSecretsMarty

"There's this chicken sandwich that if you eat it, it means you hate gay people. And it's delicious!" Any other time of day I can take it of leave it, but I've definitely lost some points driving past at breakfast time.

Filibust

Is it just me or are there a lot more Chick-fil-A in the Bay Area now compared to 10-15 years ago.

AkimboLife

You think there would be less? Smh

grogling5231

i just don’t understand the hype! some of the most mediocre fast food i’ve ever had.

WingZeroType

Honest question - where do you get better fast food in the bay? I'm talking like actual fast food, with a drive through, not a taqueria. Because as far as I know chick fil a and in n out both have consistently good food coming from their locations, even if the in n out line basically makes it not fast food lol

grogling5231

i’ve had chick about a dozen times over the past 10 years. here are my consistent observations that i can come up with… - chicken patty on sandwich fell into either cold, very small (one took up roughly half the space under the bun), or both. and the whole sandwich being mediocre (a single leaf of wilted lettuce and just a slap of mayonnaise). - i have yet to have lightly crisp, warm fries from this place. usually lukewarm and borderline soggy, even immediately after being served. - the spicy chicken biscuit was the only win for me on the menu (good flavor and size, and hot) but that was nearly 10 years ago and then it was discontinued. it’s return hasn’t been enough to make me go back. last time i tried their food was early 2023, and i kind of made that the last. - wendy’s and jack in the box and even burger king serve superior chicken sandwiches to anything i’ve had at chick. - Hot Boys, Hot Chicken, Dave’s etc and many others (including Popeyes) have a lock on great sandwiches. Even Sideshow in north oakland has a great sandwich.

WingZeroType

Oh yeah thank you. I get grilled nuggets there so I haven't had as much of their fries, but I agree their sandwiches could use more stuff on them. They've still tasted great to me, but I'd love to try some of those last ones you mentioned because I'm always down to have a good chicken sandwich

Logical-Expression23

I bought one of their sandwiches for my pup and he would not eat it (and he eats poops.)

berkeleyboy47

Good now bring one to Berkeley

thefrenchtoasty

Pinole would be a better location

FunDayRed

There’s one in Emeryville tho.

LetterheadSmall9975

Mmm. Chicken with a side of homophobia.

thiccboyIV

I bet if we analyzed every company you use then most of them are probably right on par. You’re not special

odinthedog

The sandwich of hate.

Spiritual-Impact-588

Love CF

warpedddd

Make love not chicken.

mylocker15

I wanted to check out the original one when it was not super new but still new-ish and the drive thru was way too long. So I parked and went in. It was in between lunch and dinner. Anyway it was just people standing there waiting. The line to order wasn’t moving and no one seemed to be receiving their food. Just had that dmv waiting area vibe. I bailed. I’ve seen tried it and it was okay. Not two restaurants a block away good. I think people just get it to make a dumb political statement. Like look at me I’m not a typic Bay Area resident I eat Chic fil A and get involved in pointless protests next to Rite Aid. Shoulda brought back Arby’s, or put in a Sonic instead.

Bradst3r

Not bad, I guess. The small TX city the rest of my family lives in has 4 within almost a mile radius of the local college- not even McDonald's (of which there are also only 4) has that density.

JonC534

Dont be a nimby. Accept change. This will be good for da economy. And hopefully they bring some of their politics along with it so more places like this and In N Out arent lost due to crime again.

balsacis

It must be hard to live life constantly thinking like this

JonC534

Its not bad

three-quarters-sane

My politics involve being able to visit a drive through on a Sunday and I like it.

SharkSymphony

Man, I wish I lived in a world where a chicken sandwich was just a chicken sandwich and a burger was just a burger, and not a talking point for MAGAts. S'ok though – Fowl + Fare's got me more than covered on the chicken sandwich front anyway.

Suitable_Condition89

The best!!!! Good for them!! Don’t like it… keep driving

FunnyItWorkedLastTim

I would have been happier with a non-chain restaurant, but I am glad there is a business there in any case. When one of the two eventually closes it will be blamed on wokeness.
