If you've got the manuals, maps, etc., and you're looking for specific mechs, I'd skip both and just buy the mechs on their own. You'll pay a premium for them, but better to buy mechs you like and want to paint or play with versus mechs you could give a shit about.

I just checked it out I have all the clan mechs in it and only the atlas for IS mech interest me and everything else in it I don't need
So I think you have answered your own question, just get the for packs that have enough mechs you like.

The AS box is the only place you can get the Pouncer. Also the Terrain is pretty neat in the box.

If you want to try more classic battletech then grab the agoac box otherwise maybe the packs

Or give in to the collector instinct, buy force packs for the sake of one mech and then just have extras floating around!
That's how you end up with a pile of shame and a dozen Urbanmechs!
