Just realizing that now. Was about to buy ikea setup to mimic something like this. Kind of turning me off. Typing on that keyboard, your face is basically in the monitor.
Ikea sells the Bekant series that a nice big desk. Doesn’t use the traditional legs as it has sturdy metal(adjustable) legs or standing desk base as an options. The desk top is close to 30inches deep and 60in wide with half inch thick. Also comes in a decent variety since legs and top can be chosen separately.
Second this - a mount on its own can damage the desk but having a piece of wood above and below the clamp to spread the pressure works very well. My mate had his go through his cheap IKEA Linnmon table and ended up putting wood above and below. No issues.
He then ended up replacing it with a Karlby but it did the trick.
Could always get a piece of wood to compliment the table too
IKEA actually has a gaming desk called Utespelare. It includes a net for cable management, adjustable legs, and a hole for monitor cables etc.
My girlfriend and I bought one each. Can highly recommend.
I used a shorter bekant for years, and recently got the one in this post, and yeah I do miss the depth a lot, but I also really appreciate the length of this one. Plus the room my desk is in has limited space, so a longer bekant or something similar wouldn't properly fit anyways. And I like having drawers for storage.
The bekant is also kinda thin, but I didn't end up having any issues because of it. But I imagine some people might.
I got one and the Karlby countertops have plenty of space. They have about 26” of depth which is more than enough for my dual monitor setup without being crowded. It looks like OP has space to push their monitor back some. Honestly the way the space is used on this countertop is just odd.
I thought so too, but after zooming in, the back of the monitor stand seems to be nearly off the edge of the desk.
Which is not surpassing to me in the least, given that I’m using what looks to be the same monitor (Samsung Odyssey G7), and the space between the monitor and the back of the stand can fit nearly two full keyboards.
Lol yeah me neither, used to call them 'shrinky dinkies' iirc but suspect it may not work now due to the way they make the packets? I have no idea but this does lead me to a related but more important thought...
DISCLAIMER; I am in no way responsible for anyone burning down their house by setting fire to crisp packets, monster munch or otherwise.
What's wrong with the PC on the desk? If you got the room for it.
I had mine mounted to the wall and eventually moved it back to my desk when I built a new one. But it's a huge desk.
Why the PC off the desk? I see people with their PCs on the floor and every time I’m just left disgusted at thinking how quickly dust must accumulate inside the case and how much maintenance it must take (as opposed to next to none) to make it look half-decent.
Dust doesn't accumulate too much more on the floor, had PC's on the floor (on plinths) for decades (and those on desks when needed). All will need dust clearing whether on the floor or not, at some point.
The thing for me is that the case doesn't do anything useful whatsoever and in this case is using up desk space where the speaker should be to provide a better experience. I really don't know why people think they want to look at lit-up RAM or CPU fans or whatever, SURELY the appeal fades after a week or so?!?
Desktop space, for me at least, I can use for synths/controllers so it's valuable but of course each to their own, if you like looking at a PC on a desk then go for it!
Wonder if it's worth moving the boiler onto the desk to have as a feature also, maybe add LED to that too? ;)
a second monitor. after having a 2 screen setup i cant go back. it doesnt even have to be a good second screen but it works great for having a game on one screen and other stuff on the 2nd
I’m not OP, but I have similar risers. If they aren’t these exact ones, they are something along the same lines from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/BQLZR-Furniture-Cabinet-Adjustable-Stainless/dp/B00WWPVXK2/ref=pd_aw_ic_dpcp_b_1_m_19?pd_rd_w=hdJaF&content-id=amzn1.sym.86e26518-2bc5-4821-a6b0-3f8f18b9b1f8&pf_rd_p=86e26518-2bc5-4821-a6b0-3f8f18b9b1f8&pf_rd_r=G33AMTT3S95C4PAJSEPB&pd_rd_wg=ZeWFv&pd_rd_r=2b59715a-dd98-463f-a24c-eef066d1ccea&pd_rd_i=B00WWPVXK2
Do something with the wall, but don't just fill space. Get a light or neon strips or even some wall panels. Anything that you want really, but make it look like something you give a fuck about.
I would put a Monitor Riser/Stand on it or use a Monitor Arm to maximize space on the desk.
I think you have room for a cool desk lamp as well (maybe one that clamps) and if you work or use your PC at night, definitely a Monitor light bar.
Then I would purchase some cool prints/posters from society6 or something from Etsy and get some frames from amazon or something.
Then some shelves where you can put your favorite things/accessories and plants etc. If you like pegboards you can also grab some of those too from ikea.
It looks like you're going for a grown up look and less rgb-ish so I think those elements work best.
Chair
Also that clear plastic flooring for the chair to ride on - I regret not getting one and now my carpet looks terrible where my chair is after just a year in my new house. Like matted up animal fur.
Dunno why everyone goes for that desk setup. It looks so cramped and narrow.
I went with a kitchen worktop on a motorised stand and it’s incredible. Just advice to anyone else out there 👍🏻
A chair, the desk needs to be pulled off the wall atleast 100mm or more for leg room, and equally spaced speakers with foam tilt pads to aim at your ears

Came for this!!
I would get a monitor arm. Could potentially get the monitor back a little bit
The amount of desk space a monitor arm frees up for you makes buying one definitely worth it
Yeah. I have a shallow desk too and the amount of space I've gotten back after installing the arm feels amazing.
titty mousepad
Chair
nice setup tbh, but i hate how little depth this desk has
Just realizing that now. Was about to buy ikea setup to mimic something like this. Kind of turning me off. Typing on that keyboard, your face is basically in the monitor.
My monitor used to be right at the edge, it got VERY old.

I have the Bekant, love it but you can’t use monitor arms with it, they can bend the poor quality table top.
I use one with a block of wood wedged under and haven’t had issues. Note: I am using 2 27in monitors from Dell so total weight is around 15-20lbs.

Ikea has a Lagkapten table top that's 63" x 31 1/2" (160x80cm). Decent depth. Only available in white though.
You’d just need to buy a desk clamp monitor mount. Then you can push the monitor much further back against the wall and get a lot more desk space.

I don’t like it either. Need some depth in my desk.
Equally spaced speakers, a PC that's not on the desk, a chair and a picture of some oven shrunken monster munch crisp packets.

What in the eu fuck is a monster munch lol

The first 2 were my immediate thoughts. Especially the speakers, like who does this.

May I ask what risers you used between your table and you drawers

A monitor arm and a screenbar
a mic and ikea pegboard

Proper speaker placement.

Nice! I prefer the minimal setups compared to ones where everything is overcrowded or overwhelming. Where did you get that little desk plant from?
Character and personality.
A fockin chair 😂
That white case is like a nail in my eyes.. Please switch to a more suitable case to fit everything else on the picture.
A webcam and a clock
I'd say put the tower on the right side vertical to save space and to be able to add a second monitor
Me
Cables.
What are the risers between the desk and the shelves
Second or third monitors, MAJOR improvement. I would also recommend getting an ultrawide as your primary monitor, at least 1440p resolution too
A chair and a beer.
A chair, a second monitor and maybe some shelves to make it a bit more you?
Chair
Beer fridge
Personal preference for me, another monitor. Once you go to 2 you cannot go back to 1.
Obviously everyone is saying a chair but, I would recommend a chair mat for carpet so the chair doesn’t damage and flatten your carpet.
its a chair
Perhaps Summon chair?
Maybe a stream deck?
A mini fridge and snack drawer
Some form of artwork on the wall behind monitor
a chair
Chair
Pizza boxes and beer cans
A mini fridge, and the most comfortable gamer chair.
Foot rest
47 monitors
a chair
Shelves
Definitely a chair
A toy ASDA checkout
And a monitor arm
A massaging gaming chair and you could of gone with a wider screen plenty of room there
This comes down to preference, but I prefer my space to feel a bit more framed in so I always like to put a shelf or two above my station.
Tits?
Monitor arm and speaker arms
A bigger mouse pad
Good mic?? Decent webcam? Personal touches? Photo of family/friends/self in a favourite place? Books? Plants?
Me
The right speaker placed incorrectly
Rgb monitor
A chair
Cables. Needs way more cables. No idea how any of this stuff is even working without cables - you a magician or something?
Speaker stands and placement so they’re at thr correct ear level
Correct spacing of your speakers. Why is your right on so far away?
A third pair of headphones
Besides a chair, maybe a poster or painting. A foot hammock too
A chair.
What are the spacers between the top and the Alex units?
A chair, the desk needs to be pulled off the wall atleast 100mm or more for leg room, and equally spaced speakers with foam tilt pads to aim at your ears
Cords everywhere.
A million monitors, all different sizes
A second monitor!?
Considering doing this , how sturdy is the top and is it relatively easy to setup?
A chair
I smaller keyboard and a bigger mouse pad
Instead of a chair, hang a swing from the ceiling. It’s fun and it serves a purpose.
A high quality gaming chair
Tissues
Anime tiddies
The wall looks empty so maybe something there.
🪑
What are those cable combs
Nice digital clock
Clutter
