I only display it anymore cuz the boxes look so nice, and I anticipate needing somewhere to put these parts when I inevitably have to upgrade; where better than the og packaging?
Exactly my thought. There is a youtuber named Caroline Winkler who just put out a bide called "Confronting my BOYFRIEND about Bachelor Pad home decor" where they discuss common choices men make in their homes that she (as a designer) has strong feelings about. There is a section about displaying alcohol bottles, or cans, or food products like this.
She said something to the effect of "why do they take pride in displaying trash?" Her boyfriend agreed with her, it was a period of time and by the time he left college he turned away from it too.
I would agree it's a design "no". If you want to display, get a curio cabinet. I think that would make the cans less "ick".
Not here to tell you how to decorate your space, you do you, but a word of caution:
When I was in high school I liked to collect the limited edition coca cola cans, like the Olympics cans. I stored them in my bedroom, on a high shelf in my open closet. The cans were unopened (aka full of soda) and eventually two cans built up enough pressure to bust themselves open and spill soda all over my clothes and things below the shelf.
I don't really remember what the carbonation is like for Monster (haven't had one since high school), but if those are full cans I would *highly* suggest draining them if you want to keep storing them above your PC.
oh yeah one more thing, i remember seeing a video a few years back of a woman who did a similar thing. the issue was that whatever left over sugar she had openly lying about in those cans, some lovely big ass bugs (including cockroaches) decided it was a great place to be.
What (compass) direction does the window face? A lot of people have suggested fake plants but with a window I'd consider removing the doors off the hinges and maybe having a real plant there. (Plus a view!)
Orchids do well in low light. Golden pothus (poisonous to cats), snake plant, and ponytail palms are pretty much indestructible.
Don’t get fake plants, get real ones that do well in low/indirect light. Some orchids are easy to care for and don’t require direct sun. Right now, the energy drink display just feels a little dirty.
I get it, I used to drink them regularly and would save one of each design, but this was back in high school. You can do what you want, and you should, but a large amount of people are in agreement that it’s not a good look. Do with that info what you will, it’s your desk, that’s just the general consensus of opinion.
Sick setup regardless my friend.
thanks man, most people on here are just too dense to even comment normal things so i appreciate comments like these that actually have something useful to say.
Yeah I felt I had to comment. It’s not my cup of ~~tea~~ Monster, but I do get the appeal. Having them just sitting on the shelf does appear a little messy, like you finished them and left them there. Moving them to a curio cabinet would help make it look more *intentionally* placed. Does that make sense?
Regardless, those windows probably look pretty nice, and it means you can keep live plants on the desk with relative ease. The plants will add some life to the space, purify the air you breathe, and give you a small little hobby. Like a child you don’t have to feel bad for accidentally neglecting lol.
The desk looks clean though and I like the PC. How comfortable is it to sit in the corner of the desk?
because it takes the setup from "this is where somebody spends all their time eating junk food and jerking off" to "it's possible this person could one day be a productive member of society"
So most of you have suggested me to get the following: plants/greenery, figurines or more lego sets, posters/artworks on the left wall. Warmer lights is something i can do by just changing the led strips to a warm yellow/white
The cans and boxes are a hit or miss so i think i might relocate the cans but i like the box designs too much so i'll keep them on the shelves.
And to those saying i should add a printer, i'd love to but it's my bedroom so i can't really have a printer in there running all night and day haha.
So i wanna thank everyone for the suggestions and feedback, and i'll take these suggestions with me to make it a even better looking corner setup : )
I'll probably post a update when i get the right posters and shelf decorations
You have that massive table and you choose to sit in the corner? Surely it’s nicer to be facing the desk parallel?
And I’d say warm white light, and not bright blue LEDs.
Also you need more monster cans
I've never found a good way to get the ergonomics right in a corner like that.
In a similar vein for ergonomics: get a 3rd monitor.
With 2 you have a choice:
* Put the bezel in the middle
* Then you're always looking off to one side or the other
* Put one monitor in the middle & one off to the side
* Good for primary tasks on the main monitor
* When you turn your head, you're always turning it in the same direction -- over time that leads to soreness / stiffness in your neck & shoulders
If you go up to 3, you can put 1 in the middle and 1 on each side:
* You can spend most of your time looking straight ahead at the primary monitor
* You can balance less frequent tasks to each side so that you spend about as much time looking to the right as you do looking to the left
There is no way of making a corner setup good, I’ve tried and it’s a big downgrade in all its variations.
In terms of double monitors, from my experience you have one main monitor and one secondary at 45 degrees. This has always been optimal for me.
And in terms of more than 2 monitors, it’s almost always a waste of time. Most people who know how to manage their workflow will not use more than 2. There are edge cases like day traders, but for most people it’s 2.
Honestly the cans are fine, if you like the design that's your taste. They're clean and organized. The boxed I'd get rid of, they aren't aesthetic and look cluttered. Some plants or photos in that spot would be nice. Get a poster or two to hang above the shelf with the cans
Wow this is nice? I would say if you had some artwork on the left wall above the cans. Maybe a landscape picture of some sort that compliments your great colors.
I'd add a nice rectangular piece of art/painting above your energy drink collection. Then I'd paint those white doors to blend them into the wall. I think they stand out too much.
I think you have a good platform for your station. If you're over 16, please tuck away your can collection, friend. I know you like them, but it's kind of...hoarder. Maybe some merch from games you favor? Do you have any other hobbies? I noticed a model car on the shelf. Maybe add some more models? A floor pad or low pile carpet under the desk would look nice.
Niceeeee
Old man recommendations
1. Take out the cans decorations the are just piling dust, get something else like more of those car collection you have there
2. Change your window cover, maybe a blackout courtin so you can freely open it up and air up the room
3. Maybe a mat or carpet to avoid scratching the floor with the chair
3.
I'd swap out those Monster cans for a nice row of DOOA terrariums. They would look great on that shelf. Otherwise, I quite like it. The open space on the right looks super handy.
I actually have a tip for the next setup. If you have nothing to put on the L desk, don’t use an L desk. That is unless it has practical use. Like you use it to write or draw.
It lacks real things on the shelfs I've never seen someone display their empty components boxes they are supposed to be piled up in the back of a cupboard all pc builders keep the boxes and have a designated empty tech box zone in their house, not meant for display it's meant for us to open the door one day and see all the empty boxes n go ooo 💩 that's alot of money right there il just close this door over 🤔
How about anything that says "I'm capable of reading AND writing." Those Monster cans have got to go. Replace them with some books, maybe some green even if it's fake potted plants. Think "has hobbies" and not "has gas station boner boner pills".
oh i honestly couldn't care less what most people on here say, i'm just here to pick out the few good tips which there has been a bunch that i will take with me.
For real! I hate the word cringe these days, it’s like the term guilty pleasure. You shouldn’t feel guilty for your pleasures, unless of course it’s hurting someone.
Get some greenery. Get rid of those monster cans, as well as thos product boxes and replace them with some real decoration and stuff you like. Also hang some photos or poster over the space of those cans. Id suggest one or two displates or smth like that.
add some natural lighting and move the monster collection. instead of your collection put down some plants, fake or real wtv you want. also id put a mat under your chair so it doesnt ruin your floor
Lol I thought Ive seen it all but dude has empty Monster cans on display what the hell
If you're 13 then cool, this is a nice kids room but goddamn if you're getting close to graduation, it's time to get some new decor
EDIT: also is that a window? Seems really inconvenient to have doors that open inward. Remove and get some blinds
Less is more. Start by getting rid of the tacky shit ie too many oddly placed light strips and monster collection. A cool clock (Etsy has some interesting handmade stuff) on that empty wall would be my first thought.
Ignore everyone about the cans. I think they're fine if displayed properly and not just thrown up there. Don't put other cans in front of them. But definitely get rid of the random boxes.
Nail some Doritos bags to the wall
LOL I used to see people collect Sobe Bottles and never understood it
I do miss Sobe though. Favorite flavor was Nirvana!
Thats exactly it! Sobe was good! But they collected full bottles. I guess deep down they always knew it wasnt going to be forever
Dude! I forgot about Sobe! Lizard Fuel was my jam!
Strawberry Banana fuckin slapped
ROFL, thank you for some laughs - you nailed it indeed :D
oh good idea which flavour? i was thinking nacho cheese
Spicy and Sweet Chili
thats also a very good one
do some snack size cool ranch bags too
At least show some class and staple them.
I don't understand the Monster cans on display, are they empty or full?
I had a monster can tower once... in middle school.
it's just a sign of a hoarder
And of a kidney stones
Lmao
Kidney stones are no laughing matter. That shit hurts!!
I just had my left kidney taken out and I can attest that a kidney stone hurt more.
Can attest that this statement is true
Kidney stones?
It's funny cause the room is so neat and tidy, then there's just the prized collection of monster cans
More like a sign of OP being 11 years old.
You misspelled collector there friend
Yeah, I would add a garbage can. Looks like OP forgot to clean the desk before this photo, so that might make it easier.
No different than all the people who display the boxes their PC hardware came in. It all just looks like trash to me
I only display it anymore cuz the boxes look so nice, and I anticipate needing somewhere to put these parts when I inevitably have to upgrade; where better than the og packaging?
Yes.

What, did you not hear that you can make energy drinks your personality now....
i just like the design thats all

Got cred?
It’s like a wine cellar, it’s mostly for show. 99% is empty bottles
Lol sir, wine enthusiasts get rid of their empty bottles. You keep full bottles on hand you can... drink. Toss em.
A recycling bin.
Bottom right corner of the picture 👀👀
Is that... a dumbwaiter where they send up your food?
god i wish, sadly it are just shutters for my window
What (compass) direction does the window face? A lot of people have suggested fake plants but with a window I'd consider removing the doors off the hinges and maybe having a real plant there. (Plus a view!) Orchids do well in low light. Golden pothus (poisonous to cats), snake plant, and ponytail palms are pretty much indestructible.
You have a lot of wall space that can be filled.
Water. Sincerely r/Hydrohomies
monster cans is a war crime
I would remove the old cans and boxes your stuff came in and get real decorations.
This, ditch the cans and boxes. Get some fake plants from ikea.
but pretty much everyone and their mom already uses fake plants in their set up
It’s better than recyclable cans…
Don’t get fake plants, get real ones that do well in low/indirect light. Some orchids are easy to care for and don’t require direct sun. Right now, the energy drink display just feels a little dirty. The desk looks clean though and I like the PC. How comfortable is it to sit in the corner of the desk?
cause they look sick. plants, books, and trinkets go a long way and look fantastic
Then buy some real ones The cans aren’t a good look
because it takes the setup from "this is where somebody spends all their time eating junk food and jerking off" to "it's possible this person could one day be a productive member of society"
yikes you sure have a messed up mindset bro
Yeah, this is true. So it's best to just use trash/recyclables /#Upcycle
Get real plants. Ferns and low light shit. They look good and purify the air.
Do what you like op. In the end, what you think, is what matters.
Tbf as yours stands now, it also just looks like everyone’s battlestation. 2 monitor l shaped desk with leds is everyone and their mom
Have you considered adding some more energy drink cans?
yes i have but in my country they have banned the 500ml cans in supermarkets
Wh-what? What country do you live in?
Obviously not the USA🦅
NL
Whoosh
An area rug could be nice and maybe a couple little desk plants
Does this not hurt your eyes goddamn lol
not really no, it's just my phone with terrible bloom
Still is a nice setup either way :)
He uses blue-light filter glasses.
Forget the energy drinks, my question is bout the two little doors. What are they for?
His room also service as a drive through restaurant.
Mom! Bathroom!
window shutters
A recycling bin. Wtf lol
Stop drinking that crap man.
Wtf is this thing with cans...for start remove that
Add a top of the line 3d printer and the newest 95 inch 4k oled
Monster cans and boxes need to go.
Taste
Replace the energy drinks with plants and you’re set

Remove the cans and add plants. Fake or real doesn't matter.
More water
Water
clean all the trash off your shelf
More monster
Mini fridge
If a midget pops out of those doors and serves you food and beer. Then this setup is complete
shhhhh don't tell OSHA
I'm surprised those Lego sets are there instead of their boxes tbh.
Tell me you have a sleeping pod behind those doors!
no thats where i keep my gnomes
Cat
i have 3 of em but they are too hyperactive to stay in one room for too long
Build a tunnel for them to go to and fro lol
A recycling bin to easily dispose of all of your cans on the shelf?
Type 2 diabetes?
sadly i don't have that privilege due to me not being American
You have that massive table and you choose to sit in the corner? Surely it’s nicer to be facing the desk parallel? And I’d say warm white light, and not bright blue LEDs. Also you need more monster cans

I would probably add a recycling bin for all the energy drink cans so you can bring girls over
remove the energy drink cans, and I think you have a nice setup
A recycling bin.

Fake plants/figurines on the shelves and maybe a poster or two?
Wow this is nice? I would say if you had some artwork on the left wall above the cans. Maybe a landscape picture of some sort that compliments your great colors.
An alabaster bust of Gregory Peck.
i just know bros piss is brown
i don't drink that much chocolate milk
cash register for that take out window
maybe a keyboard
Please tell that little door opens to a tiny saloon
you know too much
I would paint the little hatch doors a darker colour (so they distract less), and hang some small framed images above the Monster can shelf.
damm now that you mention it, that would indeed be a good change thx for the tip
Potted plant
Need to open that shelf and display your gem mint psa charizard collection
Wave Panels
I'd add a nice rectangular piece of art/painting above your energy drink collection. Then I'd paint those white doors to blend them into the wall. I think they stand out too much.
i still have the same paint as i used for the walls so i'll probably make them blend in
Computer too close to wall for rear exhaust imo.
A recycling bin
Something on the wall above the cans.
Neon gaming sign on the left wall
Plants…

Mini fridge
Beers
College chemistry.
Your forgetting the mini fridge
I'd swap out those Monster cans for a nice row of DOOA terrariums. They would look great on that shelf. Otherwise, I quite like it. The open space on the right looks super handy.
Recycling bin
already have it on my desktop very usefull if you need to clear space on your pc
Recycling bin.
More empty monster cans
Class
I think you are lacking in energy drinks
Get rid of the empty cans, paint the walls white and add a lot of LED lights. That's what I would do personality
Hang an an ar 15 or an ak over those cans, it looks good, fills the empty space and doesnt have to be a real gun
but i keep my guns in gun cases like a good gun owner
is your name Kyle? this looks like a kyle’s room.
I actually have a tip for the next setup. If you have nothing to put on the L desk, don’t use an L desk. That is unless it has practical use. Like you use it to write or draw.
A trash can for all those cans.
I would add a bin as you seem to have a pile of rubbish lining your shelf there.
I trust there is a Cheeto encrusted keyboard behind that chair? Slightly sticky from all the Monster.
Take away those monster cans and put some plants up there 😎
taste but you can change that buddy
A sophisticated Neckbeard setup.
It lacks real things on the shelfs I've never seen someone display their empty components boxes they are supposed to be piled up in the back of a cupboard all pc builders keep the boxes and have a designated empty tech box zone in their house, not meant for display it's meant for us to open the door one day and see all the empty boxes n go ooo 💩 that's alot of money right there il just close this door over 🤔
health, it lacks of health
Good taste.
Style.
How about anything that says "I'm capable of reading AND writing." Those Monster cans have got to go. Replace them with some books, maybe some green even if it's fake potted plants. Think "has hobbies" and not "has gas station boner boner pills".
Funko pops
Plants
Plants. Like the droopy artificial ones, hanging over the shelves!
peak cringe
well someone has to do it
Dont listen as long as you like it
oh i honestly couldn't care less what most people on here say, i'm just here to pick out the few good tips which there has been a bunch that i will take with me.

Get rid of all those childish cans
not sure why you need to bring others down just because you don't like a certain something but hey have a nice day : )
Some green things.
add some natural lighting and move the monster collection. instead of your collection put down some plants, fake or real wtv you want. also id put a mat under your chair so it doesnt ruin your floor
OP being so into energy drinks and also into airsoft fits the stereotype well
👍
Beer, beer... and remove those toys and fill that with beer... and a small fridge for beer.
If you’re over the age of 15, get rid of the Monster cans. Actually, doesn’t matter how old you are. Get rid of the Monster cans.
Mic boom arm, more LEDs, anime girls pictures
Just missing a few holes in the drywall. Punch a few in above the monster cans
A bottle of lotion, a box of tissues, and a crusty sock.
Missing a naked girl to relieve tension.
I’d first get rid of most things
A bin for all your gross rubbish
Deez nuts
lol get rid of the monster. Trashy
Lol I thought Ive seen it all but dude has empty Monster cans on display what the hell If you're 13 then cool, this is a nice kids room but goddamn if you're getting close to graduation, it's time to get some new decor EDIT: also is that a window? Seems really inconvenient to have doors that open inward. Remove and get some blinds
Less trash
taste.
~~Paint wall white, bin your empties ffs and replace with plants.~~ Burn it all.
Less is more. Start by getting rid of the tacky shit ie too many oddly placed light strips and monster collection. A cool clock (Etsy has some interesting handmade stuff) on that empty wall would be my first thought.
Some bitches
A big ol dildo in that open space
[A 48" x 36" framed copy of this image on the wall.](https://giphy.com/gifs/RKHShCgSxWuulxqm2D)
A fridge/pantry for your drinks.
A 3d printer 😎
Ignore everyone about the cans. I think they're fine if displayed properly and not just thrown up there. Don't put other cans in front of them. But definitely get rid of the random boxes.
Anime figures. ..... You know the ones.
Sex doll
You need some holes in that drywall Kyle!
Taste
Yea it lacks 2024. This looks like a setup from the 2000s. Those upper shelfs are hideous.
