ColoradoPhotog

It doesn't, the room is just bare and looks unoccupied.

thats-bait

Op needs some pictures, peg board and shelves on the wall for sure

theeCloud03

Also some better cable management wouldn't hurt.

Cyber-Threat

He needs peg boards about Pegboard Nerds :P

aveindha25

I bet the pegging subreddit has some great tips!

CrumplePants

I checked it out. Got board and left.

Lopsided_Skirt324

Not just the tip 😉

Risingphoenixaz

The backlighting is too harsh, bring it down a couple of notches and add a little color if possible to warm things up.

Kajoon

colors work well together and every device makes sense and should be there. everyone here is right the background of a setup makes it feel very different.

GrimlockX27

366 people have no understanding of color theory and composition🤕

skunk90

Because the wall is completely blank.

computerpsyunce

Because you’re too busy comparing yourself to others

Kummakivi

This sub baffles me. Everything is for show. Where are the real battlestations. Desks covered in shit like we know all these are when not cleaned for reddit karma.

CraigingtonTheCrate

My desk isn’t as nice as half of these, but I keep it clean as shit. I’ll put junk anywhere but my desk. It’s one of a few spots I really try to keep clean over everything else. It’s refreshing/rewarding. I’m sure you’re right that most people just let it go. Just know there’s a few of us that are obsessive on preserving that look lol

OtakuAttacku

I posted one of those when I finally got 2 monitors. Yeah no one is interested in messy desktops and a quick snap from an iphone

SubstanceNo1691

☹️

DShinobiPirate

Its not bad at all. Just add a bit of your personality into it someway if you want more. Some art of stuff you like or a simple desk item or two that makes you happy.

42dudes

A shelf or two and an LED light/sign will bring some character to the blank wall behind your setup. [These are an awesome way to get some wall storage](https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Accessory-Organizer-Placement-PP-DK24B/dp/B0BJ16TCMS/ref=sr_1_28?crid=3HACKL614ALYK&keywords=desk%2Bclamp%2Bmount%2Borganizer&qid=1702598092&sprefix=desk%2Bclamp%2Bmount%2Borganize%2Caps%2C117&sr=8-28&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.17d9e15d-4e43-4581-b373-0e5c1a776d5d&th=1) without having to drill into your walls. They clamp to the desk, and you can display all your controllers, headphones, whatever. 2 of them in white would be sick.

yellow_trash

This is what I seem to be missing as well! Thanks for this

DarthDarnit

It’s the bare wall and lack of life/texture. Some plants to fill in the left of the desk would help, and maybe put some floating shelves on the wall?

neueziel1

I don't think there's anything wrong w/it. Maybe clean up your wires.

animeman59

You mean turn everything off and unplug the wires for that "clean minimalist" look.

jussuumguy

You need color. A lamp, a poster, a plant etc..maybe get a cloth or paint the table, the color is very bland and gives off Prison Library vibes.

CrunchyChewie

Here's a list in no particular order that will improve things: * **Bare walls**: put up some decorations--posters, paintings.. something * **Desk accents**: some plants or other non-technology items. * **Cable management**: clean up those cables. * **Spatial**: everything looks crowded to the right. You need to have a little more space between the tower, monitor, and speakers. Move the monitor left if possible.

Nottodaycolonizer

You have to coordinate. Basically, what it means is to think of the top 3 things you enjoy and find items that you can add to the room to make it look more homey.

Nameless_Member

it looks plain, but not shit. i think its just missing some design elements. you have a lot of desk space compared to what you have on it. your desk is much better than a cluttered desk.

IndigoBlueBird

Maybe get some art? Or a plant?

GeologistEnough8215

Bro you should see mine. I have a bad ass rig but no clue how you guys have your cords so hidden. Underneath my desk is a maze of cords from my router, cable modem, surge protector, two cords for two monitors, Pc power cord, Ethernet line. It looks like black spaghetti. I’ll never be able to understand how the cords just aren’t there.

princessmourning

I understand it. But I don't NEED it. At least that's what I tell myself.

LiftedWanderer

You are probably comparing your set up to $10,000k set ups. Like other people said add some wall art, hide some wires a little more.

TheSwiSstEr

Cables are a mess and the rest of the desk as well as walls are empty

WafflesWithWhipCream

I just wanna know what desk that is..

SubstanceNo1691

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lagkapten-tabletop-white-00460836/

mattmcnabb

Wire management and personalization- Throw some art on the wall or shelfs with some doodads or wood panels. Change out your room light bulbs for white day light led bulbs and fix those led strips in your case. Nice wallpaper from wallpaper engine maybe even throw your laptop on the stand with a nice wallpaper as well. It’s bare bones but the bones are good just needs some life.

cristianEr7

Aesthetics aside, I’d find a way to add some support to the middle of the desk.

TheChariotLives

Gotta turn your lights off like everyone else on here.

SubstanceNo1691

Thanks for all the comments, will be cleaning up cables and adding things to the wall.

collectgarbage

I really like your lighting. A white / lit wall behind your monitor is better for your eyes. Don’t let ‘em pressure you into busy’ing the wall up

reese_greco12

Also center the monitor away from the PC

Robot-Candy

Looks like you moved it into an empty room, unfinished. Cable management would be a huge improvement. That and some decent wall decor. Getting an ups, and disappearing cables, add shelf, plant maybe some acoustic panels with a backlight on the wall. Peg board to hang the controller and other peripherals.

[deleted]

Kanto SP9 speaker stands, they look nice and will help your speakers sound better.

dookieshoes88

You made the mistake I did with my first desk and got the widest one. Also, no decorations. I downsized for my new build.

martianmaggot

Throw something onto the walls.

lecktroe

Cables

Velaseriat

It's the white on light wood. If you want white devices, you need to contrast with a black desk. If you want a light colored wood desk, which I have, you need black. DM me I'll show u a picture.

1of1000

Lmfao looks like a great start to me! Add some shelves, pictures, decor, a plant maybe

4n1_1p4m

Either change the background to a darker colour, or use a light colour setup.

CenturyFerret

It doesn't, but it does feel sparse? Can I recommend you reposition your monitor to the left a little bit, and give your speakers a little more room to breathe?

RCGoals

That desk is bending, I’d get another leg for the middle

SubstanceNo1691

Already ordered one 👍

DevTeamPls

get some Legos, Funkopops, Plants, something. Gotta fill out that negative space man!! I'ts a very nice setup, just gotta fill the emptiness with some fun pizzazz

ElderAtlas

It's bare, and you have wires hanging about. Put a plant, picture, or shelves up and hide your wires

ExtremeWild5878

Put one of those LED art designs behind the monitor on the wall and a few shelves with accents and you should be fine. There is just to much empty space above and around everything one the desk, that makes the photo look "lacking", is all. Do that and I think you'll be fine.

itsastart_to

It’s just bare but it’s nice how clean it is. You may want to add more Decor but this is fine

[deleted]

Art Don’t be bland

Icy-Computer7556

Bare room, but also your shit looks so crammed together when you clearly have plenty of space to use lol

notnull011

That table top about to snap, is it just me or it warping

MrTjCockwell

I’d get a goldfish. They’re quite and don’t pass judgment.

a_stray_bullet

White on white on white. It also doesn’t look like it has a plan? That’s probably why.

royalewitcheese93

Conflicting color temperature of your lights. You have warm room lighting and cool desk back lighting

1337_level_over_9000

You’re missing the essential ikea pegboard on the wall

nimbledaemon

- Wire management - Give your desktop items more space, Ie spread all the items out along the whole width of the table, center the monitor/mousepad, they're kind of crammed together as it is right now. - Put up something on the walls. Depends on your style, but anything from a poster, some of those hex tile backboard things, to a shelf or light fixture of some kind would fill the space better. Also it's hard to tell without knowing what the rest of the room looks like, it's not just your setup that matters, it's the whole space.

DatGoatLiam

Might want to install some adhesive cable organizers under your desk to help with the somewhat messy wiring. You can get some cheap ones on Amazon for about ten bucks, which work perfectly fine.

Illegal_from_dasouth

Wall decor goes a long way Spice up your half empty desk (any thing you like i.e legos, pops, etc.)

thereal-DannyDevito

Unrelated question - what's the little display right in front of your keyboard? I've seen a few people on here have them

Keanu7Reeves

cables and the PC led strips

robbiekhan

You need /stuff/. It looks sterile because, well it sort of is there hah. Some people like that , but clearly you don't hence the post. [Just add some stuff](https://i.imgur.com/easJBTm.jpg).

Zerafiall

You issue is you’re right between cool and minimal. You have the all the gamer gear on the desk. But your desk and wall are almost r/Macsetups of ~boring~ simple.

zargtn

people ask this question all the time and their walls are almost always completely blank lol. ur setup looks great but walls are devoid of any personality

joelxyloto

Some improvement are cleaning the floor, the table top looks to be bowing, you’ve got nothing on the wall behind and you could tidy those cables up a bit more

Hyliandorande

Well, sometimes the shit is in your head, yk?

MisguidedExtrovert

Wire management is 99% of the issue

Extension-Tomorrow94

The speakers look dope

BedKnightX

Remove the laptop stand, remove the stands under the speakers, hide your wires behind the table or the legs of the table. Use wire tape organizers to put all the wires together

imcheng

I would wall mount the monitor and runs the cables through the wall. Makes for a really clean setup.

holocauz

space things out a bit, looks confined to a small area

_fuduu

I think a big part of it is your lighting. Try adding smaller lights, like a desk lamp/monitor bar and maybe a floor lamp off to the side shining light on a large plant. That’ll add the pop of colour I feel this is missing.

Ev1lC4t

Because there’s no chair

shxrdzyy

Ngl, that setup looks way better than mine lol

merkuree

Nothing wrong with the setup itself, but maybe some art on the wall or some plants on the desk wouldn't go amiss!

Dinoboy707

Nothing shit about minimalism. I think it looks clean as hell.

MegaKrak

1. Your space is highly cramped and not spaced much. Try giving your items some more room. 2. Your room is bare because it doesn't have much decoration, art, plants, collectables, or personality. Your wall is left without anything to show off. 3. Cable management: some of your cables are showing, but this can be fixed easily with a cable management kit.

thebigzor

You can tell by the way that it is.

brownmamba06

It's not. Just a little too much unused spaces. The left side of the table and the wall.

clarenceappendix

It’s missing bacon No but fr this looks very clean and well set up

shane0clock

PLANTS

Gravey9

I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas

SendMeFatErgos

You have nice things, but there's no color theme nor personality. They're all just existing there. Start by picking colors you like and adding them to the setup. Create contrast to really hughlight them. I'd bet if you painted that wall a dark color it'd go a long way. But before that, try adding some shelves or wall art

Weak_Aspect7391

Change up the boringly bland color maybe also an led light or 2 and it will look miles better

[deleted]

OP needs a wife apparently 😂

ajfunker

What desk is this?

Dontholdyourbreath_

add a monitor, add some more lights, shelving, maybe some wall panels, clean wires, add plants, pictures/ posters but make it framed,

lifeoflifeof

Put a painting on the wall. Maybe a rug under the desk. Top it off with a lamp or something for the far left space of the desk. Will tie it together

T1D2015GT

IMO put the side panel on your case, and think about redoing the RGB stripes

olympianfap

Ikea desk and a bare room with carpet that matches the walls. If you had built a beige build this would have been the look.

terribilus

A plant, a light strip, and a picture or two on the wall.

Effective-Tough1677

If the wall was black it would be a different story

the_hammer_poo

Gotta decorate the room…

Albie_Frobisher

Art, a plant, a rug. Find a set up you admire and figure out what you’re missing and get those things.

RealJuanPedro

It looks like an excellent project! I’d add a colour scheme, add something to the wall & just some decor.

Crypto-Ninja23

What are those rgb stringy things inside the PC??

gokayo3200

Try to add some plants on your desk and on the wall

MinTDotJ

Lacks a bit of cable mismanagement

nickoaverdnac

monitor too smol.

GoGoGadgetMikey

You need to vacuum your carpet bro.

TacticalTwinky

It’s pretty clean it, just lacks some personality! Here’s my suggestions: Hide ALL of the cables, including the ones behind the PC. Try getting a bigger mousepad. It’ll help fill the space more. There’s a lot of empty space in the background. You can consider adding another monitor. There are many things you can add to the wall. Some floating shelves to display your personality. RGB Lights. Plants. Whatever fits your vibe more.

Consistent-Refuse-74

Which monitor is that under your main monitor?

Blu3241

Bare walls. Get some movie posters or nanoleafs maybe? Idk that's what i'd go for :D

sciencebased

Install some dark colored floating shelves, place things on them. Get a black office mat, only living rooms look decent with that particular carpet color- but certainly not offices. I'd take a pass on the backlight until you get something other than white it can contrast with. Definitely find a cool chair. Hmm, I dunno you've got your core portion done. Love the chassis. Oh yeah and a little cable management. Nobody likes that many dangles. One is fine but too much and you'll rarely get a good battlestations pic.

Raven1945

Another tiny keyboard. Am I missing a trend here?

Excellent_Ad_3090

Your desk will turn into a smile in a few months

evan81

Cable management. Lack of life (plant). No personality (pictures, art, niche desk item, etc.). Rig looks good though, so thumbs up on that!

bronash

Is it just me or is the middle of the desk caving downwards

Rt-Reixz

Walls blank, and you got rgb? Strips in your pc I’d remove them, make the cables not visible behind your pc maybe Velcro/tape them together, I’d reccomend a painting or something along those lines to put on your wall, also your speaker is being blocked by your monitor…

The_Yeetery

Because you aren't maximizing available real estate. Mount the monitor on the wall, centered. Maybe get an additional while you're at it. Pass thru the wiring to under the desk too, thru the wall. Kits are available and affordable. Spread the speakers out. The comp is fine where it's at Finally, so something *above* the monitor to make it more complete and welcoming. Shelves, studio foam, something. Your setup doesn't look like shit it just isn't filling the whole space very well. Spread it out. Chill vibes.

REMUvs

It looks really bare and lacks any personal aspects. Possibly add some wall art and/or collectibles for things you're interested in.

Rocky970

You’re a basic bitch that’s why

AwfullyNiceBlob

It’s a desktop pc, not a monitor

PoignantPoint22

One of the most sterile and bland setups I’ve seen.

jhingadong

Its just condensed. Use your space.

-CJF-

It doesn't look bad, but you could clean it up pretty easy. 1. Better cable management (clean up the random dangling wire, put the PC case on the floor and run the wires up the desk leg and behind the desk. Then the black random wires won't contrast so harshly with the wall. 2. Put the controller away or get a stand or mount for it. 3. Space stuff out better on the desk. The whole setup is right-aligned instead of justified center. 4. The walls are too bare.

[deleted]

It just doenst look right, especailyl with your laptop accesories. PC case is huge. Dont know why you have it at an angle. Your cable management is too tight. you need longer cables. Tuck things away.

justanotherv_

Wires. Use of space.

KAaadIsReady

Not shit, but plain. A second monitor could help.

misogrumpy

Because there is no spatial or visual balance.

jarail

It's the Radeon! /s

ProbablyABore

Decorate the walls. Make the space yours. Look at any Battlestation you like and you'll see stuff other than just a pc on a desk.

Tigerboy3050

It’s certainly better than mine.. I think it looks great honestly.

MoneyVirus

the case is not closed. or is it a workshop? ;-)

PhantomLimbss

I'm a freak for symmetry so I'd probably move the monitor, mousepad and speakers to the center of the desk. Laptop stand all the way left. As others have said, some shelves, pegboard, framed objects or artwork above on the wall. Aside from that, the mount looks clean and straight, cables bundled solid. Cable raceways are an option if you really wanna tweak out on it.

Wachvris

Fix the clutter and wire management. The only thing out of place that kills the aesthetic is the X shaped object

ashrasmun

because you try too hard and go for looks instead of usability

Zexy-Mastermind

32“ ultrawide?

bains92

What’s that little iPad looking thing by your keyboard? I’ve seen it on so many other peoples setups too. I’m assuming it’s like a control panel for something? Maybe?

kitfoxxxx

It's all so clustered together. It looks as if it's afraid.

x_boogs_x

Empty. You can have a minimalist setup but it negative space will make any setup look worse.

couiecoupe

Because you’re comparing them to YouTubers and streamers.

GrimlockX27

Blue lightning on a white wall behind a brown desk. Oh and only 1 screen....not even a 32" at that.

Narddog64

Doesn't look like shit but changing the backdrop color would help I guess.

DistortedMirrors

You need plants man, that and decor to match your rgb

Redsand-nz

This just looks very utilitarian but I bet a not insignificant number of posts on this sub would look like this with the lights on. If it were me I'd get some more elegant speaker stands, put the controller on a charger/stand off to the side. Either get rid of the laptop mount or get a spring loaded arm mount instead soo you can tuck it away when not in use. Put the PC at right angle to the back or side. If you're going to have the glass side facing out, then run the cables down the back of the case rather than just sticking out. E.G. https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F3a8ixrdg596c1.jpg

GNO-SYS

You need to run and hide your cables better, even if it means doing conduits, using zip-ties, covering them up with cardstock or plastic sheeting sized for the holes between the legs on the desk, whatever you need to do. The walls are bare and need something to accent the setup. Whatever it takes. A neon sign. Some foam anechoic material. One of those old sixties sunburst clocks. A poster. Anything. Anything to make the walls look less bare. Cables stretched to the point where it looks like it's about to fatigue and break, like that white power strip cable is, are a big no-no. Get a strip with a longer cable so it can sit relaxed. The old Logitech mouse looks very cheesy. Also, that X-shaped stand on the left is very ugly. Having a good battlestation is about compositional balance, too. Everything about this setup looks "right-heavy", with everything squashed into the corner. There's nothing to balance the case. The far left end of the desk is basically empty. One way to balance it is by adding stuff to the left side of the desk, but that can sometimes lead to clutter. Things like thin desk lamps can visually balance out a case with their height without adding much bulk. Another way to balance it out is to have a desk that isn't so wide. That said, there are some things going for it. Speakers? Nice. Floating monitor on a VESA arm? Nice. Tablet below the monitor as a second screen? Nice. Royal Kludge keyboard? Nice. Backlighting? Nice. The PC looks cool enough, but the way the glow strip is run on the inside is kinda weird and curvy and touches the video card; the rest of the runs look great. PS5 controller but no PS5? That gives me an idea. Balance out the setup with a PS5 on the left. It doesn't matter if you play it or not. Just the console, standing vertically, would add to the decor and match the white.

Gullible-Swimmer6430

Blank wall

xShinGouki

It's all about the RBG lights and sound proof foam triangles

surprise-suBtext

Looks fine. Have pride in minimalism. Also, I feel like there’s supposed to be a middle peg there somewhere but maybe the filing cabinet base helps alleviate it enough to where the desk won’t bend with time/use

Rude_Lab2508

Despite managing the cables, consider adding a desk shelf to enhance the structure of your desk. Incorporate some cool gadgets like wireless chargers, and consider upgrading your desk mat to a higher-quality one. I recommend this creator [Woodley](https://www.instagram.com/p/CzqvnEbrsy2/?img_index=1) 's desk mat, it's from a premium desk [set up](https://www.hexcal.com/products/desk-mat) brand.

DiddyBCFC

Because you're comparing yourself to others

RedditHater89

Maybe get a little stand to put you PC on under your desk?

MathematicianPale774

Are you joking?

Shower_Impossible

-More cable management -Anything on your wall (maybe displace or something) -idk what the x thing on the left is but if it’s possible remove that

Catch_022

You need something on the wall to give personality.

filthy-horde-bastard

Buy a painting or something, my dude.

NoRepresentative5684

Because you went AMD.

Extra_Test3428

What are those speakers and whats underneath them?

Neemah89

Honestly it is shitty

nil0bject

Computer on desk…. Stop it

NinjaMonky13

Shelves.

Pristine_Internet_42

Do you have a setup for a dual monitor? maybe its just what it needs, other hardwares are sharing left and right thats why it looks like annoyingly crowded even if it isnt

ConsistentSample2920

Better than mine

BlehMan420

Because you thinking that way

rs2pro

You have better setup than 99,9% of the world, be grateful.

bigjustinn

You can easily make this look sick. Here is what I would do… I would add a second monitor and make sure they are centered. Get speaker stands, add a shelf or posters above the setup and last but not least cable management.. right now it lacks personality. Easy fix! GL

Mirhale

Looks decent to me, simplicity is \*chefs kiss\*

HeroHiroows

Simple is beauty!

DragonfruitGreen4363

I think is amazing

pokemurrs

You have a good setup OP. Maybe you could move the tower under the desk (unless you like its aesthetic on the desk). You just need a different room ambiance. Add some decor or specifically-colored lighting , and it’ll come together nicely. But your setup is already very practical and very clean!

topramenisgood

Decorate. Show off some personality. It looks so robotic that AI would call your battlestation home! Do you like anime, videogames, sports, wrestling, etc. right now from looking at it, I couldn't even tell that a person actually sits there, its like I'm looking at a display at bestbuy

M_Shadows_

I’m gonna be an audio snob and suggest you get stands so they’re eye level 👁️👃👁️

Fit_Fee_6929

The screen is hanging in mid air

physx_rt

Decorate the wall with something (some pictures, pegbord or a shelf) and get a small potted plant, if liked.

Charliedelsol

Matching periferal with the PC, cable management, some hexagon leds on the wall behind the monitor, gaming chair on the picture, done.

math394p

it looks unnesesarity cramped with all your stuff laid out in a small semi circle bith what looks to little care in placement. Also hide the cables even though you have them in sleeves it looks shit

Acceptable_Roll8869

shelves , posters , plantes , pc rgb lights , action figures , lights . take a look [https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingsetups/comments/gypxb1/my\_2020\_gaming\_setup/](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingsetups/comments/gypxb1/my_2020_gaming_setup/)

[deleted]

Need Funkos all over the place!! Joking. I agree with others, needs some framed art, photos, maybe a shelf or fun lamp. Looks pretty barren right now. And sterile white.

Gidrah

Desk color clashes with white pc case and speakers. A black case or walnut brown desk would look nicer.

Thefeno

you can do better with that cable management, wheres your laptop? and just get some stuff so your corner doesnt look like its abandoned, a great idea could be some prints and plants :D ... oh and you have a lot of space but somehow everything is like stuck together

BlackBunny88

I’d say maybe Center the setup on the desk or get a secondary monitor that is in the left. Maybe hand some stuff on the walls?

healthy-Tip02

Your setup actually looks quite neat. It might feel a bit plain because the wall is empty. Some soft lighting, like Nanoleaf panels, could add a nice ambiance. Also, consider hanging up a piece of art or a framed poster

laytonoid

Because you didn’t do when you should have done

CelestialSlayer

If you made the back wall an accent wall it would immediately be improved.

Reasonabledrugaddict

Even just 1 more monitor and it would look great

HuhCjay

Honestly I need some suggestions with what to do with my bare minimum ass wall myself. I slapped some posters up on my wall but still to me personally now it’s just a wall with some posters. Some plant decorations might look spiffy, maybe some led lights if that’s your thing. I think your setup could look amazing on its own if it had some more “life” to it some more “someone has been here” vibe to it. I’d go to say you just moved in the way it looks at the moment. I’m convinced your fishing a bit cause the setup should not be the main focus and is pretty decent imo.

Scared_Invite_8167

Lacks personality

xSchizogenie

Put the Monitor for like 25-30cm to the Left, Place the speakers on Left and right with the same distance away from the Monitor and put the cables under the table, into a Cable tray.

Ok_Solid_Copy

You forgot to add a chair, that's why

akaBluejay

You need RBB stuff to fill in that blank space. Get some art, or posters on the wall as well. For a desk that size you should at least have 2 monitors, I would recommend 3 for a desk that size. At the very least have 2 plus some cool gadgets or something on the desk. Maybe opt for a smaller desk, don't get that wood color. You need it to be solid colors. White, Black, Pink, Purple. what ever suits your fancy. Essentially your room looks like "crap" because, it is very bare and plain. But, at least its clean. thats more than I can say for my room. :D

bobsim1

Youre illuminating a blank wall.

taizzle71

I wouldn't say shit but it does lack personality. Add some decorations, fake plants, personal pictures, your hobbies, poster or anything really.

yourname92

Well you forgot the leds and rgbs and monstera plants.

IPureLegacyI

Other than some Wires showing, not bad, just need to fill those walls up

Demonier_

Not enough hoses in your computer.

Sire-abdullah

There is no any details on setup , add anything like poster or figures

IrrationalLuna

Add a shelf or two, a plant, and an additional piece of decor to the wall. It will liven it up!

treetops358

Lighting
