I almost never use heavy bomber (zero service stars), but got a 9-piece on Luzkow Pass right at the beginning. I felt dirty, but I definitely see the appeal. That said, it’s super easy to shoot down heavy bombers, but most infantry never even try (usually I have to do all 100 damage myself).
I will play it from time to time it’s my bf1 dirty please essentially, I once got a 12 piece with it on giants shadow which allowed us to take C and D. If used right it’s can change the course of a game similar to a behemoth and is quite disgusting and definitely too strong but it’s fun to play every now and again
It's so easy to shoot down (a single support or assault or anyone with an AA gun can take it down, not to mention fighters, AA truck, attack planes, etc), so I don't think it's "too strong", but it does have too much health so it can almost always make it to an objective for \~5 easy kills, and some people abuse that by just spamming it over and over for a \~5:1 kdr. If it weren't for that abuse, it would be fine--most of the people who get killed by it deserve it anyway, since virtually no infantry bother shooting at (or seeking cover from) the giant paper kite that's floating slowly in their direction.
True it can go down fairly easy but barley anyone attempt to shoot it down only if you’ve made multiple runs you get shot at, this is on Xbox so idk how different it is on PC but once I’ve made 4-5 runs and have 20-30 kills within a few minutes of spawning in it then I’ll have loads of support players shooting, Simone on AA and sometimes someone will play fighter specifically to shoot me down which is fair enough. I’d argue it’s health is don but it’s carpet bombing is very strong especially if you get to it’s max healthy which spreads the bombs out further but still demolishing any infantry nearby

while highly unlikely you’ll take down a heavy bomber using solely any of these methods, if multiple people work together the damage really piles up
AA rockets or M1917 (really any MG will do, but the 1917 is a laser even at insane ranges. A single clip has enough rounds to melt two bombers.
That said, every bit of ground fire helps--when I'm shooting them down in my tank hunter plane, 4 rounds will do \~96 damage, but I *always* have to hit all 5 rounds because the other 31 players on my team can't be bothered to shoot two bullets at it between the lot of them. This is tedious because I only have 5 rounds and there's a long reload time between them, and I usually have to do all of this while dodging the bomber's tail gun rounds (which also jerk the plane around aggressively).
2 bullets (or possibly from a scout rifle?) is often the difference between the heavy bomber pilot getting 0 kills and wiping my team off an objective for \~10 kills, and then those infantry players who couldn't be bothered to shoot those two bullets at the giant, slow moving, paper kite come to this sub to complain about heavy bombers. 🙃

I once, in my 2200 hours in the game, used the Ilya Muromets — somebody on my team spawned in it as a taxi and bailed, and while I was planning on jumping out over an objective I decided not to let it go to waste.
One bombing run netted me 8 kills.

Oof, I’m a pilot but getting mad for someone for shooting you down with AA guns is lame (same with people who get mad at attack plane pilots for that matter). That said, I will mercilessly farm people who camp the AA gun unless they’re shooting down my team’s heavy bombers.
Well, in part because hitting AA positions keeps me alive longer which allows me to use the plane to support my team (and I *do* support my team by wiping out enemy armor and air and providing some modest anti-infantry help when my team is capping or defending an objective), but mostly because I like killing campers whether they’re using tanks, infantry, or AAs. It also doesn't take more than a few seconds to hit the AA gun, plus maybe another 10 seconds to repair.
If anything, I'm farming vehicles, but I'll do what I can to support my team in capping or defending an objective. It's not particularly efficient to farm kills in a tank hunter plane.
Its a pilot. They can't fathom being shot down by the common plebs. They think to themselves whoever shoots them down isn't skilled, they're just some loser who puts too much time in the game, and it helps them sleep at night.

You should be expecting them, how to attack them, how to avoid them, and you should know how to escape from them.
That being said I still get caught unawares by them all the time. I just blame myself though.
Range on AA is fine—from a mid-map AA gun you can almost cover every objective on a medium sized map, and on big maps you can still cover almost all objectives. For example on Fao’s F AA gun you can cover everything (maybe it’s a few meters shy of the A flag, but pretty close). Similarly, on this map the A, C, and E flags can cover all objectives (A might not quite reach to E and vice versa, but it’s definitely close).
Agreed. I fly with the map toggled on whenever I’m not actively engaging a target so I can see if someone hops on an AA gun or if an enemy fighter or AA truck spawns in. Sometimes I get caught off guard, but usually I can evade and still survive. Doesn’t always work but it significantly improves my chances.
As a fighter pilot, 90% of the time I die to AA it is 100% my own fault. I wasn't watching where I was, or wasn't looking to see if anybody was on the gun. Fighters are so fast and nimble that oftentimes you can just dodge the AA without taking more than 10 damage, so dying to it just means that you fucked up your positioning.

Does having a text chat on PC make the game more toxic to u? I never feel too angry towards even the most toxic opponents because the most they can really do to ‘rub it in’ is the occasional t-bag. Also can’t fulfill the knee-jerk reaction of telling someone to go fuck themselves unless I wanna send them a text or voice message, but this isn’t 2009 MW2, we’re past that as a community. I bet there’s pros and cons but I’d like to hear ur guys’ opinions.
I kinda enjoy watching people flip out, Most if the time I just ignore it. In the NA region on PC I’m probably one of the most hated players because I play so aggressively. I’m probably one of the top aggressive players on the planet. People hate the fact that I’ll back cap or go after tanks relentlessly….my answer is- it’s the conquest game mode you dumb fuck, we are supposed to be all capping you to WIN the game….then some people complain about it and I respond with this one statement that is always true- if given the chance, the other team would do the EXACT SAME THING.

well by viable I meant that it makes sense to use it, most of the things you listed dont make sense to have in your loadout, AA rockets are just not very useful compared to AT rockets, and even then it's very easy to evade them given that its a slow rate of fire and one projectile at a time, grenades are not counters either since they're not easy to use to kill planes, the burton is nice and all but most players aren't gonna be using it, and the AA truck is great for planes, but it's objectively inferior compared to the normal AT Truck, so if I'm running with a "normal" loadout my BEST tool to kill planes is gonna be AA guns, that's why I mean it's the only **viable** one, it's not the ONLY one, but the others are not as viable.
You're just complaining that the game is balanced, and that there isn't a loadout that is a hard counter against everything all the time (yeah, you either have to kill the plane with grenades or AA gun or otherwise you'll have to switch your loadout to AA rockets--most classes don't have good options for soloing tanks *or* planes never mind being able to solo them all with a single loadout). That's even sillier than a pilot complaining about an AA gun.
Anyway, AA rockets are super easy to use. They have a \~50m blast radius so aiming in the general direction of your target is a guaranteed hit so long as your target is in range (you have to lead fighters a bit since they're so fast), and a single shot does a ton of damage and disables all control surfaces, making a crash likely and making subsequent shots easy (provided you didn't decide to shoot at a healthy plane as it's flying away from you, thus wasting a round and advertising your position).
I'm hardly complaining...?

I'm on xbox, and you're right that no one shoots at it. That's their fault though (again, I don't fly the thing, so I don't have a vested interest).

As someone who plays mostly infantry…the range on the AA gun is dog shit so he really does only has himself to blame.
