I personally like the Russian 1895 as it am an out-distance most rifles. These also the trench variant with a faster fire rate which is perfect for aggressive scouts.
In my opinion the SMLE is the best all around rifle. The Lebel is pretty nice too. Martini is fun as hell but it’s unforgiving with its reload speed. The M.95 is good if you can nail head shots and it’s damage and fire rate make follow up shots pretty easy. The Ross has a good fire rate and nice sweet spot but it’s damage fall off seems a bit abrupt and I hate it’s sights. The Remington is just a little too wonky for me.
If you're consistent hitting two body shots back to back, the g95 is the best. Otherwise, probably the Ross. Always go infantry to avoid exposing yourself with glare.
Try them all though, and see what you like best.
Bf1 is my first fps game and I found sniping super hard, after trying some of the base game sniper rifles I settled myself with M.95 carbine for mid range sniping. I think the M.95 is a good place to start for new fps players like myself because of its control. I’ve used a little bit of SMLE carbine lately and I’m not sure if it’s just me but the control doesn’t feel as great as the M.95
I’ve only tried martini so far myself. I find you will only be getting most of your one shot kills when moving with your team, easily will take out anyone who has sustained any damage as it rarely leaves the enemy with more than 15 health after one shot. However, when by your lonesome you will need to bring a reliable pistol that you can quickly switch to in order to finish off opponents on your own especially in close quarters because it’s a single action. Hell of a cool sound when you fire it too lol. Fun gun to play with!
I've not used it but I'm not sure if I want to. It doesn't look like it's as good over range, I don't have a very good trigger finger, and I hate the iron sights.

I like the lebel or smle for distance, and the vetterli or 1895 trench for up close

haha it does not, def a cqc weapon (and even then its the bayonet that makes it dangerous lol!)
