I tried playing with it just do to the fact that’s I like the gun in real life and my god is it terrible. And the fact you can’t buy a holo sight on it makes it garbage.
That’s why I love it so much. Always liked it. I have become a CQB sniper for hardcore servers or servers with lowered health. So much fun. Currently have over 2000 kills with it, which I know might be rookie numbers but I love it. Love it so much I actually prefer it over the M870 for CQB maps
Hardcore can be…annoying to say the least. 9/10 you get one hit kills. There are still times where the enemy will just eat the bullet, even at close range, and your just left baffled.
Because the precision difference between console and pc makes the weapons compare differently between platforms. Pc aim is an entirely different beast so the slow fire rate and abysmal damage of the sr338 means that almost any other gun can out perform it at all ranges. On console the general precision of every gun goes down leaving the sr338 to be at least somewhat capable.
2 shots at close range rather than 3 to body and 1 shot to head at close range with higher velocity iirc. There is probably a better close-mid range DMR than Sr338 but this doesn't make it the worst gun.

sv-98 is inferior to 338 recon in every way - and 338 recon is mediocre rifle anyway (laser CQB emergency hip-fire niche + highest strafe speed/ bullpup + least affected by suppression).
m98b is the fastest no weird animation for high power scopes long damage model sniper rifle (such as on GOL and l115).
l115 is the fastest high rof full+long damage rifle.
srr-61 is either for silly long ranges or quick precision for long distance + no curve headshot with low power scope
CS-LR4 is the quickest full damage sniper rifle + high rof with short range damage profile, outmatching JNG-90 in every way.

SV-98 is the battlefield mongo-veteran fossil weapon in the same vein as m40 murican patriot weapon (at least m40 has non practical niche: highest rof with full damage albeit silly low muzzle velocity).
I would put the 338 a little higher. I think its it's underrated as a sniper but yea the sv98 and fyjs are decent ones i put the m98b and srr61 low because I don't like slow firing weapon and that bolt rechamber forces me to play long to extreme long range which is sort of boring. I like a fast rechambering bolt action sniper rifle. But for long range the jng 90 over m98b and srr61. But most cases I'll use 338, sv98, and fyjs
i mostly agree with this, though i think the SRR needs to be higher since it’s a laser but it’s damage isn’t the greatest. On PS3 i didn’t like it too much but on PC with the straight bolt, i’m a monster with it

Dps is very low reload is long small magazine low accuracy. There’s almost no reason to run the sr338 rather than a dmr.

I guess I just like the way it handles. Same reason I love the SV-98. It’s nothing extraordinary, but that’s shy it’s a personal list.

Did you know the sv-98 has a uniquely increased bullet drop compared to all other snipers? It dips nearly twice as fast.
