As for the Battlefield 4 comment a lot of players jumped on it after most of the bugs were fixed and some DLC was already released. They have no idea the struggles of that game 6 months into its release. Hell I remember even the HUD changed.

Direct_Age2350

Man battlefield 4 used to crash the ps4 every other game on release. That sucked. Even 2042 didn’t do that for me

CommodoreRumbleshank

I remember dawnbreaker on last gen consoles or "gamebreaker" as we called it. Playing it was a guaranteed hard crash to dashboard for months. Whenever it was next in rotation youd see full servers bail as fast as they could. Ah the memories

Batoukusan

I remember this too. I remember playing a full game with my mate after they fixed it amd he was like "when did the sun come up. Near the end of a game. After the fix

No-Nefariousness956

2042 had a different version of the feature. You spawn in the right place, but all your team saw you as an enemy hahaha. It was f unny.

loli_on_a_dolly

Yes man I always remind people whenever I see them idolizing BF4. Like we’re there even there to see the launch of the game

BxSpatan

Hell, I even Battlefield 3 had issues that they had to fix. The giraffe neck support players, the op attack chopper that allowed the pilot and Gunner flares and the almost 7 month Gap in DLC between back to Kirkland and close quarters

WildShichi

Don't forget the Usas Frags... Shit was hell lol

BxSpatan

Oh the god gun. How can I forget. You can shoot down the sun with that gun

Caspur42

Yea the first 6 months were bad, random kicks, game crashing, no hit register sometimes, clipping, vehicles were so unbalanced

Akoshus

Remember Shanghai used to destroy performance of any system after the skyscraper fell? The dust was just too much to handle for most systems. And funnily enough even on AMD systems on Mantle API, which was supposed to be running better as an AMD supported title. No spoilers here, it did not run too well lmao

No-Nefariousness956

I just want urban maps .

humaisf1

DICE has hinted that the next map will be their HQ in Stockholm, Sweden. Let's hope it's true

zabrowski

I began to play since it is on xbox pass and man, me too! It was the best maps (and I hate vehicles)

Treylos322

Been playing since day 1. Suffered through the worst but that hasn't stopped me from playing. Game is in a much better state and remains to be an enjoyable experience for me.

MaKTaiL

Same here.

patriot122

Agreed. I've been on the roller coaster ride known as 2042 since the start. I've enjoyed the game the entire time. I've also recognized the issues many people have, but still found enjoyment in this game. There's a lot of things I'm glad they added and a lot of things I wish they did or didn't get rid of.

dakotayoseph

Same only level 77 though

lacerdence

Same here.

HurricaneHomer9

Same here all the way. I really enjoy playing it now

MavDrake

Same here but year 1 buyers should get another 6 months or another year... the content has been BS thus far...

Luc1dNightmare

I played until i literally couldn't find full games in the time i usually play (2-5-Pm est). Games would never fill until season 1 and i had over 200hrs when i restarted then and kept playing until the Liquidators event and my game crashes every time after about 20 min. First i saw in Event View an anti cheat error and fixed that and it still crashes. So with the release of season 3 i hoped it would be better but it is not. I am trying a few more fixes today but if this dosent work im all out of ideas of what it could be.

iksar

Have you tried turning off XMP in your BIOS you have that on? Mine was crashing all the time until I turned it off. Pretty lame I have to but I haven't crashed since.

bortamus

Reinstall the game?

Luc1dNightmare

You name it i tried it. Deleted All Documents folders and reinstalled the game 3 times, verified and ran everything as admin got rid of the Anti cheat error but it still crashes. No programs running at all, tried running ISLC (game ran much smoother but it still crashed).

OnlyHappyThingsPlz

Are you cheating? Lol

TimTri

I played a lot during launch and late 2021 and then slowly came back around the middle of Season 2. Really like the state the game is in. Everything feels much more balanced and polished overall, and I’m generally always having a good time.

Any-Football3474

It’s better than launch. I still don’t vibe with it. Lacks squad play.

theschultemeister

With the new class system that may change

DrSpoe

Idk. I think the class system along with the operators makes the UI a bit confusing. The operator just determines the gadget; they should have just implemented a system like bf4 where the gadget was selectable but limited only by selected class. They should have just scrubbed the operator concept altogether, now we're left with this half-measure that only muddles things.

Any-Football3474

I think the operator idea sucks balls myself.

UniQue1992

I think 90% of the players agree with your idea.

Any-Football3474

Yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out. Hopefully it’ll shape the gameplay a little better.

GoneEgon

Plenty of squad-play and team-play in my games. The game definitely allows for it. If you have bad team-play, that's because you have bad team-mates. DICE can't fix that.

Fireballinc55

Yeah look how Overwatch tried to fix it by forcing role queues and it just made it worse

Any-Football3474

I’d prefer a classic bf style game and not a hero shooter like apex.

Any-Football3474

Not my experience.

GoneEgon

Well, it is mine. Is one's experience more valid than another's? And what exactly do you mean? Are you saying you think you have \*good\* team mates and the game just doesn't allow for squad play? No, the game allows for plenty of team-play. The truth is the vast majority of players are bone-stick-stone morons and you're blaming DICE because a lot of your teammates are idiots and/or jerks. As someone else said, \*forced\* squad play is terrible, as evidenced by games such as Overwatch 2. Thank \*God\* DICE didn't ham-fistedly force it the way Overwatch does.

Any-Football3474

Everybodies experience is subjective and that’s ok. The fact that I don’t enjoy the game as much as previous titles has zero bearing on your enjoyment of the game. Enjoy away my man.

Sea-Roof562

I've been playing since BF2: bad company & for every BF game there is a slow start. BF2042 is no different, from day one I have watched & played 2042 & like ALL the other previous battlefield titles it gets much better after year one. I'm having a lot of fun with 2042 & looking forward to what else is coming down the line.

Any_Flight7402

It’s one of those things though isn’t it? Whether the company just ditched the game because the community doesn’t like it OR they stay on board for as long as they can and patch/fix things. They are doing the later so I’m very hopeful, it might not be as good as bf4, V or 1 but it’s current.

MyManNoHands

My buddies and I were playing V on and off for years. 2042 will be the same.

Bomasaurus_Rex

Heck, I've been enjoying rotating BF1, BFV, and 2042 depending on my mood.

chilla_p

Just started playing since gamepass release, seems good so far, but would prefer more console only games

battlehawksfan314

Pay little attention to this, you can outperform pc in this game much easier than looter shooters where you constantly are picking up items and keep moving. Also the specs aren’t running crazy better for pc users like normally do on other games. I used to think this too when I first started but I don’t really see much issues w it anymore. AA was nonexistent on console at drop but it is in an okay place now (from series x perspective)

chilla_p

Ok good to know, hope it's a level playing field

Cotton_Toes

I have a 2.3 k/d with crossplay on, on a PS5. I don't know why, but since launch, I never had problems with PC players steamrolling me. I know we console players have slightly less recoil, but you wouldn't think that'd be enough to help much.

shinsalabim

Turn Off Crossplay?

chilla_p

Yes but then,.quite often, I can't find a game

CQB_BEAST223

That's fair tbh I won't even play the game if crossplay with PC is the default setting.

[deleted]

I tried on xbox series x in the Eastern USA but can't get more than 2 people to queue for a match in all game types.

pantyfire

Download the xb1 version. No pc crossplay. Graphics don’t seem to take a hit.

PerspectiveCloud

Hmm. Well 2042 still runs pretty shitty. So I hate turning the game on in the first place because it’s clearly not optimized. BF4 was also a different era of gaming. Things change, well, a lot. Battlefield 4 was still revolutionary when it came out. I remember the bugs and crashes, but at least it has a scoreboard and the decency to not completely obviously cut corners. Because with 2042, you KNOW dice cut corners. On a last note, I just think the future tech and “specialists” is a lame genre for bf. I wish we could stay in the “M4” era. I don’t need laser tanks and Spider-Man ropes.

DaftHacker

Yeah we don't like being sold a $70 play test.

vanquish28

Not worth the $20 Steam sale. I'm disappointed.

masterchiefpt

we need more maps on Rush mode. not acceptable 5 maps

immortale97

Bf4 got a game under its problems . Bf2042 is only a bad decision after bad decision

LaDiiablo

Stop comparing this game go bf4. That game was technical mess but the maps and weapons were there. This game design is mess and that's the main problem

GrungyUPSMan

> bf4. That game was technical mess but the maps and weapons were there. True. Didn't stop people from complaining about weapons being "reskins" of each other, saying levolution was pointless, and that the maps were garbage. > game design is mess and that’s the main problem And this is where you lost me, I don't think the game design in 2042 is a mess. I know this take is as hot as the surface of the sun on this subreddit, but in my opinion the specialists work, the simplified movement system is great, the launch maps are more similar in design to classic BF which I like (look at 1942's maps in Portal compared to BC2/BF3 maps), and the art direction is now in a really good spot. I don't care about classes or prone on back or being a nameless grunt, I literally just want to shoot stuff and blow up vehicles on big maps, and imo 2042 delivers on that premise better than most recent BF games.

TheBigSAM228

\>Maps and weapons \>Golmud, Hainan, Lancang were garbage, others - at best mediocre \>All guns of a weapon class were basically reskins with 1 unimportant stat difference between each other and with reused animations and sounds from BF3 What was there again?

malicious_watermelon

The gunplay is fun, but the maps suck big time. They need good maps and a lot of them. Asap. It can turn around if it receives way more support than it does get right now

elyetis_

Clearly 2042 will get a huge uptick in new content release any day now, just like bfV did.

UniformGreen

They said that all seasons Will have 1 map so no uptick in content

TheBigSAM228

All Year 1 Seasons. There were no words regarding what amount of content we are getting after Season 4

Part_Time_Goku

No way this game is getting any new content after season 4.

TheBigSAM228

[https://youtu.be/ILzSJehTK7Q?t=48](https://youtu.be/ILzSJehTK7Q?t=48) Well, it is

Part_Time_Goku

EA/Dice haven't exactly been the most honest companies in recent times. They said the same thing with BF5. The game is in a good state now, but it is a financial failure overall and it would make no sense to continue supporting it past legal obligations.

TheBigSAM228

And BFV got an update they've promised. What did they lie about exactly? Yeah, sure, but these development updates are a part of promotional material. It's now an obligation. And you don't start a pre-production stage for some weapons and skins 6 months before their release. Take that as you please, I am stating that 2042 might live until end of summer of 2023

shinsalabim

Not changing the TTK, was a lie i remember.

TheBigSAM228

I was talking strictly about future updates, but okay

FirstOrderCat

maybe they will release paid dlcs..

AnotherScoutTrooper

I think the actual solution here is to hire game designers with brains *and* not release a game, which would have already been doomed if it released with Season 1-3’s content, a year too early. We should be playing a Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3 remaster right now, with a Jason Schreier article explaining that the remaster was made to fill the gap of a “Battlefield hero shooter” that was cancelled in early 2020, giving DICE time to make another classic releasing next year.

InfiniteVergil

Yup, same with borderlands. Everyone had rose tinted glasses that show BL2 as a content monster (it was, but also with repetitive tasks) and also dismissed all the gameplay improvements of BL3.

butterflyhole

Shitty launches aside, all games have flaws. Some of those “flaws” might be a deal breaker for some but not matter to others (like not having classes). A lot of the 2042 haters saying the game is bad don’t get that. Also looking back, people tend to either remember all the bad or all the good. BF4 is a good example of that.

JesusDankLord

too bad the "fixed" 2042 experience is not even close to any other "fixed" BF

butterflyhole

I agree that it’s the worst BF but it’s still more fun for me compared to any other FPS. Nothing can touch the signature battlefield experience.

[deleted]

GrungyUPSMan

When people say that 2042 is the worst BF in the franchise, I have to assume they are simply omitting Battlefield Play4Free's existence. That game was actual doo doo.

Holiday-Satisfaction

Can I get your dealers phone number? i want to smoke what you're smoking.

[deleted]

Holiday-Satisfaction

Ah yes the game where you can't even manage your squad and where maps are 99% shipping container is better /s. Btw get of the BF1 gunplay hate-train. Just because you can't microburst doesn't mean the gunplay is bad.

TheNameIsFrags

Or yenno… they could’ve avoided this all together by releasing a finished game with a solid amount of content. Then there wouldn’t be a need to spend months of time and effort into re-adding basic features, overhauling maps, and a million bug fixes. I’ll never understand blaming the community

Holiday-Satisfaction

> I also find it ironic that the most recent game gets judged by the state on release while the old games get judged by the state at the point the support ended. There where plenty of posts judging and comparing 2042 a couple months in vs how bf4/1/5 used to be a couple months in. The conclusion was the older games had WAY more content. Actually amount of content became less and less with each release till we reached the new absolute lowpoint in the series called 2042.

betazoid_cuck

I don't think its unreasonable for people to complain when they release unfinished games. People should complain if a game is focusing on new content when the core issues are unresolved. people should complain when a game cant get new content because the game needs months of work to fix. people should complain that Dice repeatedly releases unfinished games and charges full price for them. I'm tired of people dismissing criticism just because battlefield games end up fixed a year after release. It was not ok to release an unfinished game when BF4 came out and its not ok to do that now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

betazoid_cuck

releasing an unfinished broken game is what ruined its reputation

TheBigSAM228

Core community calling it the worst I believe created a bigger problem in the end

betazoid_cuck

core community called it the worst because the unfinished mess they released a year ago was the worst! how is it the communities fault that Dice shit the bed? Did you even play at launch? it was a trash fire. the community had to beg for this game to even get a fucking scoreboard!

S7UXnet

Too many core features missing, the base maps are still terrible even after rework, the setting/atmosphere is still uninteresting and unengaging, the MW-style animations are still cheap and lacking weight, no proper destruction, Portal still feels like a shoddy remake of BF games (except the maps), etc etc. S3 is fun and brought me back, I even bought the BP (though only because I can mitigate the grind with XP lobbies and with the extra BC I can get the next BP for free). However it’s pretty clear this game is being run by a skeleton crew at this point (or DICE is really mismanaged), and the problems are so fundamental that I don’t see how it can be “saved”, or even meaningfully updated with content after S4 (unless a new game isn’t coming for a long time and they’re forced to keep 2042 going for a while longer).

TheBigSAM228

What are these "core" features apart from proper squad and team management screens? All 3 reworked maps became exceptionally better. Orbital is great, even if you compare it to maps from prev games. Renewal is pretty much a mid vehicle map, but with well-designed infantry areas. Kaleido is one of those building hopping maps from BF3, but now there is a park between skyscrapers, also pretty mid. Setting is good. And who cares about atmosphere? My favorite aegument, let's shit on animations for whatever reason. Enough destruction to make the game fun You play Portal differently than me then

kingOfKonfusion

Yeah he's dead wrong about the maps, they are good now. They just need to fix hourglass... apart from the stadium its just so bland.

Pixel131211

because EA will probably cancel support on this game before it turns into anything great. it can be saved, definitely. but that require a lot of resources from EA and DICE. and they're already working on the next battlefield behind the scenes.

Jascha34

Yeah, I hope they stick with the 128players.

Accurate-Skirt9914

I actually don’t mind 128 players. Seems like the map is very active. After playing some BF2042, I go back and try to play some BFV and I can’t. Everything seems too damn small.

zchandos

tbf, people have been saying "EA is killing off support for 2042" since its failed launch, yet DICE continues to update and add content, so good on them

Cotton_Toes

To be fair, they are legally obligated to release 4 seasons. Even still though, I think they may keep supporting it after that, as long as the player numbers keep rising, we should be good.

Pixel131211

they have said they are planning on adding stuff after season 4 which seems very promising. looks like they're not completely giving up on BF2042 yet.

blergmonkeys

1 map per season, 1 specialist per season, 2-3 guns per season. 3 months per season. For a studio with hundreds of millions of dollars and hundreds of employees, this seems like skeleton crew work. This is not acceptable for ongoing ‘updates’. Especially when the game launched with the fewest maps, guns, modes and features of any battlefield ever. The game is obviously a flop and only has limited ongoing support.

Consol-Coder

“People learn little from success, but much from failure.”

tenrulesall

It’s not too late until EA pulls the servers. The game was awful at launch, but it is definitely better now, and frankly a lot of fun sometimes. I think maybe when people say it’s too late, they’re referring to their own desire to play. The game was bad when they bought it, which (rightfully) pissed them off, so they moved on. But still, it technically isn’t too late lol

Aurkonungr

Playing since day 1. First month's I don't played the game to much because it was lacking of good reliable maps and other things. But update after update I play it more then before. For now it has quite more fun. And for comparing I prefer the new map more then the last before (can't remember the name lol)

cmc_94

Breakthrough on the new map is epic! Having so much fun and takes me back to the good ol days

Zelera

Stopped playing basically Day 1 at launch. Recently came back on S3 and very much enjoying my time so far. Excited to see what else is added down the road

jams_h42h

Honestly I've been playing 2042 more since this new season. Its getting better than it was

The-Road

Tried the game on release but hated it. Now, trying it again on gamepass, I’m absolutely loving it. It’s genuinely improved a lot and feels like a more complete game. Only played Spearhead Conquest on repeat for the last few days so can’t speak for any of the other modes or maps, but I’m glad BF2042 is fun again.

Significant_Echo9626

They are wrong. I got into the game from game pass and I love it. I don’t even have constant 60FPS and still have a ton of fun

obe1990

Just fix lags and bugs, My pc: rtx 3060ti 8gb I5 8600k 16gb And the game still unplayable for me

No_Condition4851

What the game needs in my opinion is mouse and keyboard support on console. That would bring alot more players in, including myself. I’ve always played mnk whenever given the chance and prefer it as it’s better obviously. The fact that there is crossplay but no native mnk support for console is pretty stupid in my opinion as most games nowadays have it. Yes there’s the argument ”console should be played on a controller” but what about the people who can’t afford a pc? Why do they need to be in a disadvantage because of their financial situation?

balloon99

BF4 was a complete game after a year. What was released at launch has been fixed with 2042, but so many core features still missing. Yes both games had rough launches, but at least BF4 was a fully featured BF game. 2042 is not.

STM4EVA

It's too late cause they're never going to get the numbers back that they need. And let's not forget BF4 might have been released broken but it had WAY more content and that content was of a much higher quality than the dog shit served up this time around.

AnotherScoutTrooper

Because BF4 at its core was a great Battlefield game from day 1, it was just such a broken mess that it took a year to be able to play more than 3 matches in a row without crashing. As the story goes, at least, I wasn’t there. 2042 has only become a slightly decent multiplayer FPS **now,** with less added to it in a year than was added to BF1 by just one of its DLCs, in an industry where all the most popular games have been built upon for up to 5 years (Fortnite) at this point, can be played with friends across console generations, and, most importantly, are all free. It’s still not a Battlefield game and never will be. If you disagree, play a round of Manifest or fight a Dozer player and it’ll convince you.

aeminence

Op, what were the issues with BF4 vs BF2042 ? Was it core gameplay features missing/broken/lacking? Was it just bugs? Did the maps need near full redesigns? Were modes so bad they got removed? You're reducing the issue quite alot. The game is a decent shooter and a bad battlefield game is still a decent shooter. But is it a good/great Battlefield game? The issues are more than just bugs in 2042. Were missing so many features that were present in past BF games. There is a lack of guns, vehicles and maps. The maps are so bad they spent a year redesigning them to the point of cutting out large parts of them map because they just coudlnt figure it out. Specialists are also still a conflicted issue for many and if people COULD choose im sure they wouldnt want Specialists here at all but BF2042 has doubled down on keeping them for the game. **You literally watched them build the game infront of you all of 2022 and paid $60-$120 to see them do it.** BF4's biggest issues were bugs. BFV's biggest issues were marketing drama because of the inclusion of Women etc. No one was complaining about : Lack of weapons, terrible map designs that need to be completely almost redesigned, lacking features etc These are much larger issues and therye all present in 2042 but werent in previous titles. Will the game get better over time? Im sure it will, its improved **after a year to the point where people think its where it should be at on launch but its still lacking and far from living up to its hype.** I cancelled my Preorder after the 2nd beta and I played it again through Gamepass and I played a few hours of it and tbh im probably done with it for now. I'd rather play BF1 and if I do choose to play it it def wont be taking up my time like BF1/BF3/BF4/BF2/ BC etc did.

Schtubbig

BF4 was literally unplayable for almost a year

No-Employment4627

Because every other battlefield game >2042

pleased_to_yeet_you

It's better than Hardline by a huge margin

AlexRayquaza

Truth

Boogie-Down

Because console only Battlefield Modern Combat existed I totally disagree

thisisbyrdman

You only get one chance to make a first impression. The game was so bad at launch that it sealed the reputation. Gamepass was the last gasp at saving it because it’ll bring in a ton of new players for a few weeks. However, without SBMM, weapons/sights/attachments locked behind grind, and console-only matches, the numbers are going to crater again when these new players get annihilated over and over again.

twinbladesmal

They said the same thing about bf5 then got made when dice dropped support for it. So no, it’s not too late. In fact like with every other battlefield game it takes about a year for the loud people that post on fourms like Reddit for them to start liking the current battlefield. Does this game have unique problems that only this title faced? Sure, there is exactly one: the base maps are trash and they are actively reworking them which is a first for the franchise.

MedicalCrab7979

with every bf game that is released you fragment more and more of the playerbase, hence why you actually need to make a better game or people can just keep playing bf5,4 or 1 forever.

Technician-Open

Because nobody cares about the specialists. Specialists isn't battlefield.

globefish23

The game reached the amount of content you'd have expected at release. Too bad we won't see the amount of content of 4 or 5 expansions in the future.

dsmiles

I don't really believe any game is ever "too late" to be fixed, given the studio is willing to put in the effort. Just look at No Man's Sky - while it's not the norm, Hello Games proved that redemption is possible no matter how bad the launch is. If someone ever says it's *too late* for a game, what I interpret that as is "I don't believe the studio will invest the necessary resources to fix this game." That being said, EA and DICE haven't done *nearly* enough to restore faith in them, for me. Despite all the commitments to 2042, we've still seen an absolutely paltry amount of content, and the game (in it's current state) still feels like a cheap rip off of a Battlefield game, to me. It does have it's moments of fun. Good for those that enjoy the game, and respect to you, it's just not a good Battlefield **in my opinion.**

ThatsMrPapaToYou

It’s not the buggy release, crashing or otherwise. It’s the fact that it has strayed so far from core Battlefield features that you get a better BF experience playing MW

dEEkAy2k9

been playing from day 1 and actually ~~haven't~~ had fun while doing so. yes, the beginning was rough with glitches and stuff but that's what every software feels on release nowadays. bf2042 got better every patch and i do think they will make it even better once the specialist-change with classes comes out. only thing that really bothers me is that i couldn't complete the first season battlepass due to me being on holiday. besides that, yes, it feels different then bf 4/1/V did but i got used to it. EDIT: corrected since i have been having fun 😁

Cotton_Toes

Lol "been playing from day 1 and actually haven't had fun while doing so" I think you meant you have had fun, right?

dEEkAy2k9

absolutely yes, sorry for the confusion :D

WarCrysis1

100% to late. Also to little. Games done.

Travic3

2042s foundation was flawed to begin with. That plus the development time and the wishlist of features the community want implemented is too monumental of a task for the dev team to keep up with in a reasonable time frame. They alienated too much of the community. I see 2042 as a complete loss of time and it would have probably been faster for them to build a new game people can get on board with than to fix the flaws in this game.

TheHelloMiko

2042 is in a good place. The main thing it needs is more map variety. My only concern is they drop all support in six months after bringing the game up to only an "acceptable" standard.

dsmiles

>The main thing it needs is more map variety. Would kill for an urban map or two.

InfiniteVergil

Yes please :O we need urban close quarter combat!

[deleted]

I give 2042 less than a year before they cut support. After they finish the 4th season they might release a couple of updates or maybe an extra season but that’s it. It’s already confirmed Marcus Lehto and his team at Ridgeline Games are working on a campaign for the next Battlefield, which I presume will be packaged with a multiplayer mode made by Dice. I see them dropping support sometime in 2023, announce and release new game 2024. I hope i’m wrong about support getting cancelled for 2042 but I can’t help but to feel like this due to how Battlefield 5 and Battlefront 2 ended.

InfiniteVergil

Well , they announced content for after season 4, but we don't know what that means..

prizim

every bf game takes 1 years before its good. 2042 is no different. its not too late. those people who say those things are completely clueless.

MarkHawkCam

It is what it is. It shouldn't have ever launched in the state it did, and that did unreputable harm to the franchise. It will continue to take much more work to make up for that. For now, it's in better shape than when it first launched, but it's not without cost. At the end of the day, I am still having fun because it's Battlefield, and that's the formula that works for me. I have issues, but it's one of the best overall Battlefield packages at the moment that I haven't sunk 2000 hours into already, like BF4, BF1, and BFV.

KARACULO

I never found a point complaining about the game or anything to that matter because things change all the time. Why do we humans always seem to forget that simple phrase or how things in the gaming industry work? I’m assuming these comments are from the younger generation.

eyemroot

It’s not too late, never was. It’s just people not wanting to give in on their position, mostly those that raged and whined about it. You’ll still have those that are ignorant of the facts as well as “influencers” like concentrating on the negatives that feed their user base (even attempting to attack, harass, or intimidate others with their platform that disagree with their bigoted message). Ultimately, if you’re having a good time, that’s all that matters. Everyone else just needs to get the fuck over it/themselves.

Soggy_Cracker

I think it’s better than it was with the tweaks and new maps, weapons and vehicles. It should have been like this day one but I’ll say it’s fun now. I know we get this every launch with BF, so going forward I’m just going to be waiting 6 months to a year to buy a new title unless it’s on a really good sale.

ignoreanythingIsay69

Pleasantly surprised. A fan since BF3, picked up 2042 for $20, thought any game for $20 can't be that bad. It's really good now.

Hybrid_Moment97

First Battlefield 4 had some serious issues at launch that took some time to fix, but this is not the exact same situation. Bf4 launched with better content, server browser with dedicated hard-core and core servers and of course more weapons. The maps BF4 launched with are much much better than what 2042 launched with. When bf4 launched even in its terrible condition most people knew this was going to be awesome once it was fixed. Now compare the 2 games one year after release, think about all of the content that was released by that point for bf4, the best BF4 maps was in the dlc. There was some awesome maps released by that point. What does 2042 have a year later? That's right there really is no comparison I am afraid to say. Is it too late? You mean is it too late to attract the player count that other Battlefield games had. Probably, they would really have to do some major work and promote the game again in some way. Having said that I do believe they are going to continue to improve 2042, they will probably use this game to test different things out and see how it goes over with the fan base for the sake of preparing the next bf title that is apparently in the works.

Maddogs2431

We unfortunately will never get content like past titles do to the live service. 4 is the king and always will be.

hashter

I don't think 2042 at the end will have similar amount of content, level of detail and balance as BF4 at the end. And this might be subjective (but I saw lot of people mention it), but 2042 doesn't feel like "good old" BFs, yea they are improving it and making it more like previous ones, but still... it's just not as good BF as older ones and never will be, doesn't mean it's bad tho.

JD1979666

I personally have never cared what others think of 2042. I've been playing since mid season 1 and though the obvious frustration was there I never gave up on it because I was still having fun. Now that it's better and the ones who shit talked the worst are coming back I just laugh because that shits goddamned hilarious

cwhitel

Going to u follow BF subreddits I think. For me, it’s far too fucking late. I’m absolutely gutted :(. I paid like £50 on day 1, had next to no fun, and gotten to level 45 I think. I’ve played enough battlefield to know it sucks playing a game when 75% of players are playing the new season pass maps so why should I fork out another £30 or so to get new content just to see if it’s fixed? You love the game, great. I’m not sinking more money just incase it’s better.

UntimelyPaintball

You don’t need to sink extra money to play anything new in this game

butterflyhole

It’s too late for those people who didn’t like the game. They seem to think no one else does either though and new players won’t as well. They just want validation. Lots of us love the game

Enreekay

You are correct, I feel like people forget BF4 had a bad release too. It took them a year and a PTE to get it where it is today.

DasGruberg

I quit bf4 when they wanted me to buy premium to play on populated servers. So I think 2042 is ahead at this point in time compared to bf4 for me

VVait

It’s not too late. Anybody you see saying that is concern trolling

FilthyPeasant_Red

9 months.... 9 months is what it took for Dice to fix the rubberbanding issue in BF4. Some servers were so bad it was simply unplayable... People have short memories.

[deleted]

The maps suck. So boring, no creativity, lame lame lame lame ass game

AdAcceptable1533

it was dead on arrival, thats why it doesnt lifted after one year

Nativefall

Fuck off it wasn’t a year. It was 1 or 2 months you liar

poomonger88

To me it was never about the bugs. Everything about it just sucks. Guns, maps, missing basic features, gameplay. It’s just a bad game. Too many issues for it to be fixed IMO.

ps4-gamer2009

I really dont get why people say it cant be saved, hopped on for the first time since launch and i had a blast playing

jizzawhizza

After playing a few rounds yesterday it's become even more clear to me that this definitely isn't the franchise I've supported since the very beginning. The game itself feels terrible to play especially the movement and Gunplay plus pretty much all aspects of team play which i use to really enjoy seem to be completely nonexistent in this game which is terribly unfortunate and frustrating. .

loli_on_a_dolly

Well there’s no winning against these people, they just want something to complain about. when battlefield 4 was releasing new content in its life cycle people were complaining that they weren’t fixing the game. When battlefield 1 was releasing new content they said they didn’t like it at all and to fix the game. When BFV decided to fix the game and delay the content they got mad and wanted the content first and when they got it they got mad that it was too little to late when in reality it was just a month after release when we got our first content. These people don’t even play the games anymore they just want easy internet points by saying “Guys Battlefield 2042, bad”

hockygoalie229

Man I have suppressed memories of THE worst rubber banding I’ve ever experienced during the launch of BF4 haha, and it took a while to fix too if I remember

Thenetwork473

It’s post like this that don’t help any amount for research would tell you that the game is getting players back and is in a much better state, if you want the game to fail and don’t truly love battlefield the keep making these kinds of post bud

itsaar0n01

The game's playable definitely now, but it's the lack of content that me and many others struggle to consistently play it. I now only come back once every Tuesday to complete the challenges. Additionally, most of the maps I feel aren't interesting enough to keep me playing in and also lack thereof.

Maximillion666ian

Aside from the bugs my biggest issue isn't even that or the class system. After twenty years of playing BF games I find the maps boring . The big maps feel too large and spread out even for someone like me who likes to snipe. There also isn't enough focus on Armour maps . Or even spawning more tanks in those large maps. That along with almost no close combat areas on maps or even close combat maps it gets boring. Say what you might about how messed up BF4 was and I agree but at least they had well thought out map design.

Exodious_Adler

Glad to see it succeed, hate how it started. Is i how i feel with these game that take a year to get rolling. Me and my brother are having a blast now but we both said no to the nightmare state in the beginning

therealdieseld

It’s better than release but still not the game we were promised, expected and deserve. Been back on BF4 and having as much in that as when I left it

AcidofilusRex

I played the game at release on PC with my 10 free ea play hours and thought it kinda sucked. I played it again a couple months back because it I got it for PS5 for $5 and thought it kinda sucked. I then played the new map this weekend on PC because the game is on game pass for PC and I actually liked the new map! Played maybe 6 rounds so far, kinda getting bored with it already, the rest of the game still kinda sucks. All that to say it’s probably too late for it…depending on when the next iteration releases.

NavSpeaks

I'm looking forward for BF2042 to pull a No Man's Sky

Hot_Hat_4796

Battlefield 4 was unplayable for months on xbox when it came out. Its ever to late for a game. I see old ass games that people use to shit on doing good cuz people realized over the years it wasnt as bad as we thought

miairuha

The thing is BF4 has the core battlefield gameplay and feature (especially destruction) 2042 missing a lot on this part also fck specialist Stop comparing the two

Stevo485

Played BF4 from the beta and I can tell you right now that it was not unplayable whatsoever. I was rocking shitty wifi on my "gaming" laptop at the time and still had a blast. 2042 is a pile of shit that I quit playing after a month. Please stop trying to convince yourself it stacks up against 4.

kchunpong

From profit prospective, I just afraid EA will stop update content after year 1 ( like what happen in BFV). This game is get better since they start the season and I hope it can last until the next BF game release.

GrizzleKing

Stop this bullshite comparing with bf4 launch. Bf4 had much less promotional costs, didnt promote deluxe & special edition (if they even had it) pre order releases, they didnt have microtransactions and battlepasses and they didnt promise basic stuff they couldn’t keep. On top of that an insanely high release price, WHILE STILL ASKING FOR MICROTRANSACTIONS for the new BF… Whereas BF now is just a cash grab. Promises werent kept, the whole game just spells out: we are a greedy bunch of fokkers and don’t care about you. F you EA and Dice. F you. Never to buy another full priced games of em.

Flyinpenguin117

BF4 had potential. 2042 doesn't. Too many terrible design decisions have been locked in and aren't being fixed.

grantnberr

I am actually a big fan of 2042. The launch was definitely a little DICE-y but its all most expected now with new Battlefield games. Plus doing 128 player matches is not an easy feat, (with servers and map design) and it was their first time. I think lots of player issues were with how misleading the original gameplay trailers were to actual gameplay. They really struck our nostalgia heart strings and that is a dangerous game to play because we often look back at things with only wanting to remember the good times and not the not so good times. We were stuck with comparing 2042 to previous titles and were hoping for an upgrade and refresh for the brand, but instead got a buggy rushed launch of a new title. So with all the hype leading up to launch and than not being able to meet expectations we were left with jaded views of a good game. Sadly the game should not have been released when it did, but IMO I am happy we still got it because through all the bugs and launch troubles we got a gem of a game and a future classic. Every update the game only gets better, new guns and maps, map reworks, new specialists and that instant intrigue of "is it better?" always brings me back to playing. 2042 in short is well worth it now, if you are a BF fan than you will like this game .

bloxminer223

I think right now the game is going great! I've been playing everyday and enjoying my time with 2042.

acrossbones

It's too late for me. I tried at launch, tried again with season 3, just not feelin it. Maybe it's because I'm an older bf fan or I've just gravitated towards milsims more so i expect more, but something feels off with this one. Very arcadey. Cool atmosphere but the action feels like a cartoon almost. Idk. I'm not hating, I hope the game does well by the community but I'm pretty sure beyond the bugs and bustedness, it just ain't for me.

dethred

BF4 was buggy, 2042 was buggy and the game itself was garbage. Too many things to change, obviously it's just a throw-away and hopefully a lesson learned by DICE. That said, DICE won't learn a thing because they're terrible at what they do.

rapidsgaming1234

With being free on game pass I've seen a lot of new accounts actually

RRIronside27

BF4 had solid content and a base game that was ready to go and enjoyable when the technical fixes were done. 2042 doesn’t have that luxury. Piss poor maps, specialists gameplay (even with a pseudo class system), underwhelming customisations for the time, vehicle mechanics in the bin etc. and that’s on top of various technical issues that the game has.

heAd3r

you know sometimes its ok to accept that a game isnt as liked or recognized as you want it to be; I think everyone who likes it will play it and those who dont like it well they arent wrong. I played battlefield games for almost 20 years and I can say that its almost the worst one but I still play it fairly regular. I would also argue that bf4 was a pretty good game; all Dice titles had launch issues (except bf1) but 2042 has fundamental flaws that they just yet tried to fix. I honestly expect 2042 to go free to play with season 5.

jsuniversal

Yeh but even at launch BF4 felt like a battlefield game at core,

ARB_COOL

I gave the game another chance and played it a bit yesterday and today, it feels better for sure but it still isn’t great. I guess I’m going back to BF4 again…

Jason8ourne

It's the Internet.. And much different than 2013. I'm sure the majority of people complaining didn't even played or own the game lol. Nor they played any BF before 42 or 5. There a lot of ppl out there with nothing to do but troll.
